Piper Meridian - landing in extreme cross wind!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This video shows the effect of high terrain in combination with a very strong crosswind on the landing in a light aircraft.
This was on a recent ferry flight from South Africa to Germany.
Your comments are always welcomed - enjoy!
Happy Landings,
Capt. Guido

Thank you. I am just another well trained pilot. In this situations it is paramount to use all the capability of aircraft and pilot - but not more. If the conditions exceed the capability, then it is safer to land at another airport with better conditions. Happy Landings, Capt. Guido

Can't agree more, love how Guido always strives for excellence & awesome cockpit procedures in a clear, conscise way that even those with little aviation knowledge get it, no matter what plane he flies
That was some really fine crosswind technique and performance. I’ve done 20 knots of direct crosswind with my Malibu so I know the level of difficulty with the higher crosswinds you were dealing with.

@GuidoWarnecke

Flaps in a C182 up to 20 deg offer stall protection, 30 is just more drag. Important is to use less than full flaps/. Zero flaps is also an option. I a C182, zero flaps creat a bit of a high deck angle. Happy Landings, Capt .Guido

@@GuidoWarnecke Do you put a little aileron into the wind before you kick the rudder, or rudder first? I have heard some pilots like to put in a little aileron first because you get a little adverse yaw which starts to straighten the nose with the rudder. Just curious what you think.
