You should try a 300-400lb braid line, have the leader be like 275-350 mono, then use a wire leader if you want. This way the fish wont have a giant leader dragging behind it for who knows how long.

My God that had to be a absolute monster, that thing have to be a fish of monsterous proportions when you do best him, all you can do is go after him again, I'd think that it'd hang in the area a lot where a lot of fish scraps are thrown in from the fish cleaning table easy food source, among a lot of other species, whenever you do best him the reward will be even better because the determination of getting something like that will be even greater after losing it the first time, I dont think there's such a thing as too heavier tackle for something like that, the size of them things are astounding, but as always great video and all your followers and I wants to see this thing in the future.

Can't let the fish run off like that in a tight lane like that. gotta keep it there and fight till it gets tired and reel in as much as possible. Open Drag is for open water. Of course the fish is going straight for cover. Once it tangles the line around something no chance of catching the fish.

I know it looks that way, but there should have been quite a bit more line on there, so it wasn't the knot. A cut line can also curl if it's stretched and cut going around something.

I saw all youre vids and this was AMAZING ! ! Why you dont use braided wire ?? its is much stronger, have almost no elasticetie , and snags dont dammage it so easely ! Suppose you would have caught it you prabably couldend get it out of the water on youre one. It was probably bigger then you ;-) . BTW happy to see a vid of you again even you didnt caught it . Always happy to see you . Greetings from Belgium ....
