@@wisteela some linux drivers aren't great. (Looking at you nvidia). But driver Installation is far more complicated on the Windows side. (Especially if you want to have all the latest versions of them.

0:15 missed opportunity to point out how absolutely lethal sigkill is on linux. On windows, you tell a program to kill itself, on linux, it's already dead before you finish the first word.

1:38 - "entering the terminal" I miss seeing the Linux terminal aka CLI (Command Line Interface), at least for a quickie 🥺 but it was so great to at least see a real terminal with real people! So fun! So great video!! 10/10 as always or almost always!

you know over 92% of the top 1000 steam games work through proton at silver or better under proton, right? And even of those that are bronze and below, several of them are just shitty bug bags to begin with, so they're just bad on both windows and linux. Of the ones that don't run under proton, almost all of those are because the developers intentionally chose not to enable anticheat support, despite it now being widely avaliable and as easy to implement as ticking a single box. (some are more complicated of course, but the point is it's a developer choice, not an inability to run the game) I seriously don't get why this "it doesn't work reliably" thing keeps popping up, least of all for a immutable device like the steam deck which has device specific tweaks to further boost compatibility.

As a longtime Linux user, these are very accurate. Although, things are better now than 20 years ago, even than just 10 years ago. And for sure they've always been better than Windows. I'd suggest a video on Windows taking over the world, but sadly that's the world we're already living in.

Actually, Linux already Tooks other the world. Half the internet using Linux in the backend and from top 1000 servers, it's even 97% Linux. Google, Meta and Amazon are using Linux in the infrastructure and even Microsoft developed several Linux Distros for replacement of Windows Server in their backend. Azure Cloud, Xbox Services, Xbox Cloud Gaming, OneDrive & Co are running on Linux.

Lol😂 this was too funny, I currently use Garuda Linux which is based on arch. This video is accurate. 🎉maybe I should install arch on my windows too 😂😂😂

There are whole businesses around linux, Redhat revenue is more than 4 billion dollars a year, it was acquired by IBM with more than 36 billion dollars more of them in cash (more than WhatsApp, and WhatsApp deal was not in cash, but rather stokes in fb). Then you have azure, and aws which is basically linux for rent. And you have android which is basically a platform to consume content and apps.

no worries, you won't be missed. other os'es are a big business. they need ever growing number of customers. linux is a global community project. we users need it way more - than it will ever need us. that unless you are a top contributor / kernel developer. and even then someone talented can quickly take your place, carrying on from where you left, should you defect.

@@kolz4ever1980 Linux is on nearly every modern device in existence. Not only is it in your TV, Fridge, Microwave, car, phone, etc, it's on nearly every server on the internet. If it isn't a desktop, chances are it's running some form of Linux. And every supercomputer in existence as well. If windows suddenly ceases to exist the world will just keep trucking. If Linux ceased to exist it would stop in it's tracks.

It might be "on everything" yet except what matters the most. the bootleg ass community made os doesn't even get thought of 99% of the time when any program is made for it from companies and even is clearly said the user base is so small it's not worth to bother with lololol. I guess that goes to show how important it is.. Great it can host a server for a real os to play on, great. Let's not forget how it just started using hdr recently slightly or how it can't even use hdmi 2.1 fully and has constant issues with many programs leading people constantly having to use bootleg ass alternatives to cope with. Literally no one else than a linux user is gonna give a shit what the server is hosted by but they will care what works.
