Secondly, the Igbo are not a tribe, but a Nation of many tribes and people. I am Mbaise in Imo state, we contributed immensely in terms of our people through marriage or settlement to present day Ikwerre. A practice that ended as recently as 30 years ago was a return of Ikwerre people of Umuola (rumuola) back to mbaise on a yearly voyage, just like all Aros including Aro Isiokpo and Aro Ubani (bonny) return to Arochukwu yearly.

To those saying, "Igbos cannot even understand Ikwerre," I ask: How many other Igbos can understand Mbaise, Ngwa, Owerri, Abakiliki, Ohafia, Ukwuani, or Alayi? Can you understand them? As an mbaise person, I can tell you that I have a better ability to deconstruct, Ikwerre dialect than Abakiliki. Why not, after Mbaise and Ngor Okpala, you have Ikwerre.

Ikwerre Meka! A simple message to all those saying Ikwerre are not Igbo. Learn your history. Even when you ask Elechi Amadi, my namesake and one of the biggest proponents of Ikwerre is not Igbo, he will say Igbos and Ikwerre share a kinship over centuries. Kinship he calls it.

Ikwerre people are having identity crises for sure, some of them from edo and some from ijaw

this is just a dialect of Igbo language. hust like we have many dialects in Igbo. I understood what they sing here, nice song anyway. Ikwerre ma Ikwerro ( believe it or not) this is Igboid language.

In Belgium, you have the Walloons, a major ethnic group that speaks french, yet they are an entirely different ethnic group from the french people in France. My point is to stop using similarities between languages to ascertain one's ethnicity.

I still insist dat dis people are not igbos and cannot be, let dem go and trace deir origin some where else and not igbo. I do not understand which part of the song is Igbo? Frankly this is not Igbo. Go and hear Rex Lawson who sang in Igbo fluently in his songs although he was Ijaw.

@@nnfefe9451 igbo has different dialects, Anioma dialect isn't same as ohuhu dialect and also not same as abakaliki dialect, anyone can sing in central Igbo or any other Igbo dialect and that doesn't mean Ikwerre isn't Igbo because it's not same as the dialect that person sang with. There's no Igbo person who won't understand ikwerre dialect when spoken.

Oga Igbo has many dialects, so what they speak is a dialect of Igbo unless you meant central Igbo
