Of all their releases Garage Days revisited has been my most played from the beginning. The recording just has so much spirit. Light as air yet sharp as a razor.

The thing I don't understand at all is 1) why James and Lars would think turning the bass off was a good idea 2) why Jason didn't go "wow, timeout guys. Where is the bass? Are you intentionally trying to ruin the album?" People trying to make up excuses like "they were still mourning Cliff" is just hilarious. As if they wouldn't allow bass to be heard unless Cliff was playing or that having inaudible bass somehow honors their former bass player 😅

I'm not gonna lie the black album has one of the best sounds in Metallica discography in my humble opinion.

Iit's THE BEST sound. it's the coronation of what master of puppets was supposed to sound. that boogie mark sound, a fat bass and explosive drums. and the best Hetfield vocals ever. You might not like the songs per se, but the production is phenomenal.

If Orion was on the black album it would have lyrics

Hey man, all I can say is that this is beautiful. TBA was Metallica’s first perfectly produced album, at least to my ears. MOP was in my opinion their best album musically. You combined the best of both. Cheers!

This is the most grounded comment and I agree wholeheartedly. Composition of MOP is timeless but the sound Bob Rock got in the BA is stellar even to this day, any producer worth it's salt will tell you.

For me while MOP sounds more polished I prefer Ride the Lightning as it has more of a thrash feel to it. Both were awesome.

First of all, awesome work. Really loved the re-harmonization and the strings arrangement. But to be honest, this sounds more like a cover than a "black album" recreation. Anyways, this sounds beautiful. Edit: Just wanted to add that it would have been cool if you kept all the Misery stuff. Like the half time beat and the riffage, like you did in the intro and solos.

@@Steesia Yup, and I can tell part of the song "Orion" has some "Helpless" from Diamond Head based in the movement on one part. Funny thing: Diamond Head got that part from the band Strawbs from the 1973 song "Down By The Sea". If you listen to "Down By The Sea" with the intro and even the outro, you will hear it.

Ah, fuck..! The intro is so good! You did a great job :) But once that beat hits, you realise this has no place on the Black Album :)

Initially I wasn't interested in the black album but after hearing it there are some killer songs on it. In my opinion it was an improvement on And Justice For All but I think Ride the Lightning was the best. I'm glad Orion was on Master of Puppets as I think it fits in very well with that album.

Orion is a masterpiece no matter what album it would have been on.
