I would have to disagree with you. Having the only one would increase the rarity of that. There are many copies of vhs out there that there is only one graded copy of it. I think the the very first Superman that just sold for 40k was the only graded copy on the market.

Love the content! I have a GI Joe Rockets Red Glare VHS Factory sealed and was thinking of sending it in to be graded. Do you think I should go with IGS/Beckett or someone else? Thanks!

I personal do not like how the display cases look with Beckett. I do like IGS and CGC. They grade the box and seal as separate grades. VGA does a good job as well. They grade the box and seal as one grade. It comes down to your personal preference on case.

I actually bought them for $30 each. These are the first ones that I have seen graded. I don’t know what the market would bring on these. I really like “crossover” collectibles. This combines wrestling and video games into one.

There are a lot of signs to look out for. Vent holes (made by manufacture in the plastic), type of plastic, original price tag stickers, and water marks are some of what people use. Water marks are a good start for someone starting out. I would google those things to find out more about what I am talking about. Also, look at graded items on ebay and other auction house to see what has already been graded. It a good reference tool.

I go through investment grading services (IGS). They only grade sealed VHS. Go to their website and they have an order form to fill out. It cost $65 to get them graded.

If you are getting them sealed to preserve them for your own collection, that's great. But some people are sending their VHS tapes to IGS and trying to double their money on ebay and it just doesn't work like that. There isn't a market for sealed VHS tapes of Back to the Future (even though there have been auctions that make it look that way), or any sealed VHS tape for that matter. The only exception being Nukie 😂 Some people argue that sealed VHS tapes don't make sense since you can't watch the tape. That's the same as sealed comic books. You don't collect them to watch the tape, you collect them because they are rare.

I have a bunch sealed and graded for my personal collection. I do have a couple doubles that I am selling. Those are to fund more vhs for the collection though. Regardless if there is a market or not, I would still get them graded to protect them. That Nukie is crazy right now, lol. Thanks for watching!

I have about 20 seal VHS 📼.. not sure if worth it grading them... I already open Batman returns 😂😂 just wanted to see it on VHS

Even open vhs can still bring some money. It just depends on the type of movie. Most of the time it’s not worth much. Horror movies especially from the 80’s do really well.

Sealed vhs is worth $0.99 🤦🏼‍♂️

I agree. I think grading for a sealed VHS tape is a total scam. It's not like a comic book, or a sports card, it's a movie on tape. With a comic book you can touch it, read it, look at all the pages, the cover, the corners, etc. Same with a sports card. When you have a sealed VHS movie all you can do is look at the box and try to figure out if the seal is from the factory. You are not grading the movie, or the quality of the play of that movie, you are just grading the box, through the plastic seal, and the actual seal. It seems shady as hell to me, and I would never waste a dime getting a sealed VHS movie graded. Is it nice to have them graded for a collection, sure, but we all know that is not what most people are going to do with them. They are going to get them graded and then try to sell them for a big profit. And if they do, good for them, it's a free country, sort of, not so much with the corrupt US Supreme Court we have now. I would just never spend money to get a sealed VHS tape graded, unless it was just for my collection. And I sure will not even buy a graded VHS tape, because all the are grading is the box and the plastic seal, they are not grading the movie or how it plays.

@@stevestewart6287 I can understand why people would want to have them graded. Movies play a very special place in peoples hearts. Especially movies you grew up watching. There are ways to tell if it’s sealed or resealed. Water marks, stickers, plastic quality, etc. I know it’s not for everyone. You are grading the quality of the box just like you would grade a sports card. I can understand the concept of not knowing the quality of the tape in the box. I just it would be no different then grading a sealed box of sports cards. Either way, thanks for watching. I love having these conversations.

@@pickingandpunching I agree somewhat, but I disagree on the grading a sealed VHS movie. It is not the same as grading a comic book or a sports card, it's not even close. You can touch a comic book, and a sports card, look at the colors, the photos, the artwork, the corners, are there any defects, etc. With a sealed VHS movie you are only grading the box, and they saying if the seal is good or not. I see where you are coming from, but for me personally I would not count on the SEALED VHS movie market not crashing some day. And I have heard a lot of bad things about IGS, from multiple sources. Most of them think they are manipulating the market and inflating prices on graded VHS movies. They say IGS is also selling graded VHS movies on Ebay, and possibly having people bid the prices up to make them look more valuable. That would lead to more people thinking they are worth big money, so in turn more people will get old SEALED VHS MOVIES GRADED. I say go for it if you want, I just think it is very risky, and I see a lot of red flags in it. I also think $65 to grade a VHS movie box, is an outrage. I could see $20, but $65 is way too much. It makes me think they are just robbing people. And I would like to know how they justify $65 for grading a VHS movie box.
