Wow a real miniature game review, and not some friendly flip through. Thank you for being critical of a miniature gaming product. The game sounds amazing, I was always tempted but no one told me that I could be playing the game in 10 pages. Sign me up.

It's perhaps worth noting that while the game is DESIGNED as a solo system, it's easily adaptable to either co-op or PvP mode with a little imagination. Similarly, while it definitely has a Firefly/Serenity feel to it, you could just as easily make it work for a 'Star Trek:Voyager' or 'Star Wars:Mandalorian' type of setting - starship with a small crew engaged in a series of loosely connected, quasi-legal adventures.

I'm really late to commenting on this (as in years) but I really love this game. I have added some house rules to the combat system to give it more depth - and I find it creates very interesting games where I care about the characters and their stories, and where I enjoy the battles. I play the game with a journal to track the stories and add details. Your review convinced me to buy the 3rd addition a couple years ago, and I can't thank you enough.

That's a heck of a book review! Yeah, the fact that I could immediately figure out how combat works combined with all those awesome random charts really sold me on the game. 2e was certainly a lot easier on the printer, but 3e is visually spectacular! Thanks for the video, the hour just flew by!

Excellent review of Five Parsecs from Home, 3rd edition! Thank you for covering all the details to help me make a purchase decision (I own FPFH, 1st and 2nd edition). Does 3rd edition include formal rules for psionic mind powers? That was one, important thing left out of 2nd edition; although, there was an experimental supplement called "Mind Bullets".

I am on the fence about ordering this. I looked at it when they first announced it but I have a reservation and I am hoping you can answer it for me. Is the system or 5 Parsecs flexible enough to allow me to nix the aliens, and/or create my own "world" or items and custom ships in a scifi setting? Also are the rules all inclusive because if I understand correctly, it is a 5 Core Engine thing so are those mechanics/rules included in this book?

“Miniature-agnostic”? LOL. Man, I hate that term. Don’t you people mean normal, as in what the norm was before GW and other big name exclusivists started forcing all their products on you, and prohibited the use of figures from other manufacturers in their store-played or tournament games? In other words, miniature-agnostic is the orthodoxy, not the heresy. Their forced products tactics are the heresy. I think things started going south when companies stopped telling you to write in your house rules whenever you came across something that was unclear. And when they stopped encouraging you to make (or kitbash) your own terrain and scatter pieces, instead of being nothing but a consumer.
