Hi Stephen, thanks for your comment. I totally agree with you … but have you already make some videos in a cockpit on your own? You will find below explanations : First of all, sometimes you just can not record the ATC/Cockpit audio … and sometimes the sound is not god enough to publish it. Then, If a video is too long on KZread, the weight in high definition becomes very important (more than 5 go), so that it is very difficult to upload it. You also need to know when you want to publish a video that the Internet users do not watch the entire video when it is too long (You can see that in the analytics provided by KZread). It is the reason why we usually use an accelerated speed. Then, if you use the speeded-up speed you HAVE to cut the sound of the video (Because the sound of a sequence which was accelerated becomes totally unusable)... and in order to avoid publishing a movie without any sound it is better to add a music. I feel really sorry. Here is some videos with the plane’s sound: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z6OI3JugpqWddNY.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/pGqTj5Wjn8bbj7Q.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/npNpy7VsmKzOm7A.html

Congratulations for your PPL and I wish you many flight hours. I obtained my PPL in May, 2006 and I try to fly as often as possible. I have just reached 900 hours (with approximately 150 in IFR). The PA28 is a great plane and I also enjoy flying on this aircraft. My club recently bought an IFR Archer 3. American planes are excellent machines. :-)

  • 2 жыл бұрын

I only see your comment now. This is so recurring as a pilot's remark! You are pilots, but as soon as you edit videos ... you will realize that there is a lot of reason to sometimes delete the sound and replace it with music. For instance, some exchanges must be kept private. Another reason: as soon as the sequence is accelerated in order to prevent the video from being too long ... the sound is no longer usable and it must be replaced by something.

Two questions. Your first landing (the ILS), there was no CDI visible on the HSI until quite late. It seemed like the right-seat pilot might have turned it on. How were you intercepting the localizer? Second, the first landing was made with only one notch of flaps. Was this necessary due to crosswinds?

Hey Francois! good day! Why don't you cut the power on the flare?:D you can miss the touch down markings zone!

  • Жыл бұрын

Hello and many thanks for your comment. During landings at night I usually don’t idle the power lever. I have always been told not to land at night with no power. But, once the plane is down on the runway, I put the power lever on the idle position and use the beta position to reduce the speed. Performing the flare at night is a little bit tricky. In my opinion you need a little bit of speed to maintain an appropriate vertical speed wich should be between 200 to 100 ft per minute during the flare. So it is the reason why we don’t do it with idle.

  • @pilotjenya

    @pilotjenya

    Жыл бұрын

@ thanks for the response. I don’t blame you , just curious :) Trim more and cut it in one smooth movement. It will land faster. I fly m600 and it’s much harder with flare ,But on m500 which i also tried it’s not so critical to land with 75 pounds of torque)

  • 10 жыл бұрын

Cloud Dancer Ok, I fly with both JAA/FAA licenses. With JAA, I guess you will need a turbine transition and a type rating. In the JAA regulation, there is a difference between the SEP (Single Engine Piston) and the SET (Single Engine Turbine). In the FAA regulation, there is no difference. You are simply SEL (Single Engine Land) or MEL (Multi Engine Land). Many thanks and happy flights :-)

***** Of course you got a JAA, you are flying at Europe haha. I don't know what i was thinking. I think there's no need of a turbine transition to fly the Matrix Isn't?

  • 10 жыл бұрын

Cloud Dancer I think you are right. For the Matrix, as it is a single engine piston, you shall not need a turbine transition. But, you might need the complex aircraft, the high performance and the high altitude endorsements (www.piper.com/aircraft/m-class/matrix/specs-performance/). I have seen that the maximum approved altitude is FL 250 ...

Because only very few people (pilots and aviation fanatics) really want to sit through a long video with talking they barely understand. In terms of appealing to a wider audience, increasing fan base and view count, it's better to make a video that will hold the attention of the majority, which usually involves music. At least for now - it'll likely evolve into something else in the future.

Music is cool, but not ALL the time. Would be better if you had music most of the time and only on some points of the flight (line up, takeoff roll and positive rate) you would have no music but cockpit sounds and ATC. after gear up you can put fast forward and music at your own discretion. Also on final you should have cut the music, or at least dim it to the background, no touchdown sound = no flight was made.

    What does imc stand for?

  • 10 жыл бұрын

Hi Leo, IMC is a flight category. It means : Instrument Meteorological Conditions. In a nutshell, when you fly in IMC you are in a bad weather conditions (rain, mist, fog, clouds, …) so that you can not see outside and you need to rely primarily to your instruments. There is a specific endorsement for pilots called "Instrument Rating" which is one of the hardest license to get. You will see a perfect explanation on Wikipedia : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrument_meteorological_conditions

Beautiful video! Could you tell me why you preformed a go around?

  • 10 жыл бұрын

Hello, and thank you for your comment. Good question … I still have in mind what occurred in this very night ! For a head wind, I was supposed to land on runway 23. But, the strength of the wind given by the ATC was very light (less than 5 kts). Even if the weather was nice, as you can see on the video, it was a night approach under IFR. On this field (LFPT), the IFR approach on runway 23 requires to perform a VOR procedure which is less precise than an ILS approach … and in this particular case the VOR track is not completely in the axis of the runway centerline (nearly 10 degrees), which complicates a little the night landing. Because of the very light wind which was given to me, I thus preferred to perform an ILS approach on runway 05, which allows to descent lower (ILS minimum are 474 ft against 1050 ft for the VOR approach). It is the reason why, at the beginning, I thought I could easily land on runway 05, but in fact the real wind undergone was finally too strong. Just before the flare and the touchdown, I was still to fast (and already reaching half of the Landing Distance Available), so that I changed my mind and finally decided to go around and land on runway 23 ... to be able to face a head wind for best security conditions…

Thank you for your comment! I don't understand fully understand about the VOR and all that stuff (not your fault), but i do understand why you performed a Go Around!

  • 10 жыл бұрын

Hi Tobberd. Because of your question, I thought you were a pilot... Radio-navigation aids must provide a certain accuracy and you need to fly with a properly equipped aircraft. You have more precision with an ILS (lateral and vertical signals) than with a VOR (lateral signal). The VOR and the ILS are both instruments which allow a plane to land without any visibility outside. With a VOR a single needle on a dial indicates you the axis of your plane compared with the runway track. If the needle is in the center of the instrument, then your plane is correctly aligned on the runway track, if the needle is moving to the right or to the left, you just have to follow it in order to make it come back in the axis of the runway track. With an ILS you have two needles which provides both lateral and a vertical signals. When you perform an ILS approach, without any visibility, the instrument indicates if you are correctly aligned in the runway centerline (or not) and also if your vertical path is good (you need to be at the right altitude at the right time : not too above ... because you will land too long, not too below ... because you will probably hit the ground before the runway). You can have a look on wikipedia.org to get more informations.

why music in airplane videos is always the same bad?

  • 10 жыл бұрын

Hi txeriff2k6, Thanks for your comment. I am not sure to really understand … If you want to know why I usually use music, you will find below some explanations : First of all, sometimes you just can not record the ATC/Cockpit audio … and sometimes the sound is not god enough to publish it.

Amazing video ***** I really like the PA46 it has a beautiful sporty shape! What a great sunsett too! Though I'm not a big fan of LCDs in GA cockpit (I rather see needles moving, but that's personal jaja), I really like your MFD and the virtual world it shows! I guess I'll change my mind once I fly a glass cockpit for first time. So far I'll have to stick to the good old 150, and leave the PA46 for FSX flying ;) Btw, you are invited to check out my channel. Regards from Argentina

Hi Mauricio, Many thanks for your comment. This is definitely one of my favorite video and one of my best flight at this very time. It is great to be viewed from Argentina ! I would love to fly over your country. At the very beginning, it seems a bit strange to change from needles to screens but after you will love it ... I have seen (and subscribed) your channel. Keep flying :-)

Are you forced to follow the EBAW SID ? You know it's shitting so I think you can take-off with VFR conditions, then you don't follow the SID and you switch to IFR (IMC) conditions :)

+Bourdier Nicolas So I vient de voir that you are français, it's con I écris my last message in english...

  • 8 жыл бұрын

  • 8 жыл бұрын

+Bourdier Nicolas Bonjour, merci.

  • Жыл бұрын

Thanks. I agree but sometimes when you have to speed up the frame during the montage the sound needs to be replaced or erased. In this case, when the speed is increased, a common practice is to change the soundtrack with music.
