If you don't eat this in Vietnam, you made a HUGE mistake!!!

Cơm gia đình Hiền Ty - You all know this place probably pretty well by now. Well, it was time to come back and eat some more! I must say I love this meal and these people! Doesn't get much better for me than this right here.
goo.gl/maps/6Bi291kXmjs5X9tQ9
Linh cafe - This was a nice choice, I love the Ca Phe Muoi so much and I think I am addicted.
goo.gl/maps/Ym8c9PvhApxCpTPR8
Chè - There is also an older lady that sells Che here in the morning that is good. I suggest you eat both and compare!

The most impressive thing about this video is that Max could eat the 'Mam Tom', a fermented shrimp dish which has a very strong odor even to most Vietnamese. If he can eat 'Mam Ca', he would be the GOAT in my book. My wife is Vietnames, and whenever she decides to eat the 'Mam Ca', the kids and I would leave the house for at least 2 hours, and of course I would sleep on the coach that night!

Max, found your channel today and subscribed. This is the quintessential travel food channel. Your focus on Vietnamese food is unmatched. I'm ashamed to admit that in my many years of traveling to East and Southeast Asia, I have not visited Vietnam. Your channel may change that for me, and I will be taking your recommendations to heart. Big, big thumbs up!

Of all the places that you've shown serving home-style types of meals, this is by far the BEST. Everything looked so fresh and delicious, too. I love the whole fried catfish in tomato sauce my dad made growing up, so I assume that was their version of it. The ribs, canh chua, stuffed tofu...that's my childhood, right there. The owner is super nice, too. So was the man/hubby out front. Most professional operation for home cooking you've showcased so far.

There are a lot of things I like about this video: the aerial views of beautiful Dalat, adding dessert and drinks back in (been missing those for a while), showing the cafe scene, the funny pop-up phrases on the screens (very cool and humorous addition), amazing food spread, etc. Camera still shaky, though, but I'll let you know when it's better because I'm a critic with opinions! Hahaha! Audio could use a bit more tweaking as well.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy when he has friends like Chris and Bao and others who help show him new places but these videos seem more passionate and authentic. Bring back those money bites. Even if you have to go back to tried and true places rather than new places. Anyways, love the fish soup and fish in tomato sauce. Classic dishes. Da Lat isn't far from Nha Trang, hope you go back to one of my fav video of yours at Bún Cá Nguyên Loan where you have that banh mi xiu mai. One of the best money bites. If I ever get to Vietnam, probably going to stay in Nha Trang.

I’m not Vietnamese but a fellow SEAsian, and we share a lot similarities in our food. But seeing how Max was so blown away by our humble bean curd dish, on how to prepare it and all, he said about having layers and whatnot, kinda funny to me. Some backstory, every ten year old SEAsian kid, who’ve ever helped their moms in the kitchen would be able to make that with their eyes closed. Don’t get me wrong, I love Max. But this just put things to perspective of what we take simple things like that for granted because for some reason, foreigners are impressed by em

Imo as a Vietnamese, Asian flavors are more rich and savory than Western flavors because of a number of things that go into them, so it's totally understandable why the flavors seem more complex. It's why spices were among the top things traded on the Silk Road between European and Asian countries in the distant past. Not only that, Vietnamese (and probably other SEAsians) in particular have a great understanding of food and how to turn simple ingredients into delicious dishes while keeping multiple flavors in balance with each other. I think this translates to a dish having "layers" to them.

A very minor clarification for your viewers who may not be as familiar with VN cuisine': it is called "family meal/rice" because those are dishes that everyone's mom makes for dinner every night and eaten in a shared plate way exactly as they are serving it. You can go to vietnamese "family meal/rice" restaurants virtually anywhere and those will be the same/similar dishes that will be on menu. If you go to a Vietnamese factory where there is a cafeteria preparing lunch for the staff, it will also be similar dishes. It is the VN version of comfort and staple dishes. For things like banh xeo, you'd almost always go to a restaurant. For ground meat stuffed tofu in tomato sauce with steamed rice, that's what mom will put on the table along with 3-6 other dishes every night.
