Yes, unfortunately it got allocated to India. Sad really, exact same ppl. I imagine historically people travelled between sylhet and silchar etc and married from the two towns. If part of bangladesh silchar would be just like sunamganj or sri mongol, a town in sylhet division.

Cachar is part of Dimasa kachari kingdom, Dimasa kachari ( barman) is the indigenous tribe of Cachar District. Khaspur is historical Palace only a few miles away from silchar.

Silchar is in Assam so everyone there is an Assamese irrespective of what language they speak. Originally inhabitated by tribal community like dimasa and cachari tribes but now fully dominated by bengali speaking community and no trace of local tribes can be found just like the situation in Tripura. Its sad.

Because dimasas are very simple kind person. That's how these immigrants are treating us. Just for humanity our forefathers gave our land to them. Shame on them. If they don't know the history then search in the Google and read the history.

I was in Silchar for several months because of my official work. One thing I noticed that, though more than 80% people are highly educated but the streets are very very dirty. Don't know why?

Missing my city badly due to study unable to come but truly none of the country or city will fulfill your joy native always best even sometime has nostalgia.

SILCHAR of cachar district is mostly Bengali populated and official language is BENGALI in Barak after 1961 bhasa andolan (assamese forced their language but we resisted, they also killed 11 veers in barbaric way) and Bengalis are 2nd most populated community in whole Assam.
