If your a new tattooist, watch this.

Dealing with the public when you first start tattooing can be difficult. 9/10 you will get good clientele wanting a tattoo cheaper as part as your new journey, but sometimes you have to deal with difficult people. As with any field of work your in. How to deal with it is another question. Always be respectful, and try offering ways to make the client happy. Sometimes you need to block people out because it just isn’t worth the hassle especially if you have confidence and have pictures to prove the job you have done. You can’t make everyone happy. You just don’t know what’s going on in their life.

Also a good point to add a disclaimer to the consent forms that if they client doesn’t follow the tattoo aftercare it’s on them if the tattoo is messed up

Just wanted to drop a huge thanks for what you’ve taught me over the last 4 years. I never thought back when I was drawing realism that I would ever be able to replicate any of it on skin. I now feel confident everytime I place that stencil and honestly a lot of that has to do with you so keep doing what you do brother. Btw I bought the inkjecta flite nano when I saw one of your videos and didn’t like it at first because i had problems lining and packing but A few months ago i swapped the cam for a 3.5 and used the med torsion bar canted at a 45 degree this thing just does what i want it to do everytime now and its my favorite machine now by far it’s weird haha

Totally agree with you, if she gave money back, she's admitting that it's not a good tattoo. Stand by your work!

I’ve been tattooing a few years and have seen artists go to court over situations… this baby tattoo is so small I honestly would’ve bumped up a needle size and ran over it again for half of the original price. It’s a win win, you get more money, they get what they want and feel like they got a half off deal.

Didn't sound Luke the client wanted to pay more for the tattoo, I thought that was made fairly clear, she wouldn't even let her touch it up for free she wanted a refund. So offering her to go over it again for half the original price probably not the best angle.

I tattoo as a ( hobby ) I can’t drawl very good but I can tattoo like no other. I have people that are booked out for months I do them when I want for whatever price I want. I’m known around my area, other “professional artists” know who I am. My wife gets asked all the time who did her arm (full color sleeve) we asked around in a 100mile radius of us and they were outrageously priced and out of 15 shops only 4 wanted to do it. I did her sleeve and me knowing that I can’t drawl and did her sleeve that professional artist turned down has gave me such a boost in confidence. I learned in the past couple years to ask my clients certain questions and test them. If they don’t really know what they want or don’t care I won’t tattoo them. They are the types of clients that will gripe and complain about how they wanted it differently. I just recently did a memorial tattoo (stairway to heaven) tattoo and I asked the client atleast 5 times if the date was correct. He stressed to me it was right 3 days after I did the tattoo he messaged saying it was the wrong date and I messed it up. He went on to tell people I fucked it up and wanted me to fix it but I refused. I sure did refuse and had people messaging me asking why I refused, because if he’s going to slander my name I can’t trust my clients to give me a reviews. I can’t agree more on this pick your clients and figure them out they could easily ruin your reputation no matter how good of an artist you are!!!!!!

I’m a great fan of your work love watching your videos I’m currently learning myself on practice skins just a quick question it’s fine if you don’t want to answer but when I tattoo my own leg for my 1st skin tattoo what’s the best way to get a strong stencil? I have spirit paper but also have an eco printer which is best hand drawn or printed either ecotank or thermal?

Tell her to wait until the tan fades. People can clearly see the tattoo is well executed, the client has no argument. My advice would be to the tattooist is to have a disclaimer that her clients sign before the work commences regarding aftercare and healing.

Hi Oliver, I want to ask about another topic different from the video. I reviewed your review about the Acus M1. Your review was really great. İt helped me a lot. I have been tattooing for about 2 years. I've used Kwadron Proton 3.5 so far. It's not a bad machine. I like it. I usually do realistic work and sometimes thick lines. I also want to start doing colored tattoos. Now I want to switch to a wireless machine. The M1 Acus gives the features of almost all the machines I need. This machine is amazing. But will I have difficulty using the machine? Because it was a little different from other machines. Should I start directly with this machine?

Do you think it would be worthwhile to have clients sign a secondary consent after the stencil is placed that states they are satisfied and/or agree with the size and placement of the piece?

I live in Germany and I had an asshole client like that recently... a women also... I refunded her the money back and she still reported me to the police for "body mutilation ", even though the tattoo healed perfectly! She is trying to get more money from me! I had surprise visits from the authorities but they found out that everything was according to regulations so , as the policewoman handling the case said, the client has close to zero chances for the complaint to be advanced to the state attorney! But it's still stressful waiting for the decision! I will anyway take action myself against her if the case is dropped and I'm declared "innocent"! I will want my money back for my work and compensations also! PS: She also didn't want any touching up... just refund... no matter what I offered to her! Lawsuit hunter!
