Very well prepared and explained. It's so easy to get impatient and frustrated with the process, but I understand better now how things need to progress.

Nice video! And how would the lawsuit get closed out if it was settled before trial. Is it a Motion or a form to give the county clerk?

In Florida state courts, a notice of voluntary dismissal would be filed by the plaintiffs to close a lawsuit.

Thank you for this video. It helped me understand why my case has been 4 yrs pending and still waiting. By the way i am the defendant and i am eager for the suit to come to trial due to the fact that this woman lied, made false reports and her only witness is her son and wants 1 million dollars that even the state said this case has no foundation and like other lawyers said this case is stupid. Anyway. Thank you for your point of view and a little bit on insight on how the system works

@@LawyerBritt as a civil lawyer may I ask what other than hearsay and a family member as a witness would she need in a civil case lawsuit? I am the defendant and all they went by was her word and ger son without really investigating.

Whats the statue of limitation for civil? Ive waited almost a year and a half and nothing is happening

I'm not an attorney, but I'm pretty sure once your case has been filed, it can go indefinitely if need be. The Statute of Limitations is from the time the incident occurred to when you sought legal action (filed your case). That time period allowance, probably varies from state to state.

My lawyer sent a letter at the beginning of my case to the defendant to aware them and a month went by. My lawyer then told me the letter “wasn’t acknowledged”, so they sent another letter. Can a defendant not respond? And is there a time frame that the defendant has to respond by? My case is setting off too slow already. Is this proper?

You can go all the way through trial without the defendant, they can't ignore a judgement. You need a new lawyer.

@@farwestchamomile How can you go through a trial without the defendant? Doesn’t make sense. And it’s a little excessive to get a new lawyer because a defendant didn’t respond to a letter yet.
