Under IFRS 9, Hedge Ratio should be same for hedge accounting as set for risk management.
Hi Sir I am Ganesan here. I have question. We are utility sector and we got our business awarded. After awarded, we entered two derivatives for the interest rate swap to hedge our interest rates against Debts. 1. Debt for construction, duration to complete is 2 years 2. Debt for operation, duration is 10 years. Since the financial close (the high probable event) did not occur hence kept our two derivatives with goldman open. When the event happened, we cancelled hedging since the high probable event (financial close achieved, i.e. debt contracts are signed) occurred. Now we need to enter into two more derivatives to hedge the interest rate swap as per contract with the lending banks to protect our debt interest rate swap. Now my question is: we cancelled existing two derivatives with goldman and recognised Gain on interest rate swap cancellation into OCI. This OCI will be amortised over the period of construction + operation against the fair value MtM valuation of new two derivatives. Is it allowed our gain to OCI as per IFRS9/IAS39 since it's being hedged against economical event risk considering its effectiveness. Please advise
