It's a classic mistake. What you've got to do is open up the source code for your firmware and change lag = 1 to lag = 0.

As a loser who games on his phone, I can tell you those phone screen joysticks/buttons are 100% garbage.

My dream is to find somebody as committed to me as Tommy is to this awful, awful project.

He actually went to the next level of gaslighting in his corporate-controlled Reddit thread. Tommy now proclaims "the IGN author played it and said there was no noticeable lag". He's literally going with "don't believe what the guy wrote and you can read for yourself, believe what I SAY the guy wrote". I guess that also means Tommy's previous explanation of "it had slow response because it had an older firmware" was a lie? He saw that excuse wasn't flying. People have pointed out that "a firmware that was a month old" would make it NEWER than the version he demonstrated in Texas that Tommy claims "had no lag". Of course, we have video of that event showing tons of lag and even Tommy having to shake the controller like an Etch-a-Sketch to get it to register a simple orientation change. Tommy at this point must be hoping that if people Google "Amico lag" they will hit his gaslighting Reddit post. And since that Reddit thread is controlled by Tommy and IE, there will be no corrections challenging Tommy's proclamation "Case Closed!".

The fact that they assembled that unit and controllers a month ago and had loaded old firmware onto it either means they are inept or it means that the firmware excuse is a lie. Intellivision comes out looking amateurish with either path they choose to go.

Rule of thumb, don't call people whom are giving your video game product essentially free advertising, "gaming racists". The only guys excited for this thing are 55 year olds who want to force this ancient technology onto their grandchildren... And after 2 delays (and very little to show) I think he's lost some of them too. This is why your cousin Steven Tyler doesn't return your phone calls.

Tommy Tallarico, president of Intellivision Entertainment, father of the "transcendent" Amico and "game changing" controller, an iconoclast of the video game industry, future Flea Market Madness inductee, who is literally building the Amico's by hand in the newly built studio, shipped out a review unit with old firmware. Instead of owning up, he instead is making the rounds on his satellite applause network, who consider him a "real friend", with the most savage no-comeback-possible response ever espoused in the history of mankind of: "I take up so much of their free time 24 hours a day". Truly something that Phil Spencer and Jim Ryan should take note of for future criticism.

The cornhole game should have no lag whatsoever. All you have to do is throw the control at the hole. It does not even have to be turned on.

If anyone needs an example of what "gaslighting" looks like, look up Tommy responding to criticism.

As a parent the only reason Is buy this is too trick my kids into thinking video games are boring AF.

The silly light show on the console and controller must be there to as a lag distraction.

Here's the thing, if this was one instance of lag in isolation, then I would be inclined to believe the firmware excuses. But there has never been any evidence to suggest anything to the contrary to what we have seen so far. Until Tommy is able to produce a production-ready product running at top spec, then the benefit of proof is on him.

Yup. The Amico fan boys said that the system already got great reviews from people like MetalJesus. I pointed out that those were test versions and not ready for retail models. Ha ha ha. Our reviews don't count as we don't deserve to play the system. That's funny. I have an infant and toddler and would love to play video games with my kids. Educational games or PBS games. But, it wasn't meant for me, right?

I can't wait to play Pong with lag...

This is a product that should be priced at 49.95. I'd buy one for that price. But their current pricing is crazy when you can get a switch for about the same money.

God damnit, Dreamcast, GameCube+GBA, Wii U...... I just want ONE of these systems to some day prove and justify dual screen home console gaming in the way I’m hoping for.

In order to help fund the launch of the Amico, Tommy will be selling NFT Amico memes that make fun of how long it’s taking to release this thing.

I don't understand this console. It's meant to be a simple and casual machine, when you can just download stuff for your phone and get a comparable experience. I'd argue that it's even more convenient on your phone. The LED lights remind me of those cheap computer peripherals that have a shit-load of RGB to appeal to the "gamer" crowd. Multi-screen game experiences stopped being relevant after the Wii U crashed and burned. Just get a switch if you want a convenient game experience.

I'm sure it can't be that complicated to get the most up to date firmware to IGN in some form. Even if you can't update it without online, I'm sure something could be arranged. It'll be even funnier if this thing has the ability to update firmware via USB when it launches because then this whole shit fit will be laughable. Literally could have e-mailed them the solution. Of course this all assumes Tommy is an honest actor and isn't just lying his ass off about firmware in the first place, which is the most likely thing here.

So many of us know Tommy Tallarico as the 'bad reviewer' on Electric Playground from when we were kids. To see him speaking out on violent & adult content and haters/critics now is so ironic to me. Search YT for the Electric Playground review of God of War on PS2 and the one for Metriod Prime on Gamecube. So, he crudely celebrated the adult content on GoW and was overly critical of the controls in Metroid Prime, which many people called him out on at the time, even Victor! Now in 2021 he openly rants against people playing violent, adult-themed games and he doesn't want his controls bashed at all. Somebody should seriously do a video with some sound bytes from those EP reviews alongside what he's been saying lately, his comments are eye opening now in comparison. The dude is mad at the current state of gaming, which he himself actually in fact helped to perpetuate in mainstream media. The dude is like the godfather of hate and videogame indecency. He's openly telling people not to buy the Amico outside of the people who worship him, even telling potential consumers to F off. If I was an investor, I wouldn't want people saying that to the customers out there. How is that even logical from a business standpoint?

In fairness now that I think about it they should have compared the lag between the controller and app for the controller to see just how bad the software really is lol.

I am from Germany and have followed the project for a long time. I even preordered the founders edition, but I also think how Tommy is handling criticism is not right. I am wondering whether or not Koch Media GmbH who is the distributor for Europe (and Australia) is still having faith (or even cares)? Also, the 11+ million USD investment money is just a drop on the hot stone. Dave Perry could have invested that amount alone from his coffee piggy bank (if he really wanted to). Anyway, I'll wait till July. If then there's no real commitment from Tommy concerning the October release of a flawless product, I am out too! Keep doing the good and most of all funny job you do guys and cheers from Germany!

There is also 16.4 million tommy raised last year from crowdfunding. The German Gov gave him 880,000 euros. And U.S. gave him $204,000 for covid relief. So he has the money even without Dave Perry. But it is weird Dave Perry didn't give him the money needed. I guess he has little faith and is just letting tommy use his name.

Here's how this situation could be fixed a little, in my opinion. Amico representative while handing over the console for test: Just need to let you know, this is older version of the software that still has some bugs we fixed in the newer version. Sadly we couldn't secure a up to date unit for you to test out. IGN review: The controller was unresponsive, but we were warned before testing the Amico, that the unit we got is not up to date and might cause us some trouble that can't be found in a up to date system. That's also the perfect moment you can offer to deliver updated system as soon as possible for a second test. Is it still bad? Yes, but I think it's looking better for you as a company, when you admit to having a problem before your product is criticized and not after. Especially if you knew that older software had issiues you allegedly fixed later.

As someone who was born in 1986 with an Atari vcs and a coleco,i would STILL rather play smurfs or Porky’s on the 2600 than any of the Amico games they are presenting. And that’s truth. Sorry tommy you’re boring me.

The controller is the worst decision they could have possibly made. The intellivision was my first game system as a child. I loved the system but the controller was the worst piece of shit ive ever used. A modernized version is gonna be just as aweful. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft would have finalized hardware 6 months before launch because thats when the chips need to be ready to be fabricated. Those are custom chips, this is using off the shelf parts. They should have plenty of access to finalized socs. There is no reason the hardware shouldn't be functional 6 months until launch...

I was watching a documentary called Playing With Power and I noticed Tommy was in it . I was wondering why out of all people they could have had in the documentary they decided to go with Tommy. I mean they had some pretty recognizable people there in the interview like Nolan Bushnell, Howard Phillips former spokesman of Nintendo. So then all of a sudden you see Tommy and he's so out of place, I was like who is this clown . Then I recognized him and I realized it was Tommy the same guy Pat has been talking about.

Tommy is a veteran in the gaming industry and has much on his resume. Just sadly I think he is still stuck in the past on the gaming industry. Haven't seen or listened to much of his advertising about the Amico, but what bits I have heard he always goes on about the Nintendo Wii and why that was so successful. While I do understand his point with being stuck on the age of Wii, he dosent seem to understand that game consoles have evolved with the evolution of the internet, and that Nintendo still does offer local play with many of their games lol.

I was excited for the amico over a year ago. But were now months away from the release. I see their KZread channel release stuff every maybe month or bi monthly. That in it of itself has convinced me to completely steer clear of the system. The lack of communication is not good at all. Then when I see videos released it's a bunch of reaction videos. Yeah. It was so unresponsive that the IGN author thought it HAD to be a resistive touchscreen. He couldn't conceive someone in 2021 could have a capacitive touchscreen that unresponsive. That just shows the next-level incompetence you get when you've had (as Tommy claims) "over 20 people" work on the firmware for a simple controller. Tommy is also claiming that the controller has had "no lag" but it's random what each firmware combination (console and controller) will do. He even claims "anybody who knows about software and hardware development will tell you that's a common thing". Um, NO! That's not how that works (as someone who has launched consoles, has been around as long as Tommy, and works on console games to this day). When you eliminate lag in your hardware firmware, it doesn't come back unless you massively fucked up. At each stage of development, you reduce lag and you know where exactly it came from. It's not a game of "lag roulette". So when you update the firmware (and software), you don't touch the things that could introduce lag unless you've found a better way to reduce it further. Tommy, stick to making bleeps and bloops.
