As part of iGo’s Outland series of e-bikes, the Cabot RS is primarily meant for commuting on paved roads or paths, but it also has a bit of a wild side! We dive into the details in this iGo Outland Cabot RS review!
Equipped with a suspension fork with 80mm of travel and 27.5” x 2.4” Schwalbe Hurricane tires, the Cabot RS isn’t completely limited to asphalt or concrete. The bike is capable when riding on hardpack - be it dirt or pea gravel - which allows its rider more flexibility than we often see on most commuter bikes.
The Cabot also includes a 500W mid-drive motor with plentiful power for handling hills and high speeds. It uses a torque sensor that allows the motor’s output to adapt to the rider’s effort; heavier pedaling equals more power, similar to an analog bike!
As you might expect on an e-bike made for longer commutes, the Cabot RS has impressive range. iGo advertises up to 60 miles, but we exceeded that claim on our hilly multi-use paths, and riders traveling largely on flat ground might beat the mileage we registered.

I recently bought this e-bike in October, and really like all the great features it comes with. Because I am over 6ft tall, and prefer a more upright ride position, I added a 5 inch handle bar extension, which raises the bar enough to make things more comfortable. It works for me very well. We have some very steep and long hills to climb near us, and using the boost and throttle, I can easily climb them at 24km/hr. This bike is very quiet, and the tires are very smooth. Lots of range on the battery, and the fact it comes with fenders, lights and a rear carrier are all things I wanted in a new bike. We have an excellent i-Go dealer near-by, which means we get terrific service. Looking forward to many years of enjoyment on my Cabot RS.

Hmm.. Do i want the aggresive bent over riding position as my main E Bike? Do i need to buy 4 E Bikes? Are people looking for a bike that does it all and is comfy and relaxed for 30 mile days? Why not have a more upright riding position for my rides and to go to work? My handlebars are set up 6-8 inches above my seat top.. Perfect upright seating for everything i encounter.
