    It's funny how stupid people can be, and how mad they were/are at GS for making dynamite business moves and acquisitions as usual.. smh. *Had good teams offered KD or Cousins respectable offers, they wouldn't have been so willing to sign with GS in the first place. You gotta game every other team around the league for being careless and/or not trying hard enough.* The Warriors had nothing to lose by signing DeMarcus. Especially after he couldn't get a respectable deal, signing with GS was the best of a bad situation. And moving Harrison for KD was a no-brainer. KD going to GS and playing there was not an absoutle certainty. Otherwise KD would still be there if it meant that much to him. GS was the only team that needed a better forward and was also a championship-caliber team. KD got his chips, while still getting very good money. *Hate'em or not, it was an undeniably smart choice to make, both as players and financially, as a team and for every player on it.*

  • @nbayoungboy1059

    @nbayoungboy1059

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@YankeeD23 id have to disagree, KD already had a championship caliber team in OKC and if he wanted to stay in the west and still be on a competitive team the clippers and spurs were 2 options that had the potential to make it to the finals with the acquisition of the most skilled scorer of all time. It comes down to KD wanting a easy ring. Their loss in 2016 was the best thing that could've happened to them since KD likely wouldn't have joined them in 2016. I'd like to add that the only reason people hated the qarriors was because of KD I dont remember the warriors getting as much hate in 2015 and 2016 as they did in 2017. Kd made a soft move which no player have his caliber had ever done and were likely not to see it happen again at least for another couple of years.

    I first started watching Basketball in 2012, so as a Warriors fan, I'm pretty lucky cause I got in right when things were just starting to turn around. I was there to witness the whole journey you talked about in this video, and I appreciate you for spreading these facts. There is just one part of the video I disagree with though. And it's the credit given to Mark Jackson as opposed to Steve Kerr. I GUARANTEE you that the Warriors would not be the dynasty we know them as today if it weren't for Steve Kerr. Mark Jackson on the other hand wasn't a terrible coach, but he wasn't spectacular either. He did a good job of putting all the pieces together, and setting the team up for success, but he couldn't unlock the full potential of team he created. First of all, he had a huge ego, and he fired an assistant coach because he felt threatened. He also played favorites with his players. You might hear good things about him from guys like Steph or Draymond, but some of the other players would give you a different story. And he just didn't have the same creativity, vision, and basketball IQ that Steve Kerr has. His offense was uninspired, he relied way too much on isolation and post-ups, and he didn't properly utilize Golden State's strengths. He tried playing Draymond at the small forward at first. And it just took him way too long to realize Draymond deserved to start over an aging David Lee. He also didn't realize that Harrison Barnes should have been starting over Andre Iguodala. Once they brought in Steve Kerr though, everything changed. I mean, 51 wins is nothing to be ashamed of, but I fully believe the Warriors had the potential to be that 73 win team as early as 2013-2014, maybe even 2012-2013. Steve Kerr really unlocked Golden State's full potential in a way that Mark Jackson never could have. He realized Draymond's versatility and put him in the starting line up. He realized that Andre Iguodala's best place on the team was as a 6th man that could just be brought into a multitude of different roles when they needed him. And he absolutely brought out the best in his players, especially when it came to Steph. Again, I fully believe Steph was capable of being that MVP caliber player as early as 2013-2014, maybe even 2012-2013. And most importantly, Steve Kerr basically invented - or at least popularized - the current style of basketball. The emphasis on the 3 game, the use of screens, the small ball, the ball movement, the off-ball movement, even the "switch everything" method on defense can all be traced back to the Warriors under Steve Kerr. As a Warriors fan, I'm 100% sure that although Mark Jackson does deserve some credit, he doesn't deserve nearly as much as Steve Kerr. Edit: There's also a really interesting video on the difference between the Mark Jackson offense and the Steve Kerr offense made by Bballbreakdown back in the 2014-2015 pre-season that totally predicted the future. It really highlights some of the things Steve Kerr did to turn the Warriors into the dynasty we know them as today. If you wanna check it out here it is: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oWenpZhmlpbXaag.html

    As a Clippers fan, it hurt to see the Warriors rise to the top of the league because I knew after 2015 the Clips didn't really have a good chance at the title, but I had a lot of respect for the Warriors. Although I didn't like Draymond, the Warriors in 2015 and 2016 were fun to watch and played some of the most entertaining basketball I've ever seen. Like most people, I absolutely hated them once KD joined. The 2016 finals is easily one of the best I've ever watched and the second KD joined the Warriors I knew we weren't going to get something like that for a long time. I feel like most of the hate the Warriors got was due to Durant joining them after they beat him in 2016. Easily the weakest move in NBA history and it's because of that the Warriors got so much hate.

    @TruMusic89 Nothing was ever unfair in either conference, it's not like other teams didn't have the ability to sign Lebron, he just didn't choose to sign there. And it wasn't Lebron that upset the balance in the East, it was KG and Ray Allen. It's not like Miami's big 3 was a death team like the Warriors' was. Lebron formed a championship team in order to contend with Boston in the East, KD left a contender in OKC to join a team on par with if not better than Lebron's Heat team. What KD did isn't comparable to what Lebron did. KD and the Warriors weren't hated because KD basically guaranteed them a finals appearance every year, they were hated because they destroyed the parity in the league. Before KD joined the Warriors, there were 4 legit contenders in Golden State, Cleveland, OKC, and San Antonio. When KD joined, Golden State leaped so far ahead of everyone that it became boring. Lebron's Heat teams were good and the most stacked in the NBA at the time don't get me wrong, but it was nothing compared to how far ahead of the competition Golden State was.

  • @mikeoxlong9223

    @mikeoxlong9223

    3 жыл бұрын

    @TruMusic89 I don't think you understand how far ahead of everyone else GSW was when KD joined. The literally swept the West and then beat Lebron's Cavs 4-1 in the Finals. The Spurs were definitely contenders in 2016 and 2017. 67 win season followed by a 61 win season, and then an 8th seed in a season where your best player is out most of the season because of injury. Lebron and Wade averaged 25+ but after that you had Bosh who wasn't as good as Toronto Bosh, and a bunch of solid players. That Warriors team is easily the most talented team in history. And appreciation for KD joining the Warriors? That didn't mean Lebron had to work for a ring, it means that unless an injury or serious choke job he wasn't going to win a ring. He's always had to work for a ring, more so in some years compared to others but aside from 2017 and maybe 2016 he always had to work for it. No matter what team you're a fan of, you can't argue the league was amazing during the KD Warriors era because literally only 2 maybe 3 teams if you include Harden's Rockets had a chance at winning. It was literally when parity was at its worst. Look at the numbers as well, the early 2010s with Lebron's Heat team didn't ruin the parity of the league nearly as much as KD's Warriors.

People who do what youre saying dont fight their hearts out and try to play with injured calfs or torn ACLs. Steph had 47 and they were still down by 16 in the 4th and he was diving on the floor playing his heart out. 2019 proved they wanted to win and were as much of warriors as anybody else.

    @@banks4777 but you could argue being cocky when its justified is not necessarily a negative thing. Kobe and Jordan would count down from 50 to humiliate their opponents. Bird would say the move he was gonna do before he did it. Steph was a looked down upon prospect. By his third season people didnt know if he would stay in the league due to injury yet he came back from this to become one of the 15 greatest players of all time. That warrants a little cockiness imo.

    Also the fact that it felt so damn lopsided 3 of those 4 years. Warriors were instant favorites and the Cavs were constantly playing “catch up” nearly every game. Even in 2016. It’s looked at more so as a miracle to have pulled it off due to some circumstances. Warriors were way more dominant and it’s clear Cleveland needed another star player to compete with them once they got KD. If they had Bron Kyrie Love and Paul George for example that would’ve been a balanced fun ass matchup. I was sick and tired of seeing the same teams in the finals but more so tired of knowing the Cavs had no chance. If they had a 4 all star superteam with PG13 or someone like that I definitely wouldn’t have complained. Would’ve been a lot of fun. I hate super teams with a passion overall but from how the league was just 2 years ago and the super team era taken over it would have been more suitable because I wanted nothing more than balance.

    Kevin Durant litteraly joined a 73-9 team...... I can respect that they drafted the other 3 dudes but kds move will always be weak and all of his rings have asteriks

    That's like saying majority of championships have asterisks cuz the winners have way more star players than the competition for example magic lakers,jordan bulls,Duncans spurs and more

    @@grizzly6925 no. it's not the same at all. Warriors had 3 of the best shooters in the NBA a dpoy in Draymond green. Former all star and lockdown defender Andre iguodla off the bench And 2 mvps on the same team. It is the largest collection of talent on any team ever none of their rings count. Even before kd joined they only beat the Cavs because Kyrie and love were out On top of all that talent they also are very lucky when it comes to star opponents dealing with injury Kawhi cp3 Kyrie love all of their chips have asteriks when you really remember the context

    The first couple of finals before KD I didn’t hate on them or anything. Everyone just hates how KD joined an already 70 win team to make the nba finals a forgone conclusion.

    He used steph wrong, making him shoot a lot a of midrangers. Mark Jackson also ran a lot David Lee post ups, which aren't the style the warriors should have gone for.
