If I see someone in the middle of nowhere I'm passing straight by, waving as I go. If you stop the car it's over, next thing you know someone else you didn't see has you at gun point. If you believe the person might need help, DO NOT STOP. Just call 911 (or your country's equivalent) and stay on your way.

I love listening to stories about skinwalkers, ghosts, and demons but stories like this...about evil people just looking for a victim, that's terrifying and these kinds of things happen daily. I know I'm never stopping for a stranger but if my kids are in the car I won't even consider it. I'll just call the police down the road.

So I didn't listen and I stopped on the side of the road when I seen someone. It was a dark and snowy winter's night, I was on my way home from a long night of Uber-ing people around the streets of Boston. I had just got onto the interstate 93 N heading to my apartment in Lawrence. I was driving my four door pickup truck so it was a very smooth ride and I wasn't worried at all about any black ice or snow that would've been lingering on the asphalt. I've been out since about 11:00 AM and didnt actually start Uber-ing until about 12:35 PM. As I've said, it's been a long night, and after 12 hours of driving with your status set to available with Uber, they tend to set your status to Offline for 6 hours due to the safety and concern of their Drivers so they may take some time to take a break from the constant driving. And boy did I need it. Heading home is usually only a 30 minute ride back, on this night however it was a bit slower due to the wintery conditions. I had the radio on and was listening to a nighttime talk show to keep me some company during the drive, after a few yawns, laughs and maneuvering around salt trucks, I had finally made it to my exit. Now at the end of the exit ramp theres a stop light with a crosswalk so the end of the ramp for the safety of pedestrians to cross when clear to do so. By the time I had come to slow down and come to a stop, I would be sitting for about 30 seconds for the light to finally turn green. I let my foot off the brake pedal and slowly depressed the accelerator in order not to slide my tires along the ice. After a few lefts and rights I had come up to the second to last stop sign before my apartment. Before I could finish looking left and right for any oncoming traffic or pedestrians, I heard a loud bang on my windshield. I looked over and nearly jumped out of my seat when I seen a large man and what appeared to be his daughter both covered in winter coats and hats soaked with snow. "Please help." The man said in a weak tone, I hesitantly lowered my window just enough to hear what they had to say. "My minivan's battery had died about 4 blocks that way" he said pointing the opposite direction I had come from. I was a bit skeptical at first but I couldnt refuse to help somebody with a cold child due to the fact that if it were me and my kids in the same situation I would be doing the same thing that this guy would be doing, hoping that somebody with a big heart would help me out. So, I let them in and he directed me to his minivan, after a quick u-turn it was straight up ahead only about 2 minutes away. As we approached I seen a mother with 2 infants in the back seat, the man introduced himself as, let's call him Bob for safety of his identity and his daughter who will go by Alexia. He thanked me for the ride and I handed him my jumper cables to which he connected one end to his car battery and the other to mine. After a minute of waiting the car started right up. He and his family thanked me and went on their way and I on mine. After finally pulling up to my apartment parking lot, I recieved a text from my wife saying that we need some drinks and coffee and cream for the morning. I gave out an exasperated groan and shifted the truck into reverse and headed towards Cumberland Farms. If you're not familiar with it, it's basically a 7-11 that usually has a nice convenient store with a wide variety of snacks and drinks to choose from. So, I pulled in, got out of my truck, headed inside and grabbed a few cans of Arizona iced tea, I got a few different flavors, and a carton of light cream and a box of k cups for my wife because if she doesn't have her coffee in the morning she can be a real monster. Finally as the cashier rung up my merchandise, he bagged it all up and I inserted my debit card into the card reader. I headed back to the truck and was greeted by a local police officer I've known for a while. "Its a little late for you to be out now isn't it?" He said jokingly. "I could say the same for you officer heavyfoot" I laughed back at him. "How was your night?" He asked. With a sigh, I replied, really long, cant wait to knock out when I get home. How about yours?" "Oh, mine just started. I'm out on patrol now so I figured I'd stop and get a few snacks and things to keep me going before anything happens tonight" he said with a smile. "Well go on get home I wont keep ya, you look tired. Say hi to the family for me" "I will, let me know when you're off one day, the kids have been wanting to see yours" I said as I hopped into my truck. "I'll be off Tuesday, call me anytime then. Goodnight!" I shut the door and turned the key. Finally I can head home and sleep. I headed back home and parked the truck. I walked into the building and headed up the stairs to the second floor. It wasn't too bad seeing as how my apartment is the first one from the stairs. I opened the door and took off my coat and shoes, I put all the drinks in the refrigerator and set the kcups into the sorter we had for it. I headed into the washroom and took a quick shower, toweled myself off and put on a fresh pair of black sweatpants and a black panther t shirt I had gotten for Christmas. Finally heading into bed, my wife asked me how my day was. I had told her about the long hours and customers in between, the family that needed help. She asked what happened, to which I exhaustively told her about the dead battery and jumping it and coming home, going back to the store and back again. She looked at me and said "Didnt Mr. Creeps tell you not to stop for anybody along the road!?"

Anyone who lives in the country or on backroads knows this. Never pick up strangers, never stop for barricades, if you get a flat all of a sudden keep driving and wait til you get somewhere public before pulling over for a cop (this mostly applies at night of course but some of it is applicable in the day as well). @@xXJLNINJAXx It would be more of a funny scary story, about how their illegal charades where interrupted by the amazing, yet humble, military veteran who didn't take no shit from no one. They would be stumbling through the dark, as their pursuer(wearing night vision goggles and protective gear) chambered a round in his deagle chambered in .50 AE. Their escape would be fruitless and they would ultimately get smacked, if ya know what I mean ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). Just kidding, but seriously they would die.

listen to scary stories at 10 pm while home alone? great!
