    I skate at the same rink as he does and I can tell you his jumps are truly incredible In person… even more amazing than in videos because you can see the height and rotation speed that much more clearly! Mind blowing.

    The fact that he doing these combinations, even if they are slightly under rotated, is incredible in itself. The clean rotation will come with time and practice. His quad axel videos are other worldly

    He is amazing. Absolutely amazing. I've been around skating since I was 4-years-old. I never, ever thought I'd see someone do the things that he makes look effortless. Ilia is doing the unfathomable for anyone who's laced up skates. He'll grow and mature in his artistry. Most 18-year-old male skaters, skate young. But, those jumps, paired with maturity... WOW! I feel lucky just to be alive to watch it. Damn, he makes those jumps look easy. And the distance he covers! Amazing.

    Close to perfect classical technique and generally very clean. One point: He is very much aided in rotation by his very low bodily moment of inertia (i.e. the fact that his is narrow in shoulders and hips). Hopefully, as he matures into a more adult male build, he will be able to adapt and maintain these jumps.

    @@bcthoburn: Yes! People still to want to figure out every possible way Malinin "might" lose a jump or have some kind of problem... It's ridiculous... Malinin has the perfect build just like Hanyu.... I think Hanyu had pretty good longevity into his later years... Look at Malinin's dad... I'm sure that guy can or could still do big jumps. Malinin will be great for a long time to come!

    You really should stop making videos about people under rotating and pre-rotating if you don't know what they are. Twice here you said that Ilia UNDERROATED a jump when what you saw was not the blade hitting the ice, but the SHADOW of the blade. Furthermore, you clearly don't know what a triple toe is. The triple toe, by nature, has some pre-rotation to it, which is why it is considered one of the easier triples. But all the triples require some turning. I don't know where this fad came from, terrorizing skaters over pre-rotation this and pre-rotation that. Some skaters are egregious cheaters, granted, but that is not the case with Ilia. So, please if you can't get it right, don't make these types of videos. Because there will surely be people who will call you out.

    I just saw a russian girl who is 14 and only 4'8" who did a 5axel on the ice!! Wonder kid! There is no limit for these russian kids. She is not even 5'0 so she gets up super high in the air and does 4 turns plus 1turn when she is landing!! She does a 5axel jump!! Some people who are 5'4" 3/4 like me struggle to do 2 turns since they are a lot taller if they are beginners but if they are experienced they can plus triple jumps like Sarah Hughes did,former figure skaters, Katarina Witt and others. Why can Small young women can do singles, doubles and triples and those 5'7" or more can't???

  • @konapearl

    @konapearl

    Жыл бұрын

    @@moreandmore4378 that’s not true. Normal pre-rotation needed for toe jumps should only be a quarter rotation on the ice before takeoff. A 1/2 turn means you’re taking off from the toe pick forward and that is absolutely cheated pre-rotation.

  • @moreandmore4378

    @moreandmore4378

    Жыл бұрын

    @@konapearl the uploader is counting the rotation of his upper body, not the toepick (at least from what i can see. Thats what make this erroneous. But i agree that a proper prerotation should be quarter. Anything higher thn that is cheated. And at the same time, too little prerotation is also an unsustainable technique since it creates a disproportionate force between the upper and lower body, which not only affects the horizontal velocity of the skater but also the landing.
