Welcome to the Letterman KZread Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.

A final round of applause for The Belz. Rest in peace you lovely man.
RIP to The Belz. Stand-Up LEGEND.
Had to watch this clip in honor of the Belz. I saw him do stand up. I liked his dryness. He had a late nite show where the off camera producer had to suggest an interesting question to ask a pool pro he had on one nite. You could feel the tension through the TV. The Belz did things his way.
The people I grew up watching on TV seem to be passing everyday now. RIP The Bell.
Rest In Peace. I forgot he started as a comedian.
Rip Richard Jay Belzer, you will be missed
RIP RICHARD BELZER THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES INCLUDING LAW AND ORDER SVU
I both love and hate this channel at the same time, because sometimes this channel is how I am notified of celebrity deaths and sometimes I dread seeing people I am huge fans of being uploaded thinking they may have passed and have to look it up to make sure either way. Rest in peace Richard.
Very smart, cool guy. R.I.P. Mr. Belzer.
I’m told but can’t verify that there’s a complete compilation of Richard’s appearances on Dave somewhere on the KZreads.
I've never seen him do stand up, only in the movies and sitcoms.
I wasn't born when Dave debuted during late night, but luckily for KZread, I'm able to relive his hilarious past!

I can't tell you how wonderful it makes me feel when someone feels so compelled to remind all of us original viewers of our age.

In a way, you're lucky. I was 12 when he went from the morning show to late night and I stayed up until 2am every weeknight to watch him right until the end (and then another British show from 1:30 to 2am). I blame Letterman for my awful grades but the fact is, even with 8 hours of sleep, I still wouldn't have paid any attention in class.

@@Genious. high school was rather optional for me...I quickly learned that I only needed to show up for "home room" to be counted as having attended...then I would just walk off and have a nice lunch and see a movie and be back on time to catch my bus...no one was aware that I did this...lol

@@Genious. I think anybody alive after age 40 is fairly lucky.
Belz was one of the best!!! R.I.P. and thank you for all the laughs!!
RIP Belz, one of the greats!
RIP Richard Belzer
RIP. He also appeared on the movie Scarfase 1983.
Well damn, I've watched Scarface dozens upon dozens of times and have that "dry dream" bit memorized to heart by now, and here he is opening his set with it. Guess I would've thought he wouldn't use his main material in a movie!
Belzer was another of those comedians that surprised me that he lived this long. Not unlike Richard Lewis. At least The Belz didn't go out by suicide like his Father and Brother.
Love his wit...loved him on Law & Order
This was a great bit from Belzer. Hilarious stand up comedy
Back when everybody was going to the barber shop asking for the David Brenner look.
The first time I saw him perform was in the movie "GROOVE TUBE".
Man, those guys on SVU must have had a riot working with Richard Belzer ! What a funny ,funny guy .... All the best from Scotland!
Crazy to reference 'Nightshift'( Henry Winkler n Michael Keaton) n Scarface( Al Pacino) n the same interview.
ah, the rare early Al Pacino impression before Al discovered HE REALLY LOVED YELLING ALL THE TIME!

The movie he was referring to was Scarface, so yeah.
This channel doesn’t usually do uploads on Sundays: my first clue that Richard Belzer just died.
Pretty funny stuff. I loved his Munch character, watched him for years.
I had such a big crush on him!!! His Jagger impersonation is classic!!!
RIP Belz great sense of humor.

I really enjoyed watching Richard on Homicide, Life on the Street. I also liked Andre Braugher on there. That show was allegedly "the best show no one is watching", according to TV guide. I watched it religiously though and loved it.
RIP. Very original in his time.
I never knew he was a comedian, only Law & Order. RIP
Apparently Belzer has died…tributes are just trickling in. Laraine Newman and Marc Maron tweeted about it. RIP.

He's alive, he just is no longer interested in reality. Conspiracies only. Plus his sub takes up most of his time, she's 26. Also the island ferry doesn't get out to shangrila all that often.
The Belz beats up The Fonz. :) Love Richard Belzer.

Icon of the Law & Order franchise, Richard Belzer leaves the scene at the age of 78. The "Law & Order" franchise is one of the longest running on American TV with 22 seasons. This Sunday (19), the series lost one of its main actors: Richard Belzer, who played detective John Much for more than 300 episodes. Stand-up comedian and actor on the Law & Order: SVU series, Richard Belzer, left the scene this Sunday (19/2), aged 78. He played detective John Munch in the American police series and left the production in 2013, after participating in more than 230 episodes. The outcome was confirmed by friends to The Hollywood Reporter. There is still no information on the artist's cause of death. Belzer was born on August 4, 1944, in Bridgeport, United States, to a Jewish family. As an actor, he starred in famous series such as Miami Vice, The flash, Lois & Clark, The X-Files and Arrested Development. Through social media, friends and former co-workers mourned Richard's death. Actress and comedian Laraine Newman said Blezer was one of the funniest people she had ever met. "I'm so sad to hear of the passing of Richard Belzer. I loved this guy so much. He was one of my first friends when I first came to New York to do SNL. We used to go out to dinner every week in Sheepshead Bay for lobster. funniest people ever. A master at crowd work," he wrote on Twitter. Playwright Warren Leight highlighted the qualities of the actor and comedian. "Richard Belzer was the first actor to welcome me when I started at SVU. Open, hot, bitter, whip smart, surprisingly kind. I loved writing for Munch and I loved being with Belz," he said. The cause of death was not disclosed. But, according to Scheft, the actor had "various health problems" and died at home in the city of Bozouls, in southern France. Follow your path in peace, aware of the mission accomplished.

I’ve seen him in films/tv but had idea he was a comic. Very funny guy. Feel old understanding all the references in this bit. 😅
All these videos seem to worry people about if the subject is featured in memoriam. But what video will they release when we lose Dave himself? I bet it is well planned out like they did in preparation for the queen.

I wonder how much Dave had to pay to keep that little bit of The Rolling Stones in this video.
hey dave, ever think the reason you're having trouble walking and standing up these days is because of all that stuff you drank on the show?
That was mildly funny I guess?

@@dkonciousblkfemknightman Belzer's critics are not crazy in the least. His hyper-confident stage persona covered for generally witless bits. He thrived when good writers provided him strong material. Of course, his sad death makes this a time to appreciate what he did well, not criticize his shortcomings. RIP Richard Belzer.
Not funny at all.
