We love frutiger aero, thank god windows media player still has that frutiger icon. Unfortunately there were many problems with the aesthetic. For one it was hard to scale up and was extremely expensive to make, 2 .svg (scalable vector graphics) couldn’t mimic the frutiger style but it was way less intensive and way less expensive to have a bunch of math that could render the icon for you, that’s why minimalism took over. Now we relate to the frutiger aero styles of the past and yearn for them back, but it would just look bad on modern displays.
