    rollback changes that. you may not like strive specifically but hopefully other games down the road will have it. ive been playing guilty gear +r to prepare for strive, the way you find people in that game is you join the +r discord, and you assign yourself a region. then you make a room, copy the invite link (you'll see the command for it ingame), and paste it into the discord server followed by @newbie. for me someone newer to the game always comes through, it is consistent. but when strive comes out my relationship with +r is over

    I'm not gonna lie, I played fighting games casually all my life like MK(1-3), SF2, Altered Beast, Melee, etc and sucked at them but was good enough to beat the games' story modes, beat some friends. When I got DBFZ that was the first time I really dedicated myself to learning a game with content like Dustloop, LK's channel and others like him. Honestly, making the commitment to a widespread game that is easy to pick up is a great first choice.

    What's funny is that when I started playing/getting into FighterZ when it came over time I slowly started playing more and more different fighting games and even when smash brought Terry I even started trying "footise" styled games like street fighter and KoF ect than just anime fighting games. But honestly I'm glad I did recently I'm just play almost every single fight game (maybe and exaggeration) but I if see or here about and look it up a FG or see a character and I'm like "I want to play this game cus of I like this character for x reason" might be "shallow" but in all honesty I like playing FGs often time for the characters. and while I'm playing a lot of them but focusing ones I want to get better (sometimes that being a lot of them lol )and other to play for fun in the but end weather I'm good or not I like playing Fighting games cus their fun often times sometimes with set with your friends and getting better along the way for tournaments and watching people like you LK often times I feel better listen to guides or video like these of Fighting game content creators on YT.

    Maybe it's because I'm more into platformers, metroidvanias and JRPGs but I have a hard time entering the mindset of just playing a fighting game. I can do it for a while in SP modes (even then the CPU kicks my ass sometimes on Normal) with something like MK or Soul Calibur but multiplayer is always a big problem for me. I lack the proper reaction time to respond to some stuff. Probably it's also that I'm the only one with a slightly higher interest in the genre in my circle of friends. I remember the only time I was invited by them to play a mini-tourney of Tekken 7. I won, but we never did it again after. Am i cursed LOL ?

    So I know this comment is pretty old at this point, but I wanted to say I was the same way when I started to show interest in fighting games. The way I got a bit better online is eventually I found out the best way to start is to go into online fights with nothing more than knowledge on when to hit heavy buttons and trying to never get hit/defense. Those two things can easily win out against a bunch of low gsp sweats trying to do 18 hit combos when they haven't even learned how to block. Slow and steady can get you to the real starting line much better, and I hope you one day get into multiplayer fighting games!

  • @Realmidboss

    @Realmidboss

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@MetalandMGS That's the main problem, I'm not steady at all with the genre. I may play it for a week (not even every single day) or two but then I go back to other genres I'm more into like the 3 I mentioned. Any kind of knowledge I have probably gained in those weeks is probably gone off my mind now since I need to remember stuff from work and how to handle the machines. Also the whole "keep on playing even if you lose" doesn't help because after a whole day of me being the punching bag for 90% of the matches I've done doesn't give me the motivation for continuing. Even with more accessible games like Strive it's a strive for me to understand and have fun with them (I really don't get some of Guilty Gear's basic mechanics like Roman Cancel of the super meter that goes back to zero at the start of a round). I may find a character in a game that clicks with me somehow like Akatsuki or Miyako but there's still the general problem of the genre for me in general. I do find curious that the most fun I had with those games besides the SP content is with games developed by French Bread tho.

  • @Realmidboss

    @Realmidboss

    2 жыл бұрын

    Another problem is that FGC here in Italy is limited to the big ones like Tekken or MK, we don't even have locals for them TBH, there's only stuff like nationals (even for other genres the online gaming scene is still rare than other places in the world). So, lack of time on my hand, lack of effort and willing to remember stuff from the games, lack of places to play locally, being the only one in my IRL friend compay that has a bit of interest on the genre. A lot of stuff that makes me drop every FG I try.

  • @Realmidboss

    @Realmidboss

    The only time I really got invested on an online game for a long period of time was with the CTR remake but even then at some point there were a lot more days where I was dragging myself every single day to play it in order to get points to unlock stuff rather than having actual fun with it.

  • @MetalandMGS

    @MetalandMGS

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@Realmidboss Well thats all an unfortunate circumstance of events, though to be fair where I live in the US has no locals for anything at all, period, other than Smash tournaments so I can kind of understand. But, if you just don't have the desire to put in the initial work to understand the genre then yeah, it'll be like that for as long as you may continue to dip your toes. What it took for me personally for it to finally click was a few attempts into playing USF4 when it was still new, playing randos online until I just felt comfortable and got wins every few games or so. Fighting games have the biggest barrier to online entry out of any genre just because the online killers are real in any game, and the fact most other online games have a team to help pick up any slack you might be dropping since you're new. In fighting games, it's JUST you vs someone else. If you lived closer id say id play some rounds with you but rollback dont work that far, lol. Sajam said it best one time, some people just like to hop online and hit buttons once a month, so if thats the only way you can or want to experience fighting games, theres nothing wrong with that! I just hope it clicks one day for you, and you can find someone to play with thatll have a decent connection

It's like boxing you can't just throw haymakers you got to build momentum and hit small into big moves. And don't focus on combos good basics will partly make up for it
