Have you ever repaired a window motor? The motors have plastic balls in the head that break apart. You can put metal ball bearings or metal dowels that fit in place of the three plastic balls. I have done this many times. I love your channel, I live over in Jackson County not far from Marianna, FL right down the road from you.

That’s old school know how right there. I was wondering if that fix would get mentioned. I did that repair on both of my previous fox bodies.

Rebuilt both of my power window motors, super easy and saves some coin. Works great, just replaced grease & rollers. You can get the parts to rebuild. Cost me under 20 bucks and still factory parts. The plastic rollers get chewed up and break into little pieces.

A trick I like to do when using a socket to feed a bolt in place is putting a small piece of paper on the bolt head and then shoving the socket ontop.

Nice to see this. I had thought about taking the power window stuff out of my parts car to put in my coupe but I kinda like the fact it has crank windows. My arms are long enough to reach the passenger side with no problem lol

You made putting that armrest back on look easy, I always have to fight getting the bolt holes lined up.

i like how you show the ups and downs of hotrodding!

for those that have to tackle this, make sure you have a set of door panel tools to remove the panel. Those cardboard backings weren't the strongest when they were new let alone almost 30 years old at least. Don't grab and pull the panel or use a screwdriver, it'll pull the pin thru the cardboard backing!

Good one Bud, I use to have 3 foxes , never changed out a window motor, not too bad, changed out electric door locks, but the window motor looks easier. Very cool video.

i use a pocket extendable magnet to start those armrest bolts. Works like a dream.

@@BREW2LFOXBODY I've replaced both motors on my car, now years later the driver side make the MACHINE GUN sound, it does not stop automatically, could the bolts loosened up causing gears to jump? Thank you in advance for any response. I'm thinking maybe some loc tite.

i actually paused the video to see if anyone said anything. Used to install stereo's and accessories back in the day and that was the worst part to me.

A friend of mines Foxbody has a driver side window that doesn't roll up or down,but the window motor makes the audible noise the motor is supposed to make when the gear is spinning.What component could be checked to see if it's something besides the motor?? I was thinking if the bolts had loosened up that retains the motor to the door,could that cause the motor gear to move far enough away from the large curved gear that neither would be engaging or could the large curved gear have come loose instead causing the same symptom?? Thanks

Good stuff. Those are much easier than the square body Dodge trucks. The local paint and body stores tend to carry the panel fasteners.

Oh, use a small piece of tape on the arm rest screws (to the socket) to hold them straight so they align up.

What about a window that is a little “jumpy” on the way down (Fox Body)?

Seems to be plenty of parts for powered regulators, is there any for the manual regulators? Broken bits in the cranking mechanism. 😟

I had to change the regulator assembly in my 93Lx the teeth stripped but it has roll up windows and manual locks.

Hey I have a passenger side window that only works 10% of the time. Works briefly then stops.. I put new switches in, still doesn't work. The switch has power too it.. Any idea what it could be?

Is this the same on a convertible? I have a plate in front of that whole area.

Dont get any lube into the over run slip clutch. You know, when the glass hits the top or bottom so it wont strip the gears. If you do lune it the window wont work/ too slippery

MAn I did them all at the same time...Def do yourself a favor and order the rivet gun from LMR for the lock actuators

How do you determine if you need just a motor or the regulator

hey this is completely off topic of this video but i thought youd know, i have a vortech supercharger on my 1991 5.0. i dont know why but the whole car is just vibrating at idle and it gets worse when i rev it while it park, you know anything about this?

It’s a little easier with the 87 through 93 4eyed fox bodie Doors don’t have a speaker so it’s a little more complicated to get it in I have an 86 mustang I just done it no more than two months ago

That's the same motor used on kwikee electric steps on rv's.

I wish lol, try changing window motors on a early to mid 80’s fox that doesn’t have door speakers. Royal pain in the arse lol

Joy's of doing it yourself..just saved yourself hundread bucks or more..I have no idea how much a shop charges I do all my own work.

I'm at the point that if my door panels come off.....There is 0% chance they survive.
