I liked the solution: a limited number of Starlinks are available, basically for schools and local governments. So apparently the man's family and all of his neighbors are going to wait for Comcast to repair all the lines. Solving problems and getting things done. Yep.

I'm a 57yr old 4th generation Floridian and I have never seen a governor get things done like DeSantis does. We are extremely luck to have him, the thought of not having him scares me. When I hear the media trying to smear him it makes me boiling mad.

It's very refreshing to see a man of action & not just a guy who spits out words to see if they stick? DeSantis gets things done. It would sure be nice to have a few more people like him who cares about people & their needs?

As such, that is the real coup and every one of them deserve the punishment that the USC sets out for treason.

Here in California, the average politician would have promised to take a bill to the capitol that would hopefully prevent this from happening next time, but definitely would not have had a feasible and relatively easy solution ready to roll out like DeSantis did.

At the end of his discussion, he mentioned that his ground guy would get with the county - which ultimately means that they would be lobbing some calls into Comcast’s ground guys for that county (I think it was Charlotte county) - to see what is taking so long. The Governor isn’t going to give the fellow a starlink device, but he also wants to hear what’s working and what isn’t working. My MIL is in Port Charlotte - and they’ve had spotty internet service, but every day it seems better - good chance that the Gov will find out why the eastern part of the county is having more trouble, and they wlll address it at his next press conference. (Maybe an infrastructure issue exists, or maybe this guy’s location is next to be connected, who knows?) But the Governor actually listens and then executes for the people.

It's nice to see a politician actually tuned into real life issues and to be knowledgeable about it too, to the level that he can suggest a resolution to the problem. Most would say they will look into it and pass the buck to the person applicable to solving the issue but the fact that he can hold a conversation and input his own experience, knowledge of a matter really speaks volumes as a politician and I'm sure reassures those seeking answers too. Most politicians will either give empty promises or avoid giving an answer.

I just love how Comcast got called out for sitting on their ass. Hurricane happened 2 weeks ago and they are still customers to wait a month or two? Absolutely disgusting company. Be interesting to see what the company’s response is now. Just watch, won’t be surprised if suddenly internet is restored this weekend.

I am on the ground here in Ft Myers and I can tell you 1st hand that the job our agencies and Governor have done is simply AMAZING. Sanibel temp bridge is up and running and the Pine Island temp bridge was up very quickly. Nothing short of AMAZING! We took on extreme damage but I could not have asked for a more competent and quick response from leadership. Thankyou for all that came to our aide. We will rebuild better than ever.

I work for Spectrum. I been working 12hr days 7 days a week since this happened. It is amazing how fast we got people up and working. Been hearing alot about other companies though.

Its amazing to hear a represented ask "what else do you need?". He is clearly a representative for the people.

It makes sense for Starlink to service natural disaster prone areas where infrastructure frequently is damaged.

When we were hit by Frances in 2004 (a much weaker hurricane) sections of the county were without power (to say nothing of internet) for many weeks.

We had about 2 to 3 weeks, more or less, with no power in the Keys and south Miami-Dade county after Irma 4 years ago.

I like governors who can stay focused with the person who asked for help, and actually offer something constructive. Rather than pivoting away and talking about Starlink for 5 minutes. Starlink isn't going to be made available to the individual who asked, or the tens of thousands of families who don't have the important internet service utility restored.

Here is a Public Servant who is 150% invested in his constituents and takes his job seriously! Wish he had the time to teach Emergency Preparedness Strategies to every City, County, State & Federal Agency in the Country. If nothing else, good grief, PLEASE help GEMA get their act together!! That agency, for all it's 'experience', as my father would say is "About as much help as a whirlwind in a s**t storm". If you count on FEMA to save your life, or be of any real help during an emergency, you better have a plan B, C & D.

I used to laugh at that term Florida Man because it meant you were in for a story, but now when I hear it I know people mean DeSantis and it makes me smile that realistic people are seizing power again.

I've been a Comcast customer before... I will never be again. 10 years ago we had them. They are the definition of incompetent and unreliable... and those are the few offices that care. Most of them don't even care about their customers or the service they provide.

Who did you switch to? It's either Comcast or Att and I will never use Att again. Slow speed and always had billing problems as in every month I had to call. They charged a ridiculous amount of money for slow internet.

I switched from ATT to DirecTV to Comcast. Comcast has made me wait for an appointment, but its service and employees have been noticeably better than the others. And the prices competitive, meaning better service at equivalent cost. After a severe hurricane they must have a lot of work to do.

That's so wonderful to share the scientific devices with the schools and community. We don't need to get stuck with OLD, OBSOLETE technology. Just like we love wireless internet more than the old fashion "DIAL UP", remember?

I hope Florida shares him with the rest of us in 2024, I made a mistake voting blue with Biden. But this man is a competent leader that knows what’s going on in his community that he governs and I wish we had a competent leader like this in the Oval Office. I might vote RED in 2024.

With Desantes, it's what you see is what you get. He makes decisions he feels will be beneficial to the state and his constituents without waiving when criticized by the woke left. No hesitation and no waiting for polling data to see what he should do. This is so refreshing to see this in a politician.

Desoto County Florida. 140mph winds and 12 feet of flooding from the Peace River...using my Starlink and a generator all of my neighbors were able to come here to contact relatives. We weren't able to have internet in this rural area before Starlink. I love it. And Ron DeSantis is the best governor that we have ever had in Florida!

This guy is pretty amazing. Comcast is a private company and most politicians would just skip the question and say they'll contact Comcast's reps to see what they can do but he took it head on and tried to find a solution.
