I love that Caleb x Jester didn't happen, makes his onesided love much more tragic and beautiful which fits caleb so much, ofcourse I want him to be happy but he is 10/10 tragic chracter.

@@k.whatever9046 I think it's more like, Travis got comfortable with the concept (romantic, but in chutney's case, the whole flirting) when he used to be against it in his playstyle of DnD. Laura kind of had him open to the idea of trying stuff that he was normally not keen on doing in a game

Life needs things to live. Specifically, it needs diamonds worth 300 gold pieces, or more depending on how unalive someone is.

@@williambarnes5023 your wrong in a couple ways. Doctors don’t decide the price, they follow a guideline given to them, same goes for the judges. They didn’t just make it up willy nilly, they have a range they have to follow and a guideline that dictates that range as well.

Every time I circle back to these two I'm fucking ruined, especially the tragic firebug that is Caleb. Lovely animatic as always Lin, but gods damn did this ship rip my fucking heart out. No shade to Shadowgast, but Widojest just resonated with me more. And Lin, your animatics and art well and truly brought that shit to life in a way I haven't really found elsewhere. Cheers to the Mighty Nein, for changing our lives for the better!

I agree I love my hot boi Essek but Jester was just a perfect character that just drew Caleb out of his misery shell, and even when she very early on was telling the audience that she was going for Fjord I would have been happy with an OT3 cause he had mad chemistry with Fjord as well.

@@belindalee5561 Agreed, though, while not as romantic, I still think I enjoy the Shadowgast situation of essentially two addicts being there for each other to keep on the straight and arrow. It just feels quintessentially Caleb. 2 parts hopeful and one part heart-rendingly tragic.

I think it was definitely the more interesting ship, Fjord and Jester also made since and it's what happened, but Jester and Caleb would have been epic.

Oh, this is beautifully connected. For a second there, I didn't get why these scenes were edited together, and then it made so much sense. Well, you've made me cry. Hope you're happy! (Seriously though, this is gorgeous!)

I like and love all the couples that came out if this campaign, but calebxjester will always have a special place in my heart. They balanced eachother out so well imo.

Widojest just keeps pulling me back in. It's one of those ships where it truely was Rolling in the Deep, because *_WE COULD HAVE HAD IT AAAAAAAAAAAALL_*

Everything Widojest you make is just PAIN in the best way possible 👌👌👌

This gave me tingles. An amazing scene perfectly adapted for us lucky few critters who will get to see it. Thank you for work, I appreciated it very much and will certainly be coming back to it later.

Damn this was awesome, I’m blow away at the combination of scenes and feels from separate episodes and scenes

Goddamn, ur making me remember widojest after so long and how much I love this cruise ship but also reminding how I sank with it along with everyone else. No shade against the other ships but it's just heartbreaking to see how well they go together but in the end go too separate places

Lordy this campaign has been done forever ago and this scene still gets to me! Excellent job yanking water from my eyeholes! Looking forward to your next masterpiece.

I found Critical Role through your Widojest animatics. I laughed and cried and fell in love with the Mighty Nein while watching campaign 2 and I want to believe I am a better person because I've had that experience. EPISODES: If You Survive: 131 / I want to bend reality to my will 18 / Jester's death, Caleb saves her 140 I just have to sit down when I think about that Caleb set out to bend reality to his will to right his past wrongs but instead overcame his regret and hunger for power and used it to save the one he loves,, And then just a few moments later Jester resurrects him, and he accepts, he accepts coming back to life and he knows it was her, that she saved his life in more than one way,,, I MISS THEM SO MUCH 😭

Oh, when he teleports that book into the ground, between them. Oh, Liam, what a story. He really did make Caleb come to life. Now, personally, i felt that Caleb becoming a traveling illusionist/magical artist would have suited him better. Becoming a teacher felt a little shoehorned. Island-Caleb was really in his element, doing things he wanted to do, not because there was some goal or destiny to achieve. Just a guy helping out his friend to do cool dick things. Then again, I guess Caleb is the type of guy who would nurture his artistic side like an amber on the inside and committing his body and mind to serve something else because he thinks he needs to be put to work.

I miss them so much too. The best similarities and differences between characters and the players playing them, the best group and individual interactions, the best story(ies), the most heart and laughs and things to say with backgrounds, character and setting/missions. One is great, EXU is outstanding, campaign 3 is fun and good enough so far (more fun than story driven for me, but we shall see where it goes). I think part of why I miss them is that it was the best grit role has been, even tho all the other stuff is good. And it felt like, rather than future books or comic books, I really could see them making it to level 20 and it still being enthralling. Here’s hoping we get even more one shots with them than they did with campaign one characters

I really miss the Nein too, as much as we all love Vox Machina, C2 is my favorite among the three. We were with these chuckle fucks from the beginning and watch them transform and overcome their demons one by one. Their story wasn’t a grand journey to dethrone budding gods and fell larger than life foes, but one of personal triumph. They wanted to stop a war, they wanted to be better to their families, they wanted to be free, they wanted to make up for the past, and they wanted to bring their lost friend back home from the void of red. Such simple yet profoundness from these 9 is why I love them so much. Though small in the grand scheme of the world, they are and always will be mighty.

Be it work or a game of DnD When Liam O'brien and Laura Bailey act together it's the stuff of legends

Thank you! I really wanted to channel that Caleb, over everything prioritized Jester being safe and happy. She didnt needed to be his, she didnt even needed to know it was him who saved her. The knowledge that the world turns and she's still on it was worth it for him.

Everything about her is so well balanced while every quirk stands out. The horns, the hair, the shape of her face, and her teeth showing, even her postures feel unique to her character. But my god, those freckles are my undoing.

Probably not, I mean he came close with Essek but the different lifespans of humans and dark elves was too great and that would've led to soul-crushing heartbreak. Also Caleb still believes he is unworthy of love, Ikithon ruined him beyond repair.

@@deathbykonami5487 After thinking more about it, I don't think he was ever truly in love with Jester and was instead rather drawn to her happiness. I think it's easy to look to others for escapism and since Jester had such a rose tinted perspective, he never felt vile for his past when with her. However with Essek, they're both murderers and guilty. If he was ever to truly be able to relate to somebody, it would be him. At the end of campaign 2 I was sad they never kissed or anything to state their relationship, but that totally makes sense. I think it would take a long, long time for them both to come into their feelings and to feel more at ease with eachother. Jester can throw herself into any feeling but Caleb and Essek are a lot more wary, careful and suspicious. Most of all they feel that they aren't good enough for eachother. It would take long, long talks and a lot of reassuring but eventually I think they would find a sense of belonging with eachother. They are both soft bois who would have a home full of cats and books and they would endlessly share their passion for knowledge with eachother~ I think if Caleb was to ever fall in love, it would be with Essek.

@@keixsy it'd be a platonic love if anything, especially since drow live longer lives and if the Highlander movie taught me anything (other than that Queen's music was decades ahead of its time) it's that the pain of watching the love of your life grow old and die while you remain young and ageless is soul crushing and Essek, who was already a broken man having betrayed his people and almost burned all of Wildemount in the flames of war, that would've killed him.

Idk if Matt's overall lore is different from official 5e lore but flying cities and mageocracies existed during a time when magic was available to everyone and was not just limited to 9 levels. To say the Somnovum are just "Wizards" is *SEVERELY* underselling how powerful they were. A vanilla Archfey ain't got sheeeiit.

It's Campaign 2 of Critical Role! :) The campaigns have little connection to eachother except the shared world, but you can watch The Legend of Vox Machina, the animated series for Campaign 1!

I'm only slightly mad at this, I had just watched the first scene from this clip and recognized the title, so I thought it was going to be a cute little clip about jester asking caleb to draw dicks then I saw Jester get absolutely obliterated by Lucien and I closed the video immediately. it wasnt a spell! They were fighting the Somnovum and the unique part of the fight was that depending on how many eye marks they had, they could roll and their thoughts affected reality - essentially bending reality to his will.

I wanted these two to be a thing so desperately. My headcanon is that things don't pan out well with their respective partners and they end up together anyway. I know it never happens but....my goodness. I wish it did. ❤😍💜 always love your animatics.
