@@mtndewisawesome3951 that doesn’t make it self defense though. They have to be actively threatening you. In America, you could be charged with assault or murder for attacking someone if they’re running away, even if they tried to kill you first. Not saying I agree with the US self defense laws, but it basically has to be a very clear threat of bodily harm. Domingo was 100% incapacitated here, and the legal thing to do would be to turn him into the cops

Walt killing Jacks crew could have been labeled as self defense, considering they were planning to kill him. Also vigilantism because Walt saved Jesse from being enslaved and tortured.

It's not self defense. It was premeditated murder. He was planning on killing Jack and his crew for months. He went to Jacks compound with the intent to murder him and his crew. He ways also planning on murderering Jesse however he changed his mind because he saw a badly abused Jesse and felt sympathy for him again.

It isn't self defensive if you've planned an attack preemptively and deliberately put yourself in a situation where you can reasonably expect the need to rely on deadly force against another person (or persons) to save yourself from bodily harm. If I come to you with a gun and trick you into threatening me so I have a pretext for shooting you with it, then it's not self defense. That's a bad faith argument. The amount of effort it takes to engineer a weapon like the mounted gun in the trunk shows it's clearly premeditated. The attack was not in response to an unforeseen danger. I'm not a lawyer or anything obviously but I read up on this once after reading about a man who went to prison for booby trapping his own property rather than contacting the law when he knew someone was intending to break into his property. Pretty fascinating subject matter actually.

    1. Walter drove to THEIR house and rigged an M60 to kill them all, so the intentions mean nothing. It's premeditated first degree murder of several people. 2. Walter is the one who put Jesse in that situation in the first place, so the human trafficking and enslavement is equally his to blame. Y'all know you don't have to make Walt the good guy all the time, right?

To be honest, Walter has become the very thing that is known as a super-villain, he has ruined his family and friends' lives, to the point that they don't trust him anymore, hate him for the rest of their lives , and some of them are dead by Walter's hands. He basically ruined everyone and himself, just for his pride and ego. If he have treated his cancer properly, he might have not become such a heavy sinner and an A Class fugitive.

@chrisxuan4641 exactly right, Breaking bad is a tv show where the villains are protagonists. For Walter's family did not feel comfy with him around anymore, this is because he committed assault and battery to his wife, family abduction on his daughter, and attempted impersonation and money transfer for his son. He even cause the death of his brother-in-law by luring the Neo-Nazi leader in to kill him, leaving Walter's sister-in-law without a spouse for the rest of her life. That's mentally absurd, watching a man change from loving fam to remoreseless killer.

I would like to add, as someone very versed in Firearm Law and Ethics, at 9:45 Walter would have also been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun/NFA (National Firearms Act) Item, which would have likely landed him 10 years in Federal prison on top of all of those Murder charges, along with a hefty fine. As well as unlawful transport of an NFA Item without Licensure since, iirc he bought the M-60 Machine Gun used in the Episode in another state, but I could remember wrong. Just thought I would put that out there. Machine Gun = Any Firearm that shoots in a Fully Automatic manner (1 trigger pull = Multiple Rounds fired at once until the Trigger pull is stopped or the Firearm runs out of Ammunition) Semi-Automatic Rifle/Handgun = (Legal to own without Federal Firearms Licenses, 1 trigger pull = 1 projectile per pull)

Not to mention the state of New mexico doesn't require a firearm license for possession or acquisition for any non NFA firearms and therefore the charge mentioned at 0:22 seconds doesn't apply. Also since they are literally in the middle of the desert, there's no way he'd get charged with simply discharging a firearm out there.

The ironic thing is like Walt says to Hank. Due to his cancer and the amount of time it would take to procure evidence as well as charge him, Walt would never see the inside of a jail cell. He would be far too sick and would likely would not be charged in time by the prosecution. You also forgot to include that he laundered all of that money first through Walt Jr. website and also his car wash. While Skyla did most of it, Walt would be charged with conspiracy or money laundering himself.

There is a whole dirty laundry list of all the awful things she's done throughout the series. But you've seen the show. And it sounds like you may have watched it recently, so those should all be fresh in your mind. And if you're just going to imply that I'm simply misremembering the events at hand, then you've already made up your mind about her and there's no convincing you otherwise. I won't accomplish anything by going into the nitty gritty details of whether she's at fault for Ted ending up disabled, or the moral implications of letting your little sister think you had absolutely no role to play in her husband's untimely demise. We'll ignore her little idea about paying Hank's medical bills with drug money too because we certainly wouldn't want that and its consequences in Season 5 to be taken out of context, right? All I will say is she and Walt are a match made in hell and Walter's greatest crime was convincing the police and a large chunk of the Breaking Bad audience that Skyler was a victim and not every bit the selfish, manipulative, trash human being and criminal she was shown to be. It will forever baffle me that the writers deliberately chose to write her this way, but they can't seem to wrap their heads around why she was so despised at the time

0:20 New Mexico doesn't require a permit to own or posses a handgun, nor does the state law require registration of firearms. As Walter White is above the age of 21 which is the federal minimum age to possess a handgun, the possession of the gun in this case is legal. However, the argument could be made that since it isn't his gun, and instead the gun belonging to those other guys (whose names I do not remember) he could be charged with the use of a stolen firearm. also: some, but not all counties in NM have passed local ordnances forbidding the discharge of firearms outside of gun ranges, depending on what county this scene takes place in, or if he's on federal land, a charge for illegal discharge may or may not apply. edit: Additionally: Walter's use of the M60 machine gun in the last episode is illegal as to possess an NFA item such as a machine gun requires A WHOLE BUNCH of paperwork as well as paying a $200 dollar tax to the A.T.F

Missed a few crimes still, like meth production in Ep1, and the production of a controlled and dangerous substance (fulminated mercury). Few other things like that. Sure he gets the main crimes like USING the contraband products and assaulting/killing others, but there's a few logistical crimes like production and acquisition that lead up to the main crimes. Maybe the prosecution wouldn't bother going for smaller charges when the big ticket ones are easier to prove and convict on, but if they wanted to bury Walt in charges they absolutely have more minor crimes to lump him with. Additionally, doesn't include the pre-Gus meth production and distribution charges, the possession of several other illegal firearms (notably the automated and likely illegally modified machine gun), attempted rape of Skyler, sexual assault of Carmen at the high school, breaking and entering into Jesse's apartment (possibly something like wilful negligence for letting Jane die?) intentionally causing a crash to divert Hank (reckless driving, which he's also done frequently throughout the show). There's probably also conspiracy charges for being an accomplice to other murders and crimes (such as helping Todd hide Drew Sharp's body after killing him to conceal another crime), the murder of Lydia via ricin, stealing the car in New Hampshire, helping Mike dissolve Victor's body and other corpses in acid barrels (also including Mike's body later). His involvement in the deaths of Hank and Gomie (two FEDERAL OFFICERS) is iffy as he prompted the shootout and ultimately escaped police custody, but also wasn't aware Hank and Gomie would be there (so he intended for the Neo-Nazis to kill Jesse I guess, but is still likely culpable for them killing Hank and Gomie regardless). Although it wasn't true (greatly exaggerated to spare Skyler criminal charges), Walt would also get coercion, harassment and possibly imprisonment(?) charges for the crimes he "admittted to" over the phone, taking culpability for Skyler's misdeeds as being under threat by Walt.
