I also never snorkel. It's where the shark is looking for its prey. usually bites are accidental. But accidental bites even on a hand can infect massive nerve damage and your wife is opening your ketchup bottles for you for the rest of your life.

I think the reason why the shark didn't engage the people at the beach was because of how calm they were so the shark didn't take a chance, because when predators see prey, they swim or run away but when they don't, there's something wrong, of course this doesn't happen all the time, and that doesn't mean you can now walk camly passed a lion and it won't attack you

I mean, did you miss the clip where the shark swam right towards the moray eel to fu*k it up? Sharks recognize familiar prey based on a ton of factors, such as their many senses. The hammerhead simply didn’t find the humans to be worthwhile prey. Those species rarely even eat things similar to their own size.

Those ladies (I'm assuming by the hats they were wearing) were really lucky that the hammerhead decided they weren't food. And that shark who *almost* got in the cage looked like he got about halfway in it! Too close for me! I went with my best friend and her family on a beach trip when we were 12. We were in the ocean far enough out that we were in the water up to our shoulders. Two guys came up to us a little and told us to not freak out and don't move. We were surrounded by a group of jellyfish! We had no clue. They were the small ones that you can pick up by their tops and toss them away from you. The boys got enough of them away from us that we had a path we could escape from. I've never gone that deep again lol. 😅 we were very very lucky those guys saw what was going on and saved us.

Hammerheads aren't much of a danger to humans. The water was clear and it could see they weren't his prey, that's why you saw it turn away. Hammerheads often hunt in shallower waters because they love sting rays, who also often hang out in shallow water. Especially around where I live. We've had a good number of hammerheads coming almost right up on the beach and if you walk the beaches here in the late afternoon and it's really clear, you almost always see sting rays (or step on them, as I have several times. Sometimes they bury themselves in the sand and you don't know they're there til you feel it squirming out from under your foot). However we've never had even an accidental bite by a hammerhead. They can move quick in their zig zag pattern in short Burts before having to rest before trying again- they're not going to waste their short energy burst on you.

This is probably one of THE BEST compilations of shark encounters I've seen so far. If you've clicked on this channel, give it a minute for the "Wicked Wombat" to do his thing and then sit back and be AMAZED at the shark footage. By the time you get to the end, you'll find you didn't mind the 30-seconds or so of the animated wombat. (Which I played again!!!) Good job on the video, man!!!

What a fantastic way of putting humans on the sharks menu, every time we are around them, we bait them with chum in the waters or feed them fish, so they associate us with food. magnificent creatures, vital to our ecosystem, if your not in the water with them that is, if you decide to go into the water, don't blame the shark when you bit or killed.

Exactly. What makes sharks any different? We don't feed tigers, bears etc. it's upsetting and people need to stop. The amount of people on this video feeding them is crazy. Of course sharks are getting bolder. And it seems like there's more sharks. It's because they've been trained we equal food. Cruise ships are also bad. They literally dump all trash including poop and plastics into the ocean. Vile.

Another time a guy my Dad knew down at the beach was apparently tuna fishing off the Oregon Coast in an 18 ft boat and saw a Great White that was as big as the boat. We had a 20 ft Dory boat that a family friend has and still take me out on and I keep thinking how crazy it would be to see a fish almost as big as the boat.

In regards to the fish aquarium reason behind having a sting ray in the same tank as the shark is to feed the animal as if they were out in the actual ocean n having to hunt for their food.. So the Hammerhead was in a mixed tank (you could see other shark types and a turtle in the tank as well). Large aquariums put together a realistic ocean environment. However, they also generall hand feed all of the sharks in order to reduce the chances of sharks feeding on the others. Disney 's Aquarium does this. Which is why you can scuba dive with their sharks and be relatively safe. Of course as in this situation with the hammerhead shark... the unexpected happens.
