Never tire watching your videos. Your commentary is next to none! And I'll have you know I absolutely love those waist packs! So much so I got another 1 or 3 on the way lol. Toss on a couple GP/Canteen pouches onto that MOLLE II Assault/Patrol pack and you got a grand setup.

I’ve never had any of these packs, so all of that info was very helpful. Especially as I get older, a waist belt to lessen the load on my shoulders is more and more important for my pack use.

I believe the ILBE uses a thinner Denier material.

Just a comment on the MOLLE waist pack. I was able to incorporate it on my old ALICE duece gear along with a couple of MOLLE SAW pouches without ALICE adapters. It turned my duece gear into a type of patrol belt where I can carry my fire starting kit, IFAK, 2 canteens and in the waist pack mounted on the rear I carry my small cook stove and pot with my fuel and a couple of freeze dried meals.

I have the molle 2 later model patrol pack with the frame sheet and jump straps. Great pack, yep I use waist packs to “pump up the volume”. Ideal day pack to overnighted.

British here on our radios in my time Clansman we had a wire areal from a back pack burgen type we had a twenty four liter Belfast patrol pack ,the wire areal would hang down to your ankel and not get hung up in trees and bushes it was coverd in a green plastic sleave but you could still wind it up around your had . The only disadvantage was it cut down the signel range depending on atmospheric in the UK by two too three miles in Belize it could be reduced by five miles .but this was taken into planing by the comand placed the sections and if necessary put a brick four men out as a rebro station on higher ground normaly if you used this meathod you used four groups two in position and two on the move

Hi. I'm a fan of your channel. I purchased a few small versions of those Air Force web gear sets for 18 a piece. They sure have gone up since. I removed a few things and added some hook/loop attachments. I can send pics if desired. The gen III is basically gen I all over again in layout, but with the gen II padding you prefered. They look cool as split front chest rigs. I wish I could go to your "thrift store". Well thank you for the content.

@@renaissancemarinetv3536 I sent some picks to the channel's email. I'm with you on the side molle/pals for expansion. I've been using a first gen DF-LCS Multi Mission Pack. It has more webbing than any of the other medium packs. The shape is quite bizarre on the front inner pocket. I wish I knew what Eagle Industries purpose for designing that feature was. I two tone dyed it to a very Atacs FG look. I covered it in FG-X pouches from Polish and Chinese sources. I sure miss that Russian gear. I'm fortunate to have what I have. The Russians and Chinese even have pattern on their webbing. I have a Russian emr digital flora pouch that is 500d, weights nothing, and is 3 point adjustable for something as big as a WWII German mess kit/Gerber E-tool down to a tiny bauble. It is fascinating. It has micro molle/pals like strips that can be mounted to any tolerance and weaves back into itself with pull tabs to remove it. It cost very little and yet is so practical.

Yes me again. LOL. I had both the ILBE and the MOLLE patrol packs, I myself parted with the ILBE pack, the only feature I did like on the ILBE was that front side zip pocket, but the MOLLE Patrol pack suits my purposes perfectly otherwise. Sorry HQMC, you chose unwisely. If I find the MOLLE II main ruck in woodland camo I"am getting it. Anyway, the MOLLE patrol pack is what I use for now when hunting or hiking, and camping sometimes. I have the Generation 2, so my shoulder straps like the ILBE's is permanently attached, although I wished the maker had kept that little feature, because the ALICE shoulder straps fit too, as do other replacment straps. Just my 2 cents brotherman. " Semper Fi!"

The Slim, Tall, Narrow Footprint of the ILBE is ideal for Everyday Use like Carrying a Laptop, Books and also it slides in and out in standard Gym Lockers. The Front Zipped Portion works equally well for your laptops/Ipads and the larger component can be used for clothing like Gym Shorts/Tshirts and Towels making it a Multi use day pack. Molle ii Patrol and Assault Packs are perfect for Hunting, Fishing, Camping. The MARPAT Pattern is super attractive and gets so much compliments. Also, the ILBE is ideal for Carry-on Luggage as it meets the TSA recommended measurements and its Narrow×Slim Profile makes it easy to stow at the overhead bins and even against the side if you have the side window. The ILBE is over engineered

Great side by side comparison. I have a couple of the MOLLE 2 packs and they have been great. I've heard mixed reviews on the ILBE assault pack but I do find the ILBE main ruck to be excellent although a little over engineered. It is strap-tacular. I too have a pack problem. Thanks Nate

Good video and thanks for the comparison. When you hike for an hour or two with a full load do you notice either one being more comfortable? The narrow gap between the upper shoulder strap attachment points on the ILBE looks like it could be uncomfortable on your neck.

You can attach the waist pack to the bottom of the MOLLE II Assault Pack. It will also carry one of those "tinker toys"-type of folding chairs. I attached mine to the bottom of my pre-'99 SpecOps Brand "T.H.E. Pack"....in Woodland.
