The original Sir Mullich portrait is a picture of a real person, David Mullich. He was project manager of Heroes 3 and he dressed up to play an NPC for Might and Magic 6 so they just used a picture of him from M&M6 for Sir Mullich.

Thank you! I always had the impression that he was a real person, but never bothered to find out. The hat always looked weird to me (in a medieval Fantasy setting).

While I appreciate the artwork, many characters are drawn wrong. I mean both the emotions and facial features are completely off. For example, Catherine is a mature woman of power, not a young girl. Tamika is a merciless dread knight, not a "miss black beauty" contest winner. Luna is an experienced fire magician, not a cheerleader girl from local high school.

It's just AI art, not actual, fresh renditions of the characters. Only natural they're lacking any and all personality, intent or creative specificity

you are right and in general the characters most of them are too young and too beatiful, AI doesnt capture it

just now I realized those are Arlach''s nostrils and not his eyes, lmao. Incredible version of the best combat theme in the game.

So basically take portaits that show character and soul and turn them into some childish gag

Just download the HD mod. The original art style holds up very well on higher resolutions. I play HOMM3 at 4k on a 40inch TV. Looks amazing.

@@FilthEffect Jeah I like the HD Mod, it's just that this game deserves much more attention, and a version where also things like hero portraits are overhauled but kept in the spirit of the original intrigues me. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you that the graphics still hold up very well. Haha, the settings you describe are hard to comprehend.

These were merciless leaders who endured a life of hardship, but you made them into seductive teenage models. Anyone who uses social media or instagram 24/7 can make an unrealistically beautiful face: just enlarge the eyes, lessen the nose, smooth the skin, etc. But this removes reality, character. It makes them all the same: just unrealistically attractive Instagram models

Well, the artificial intelligence that he uses to upscale these portraits use pictures from the internet for reference. It's obvious that the internet is more likely to be filled with beauty princesses, so the ai has no choice (nor will) to reamain close to the originals.

I think the AI rendition for non humans were okay, but for most of the humans, there was something odd about them, people like Ufretin, Ayden and Serena were okay though!

Everything is just Made younger, more attractive and less harsh. Pretty goofy honestly. Besides its 2024 everyone would just be black and gay. Ask Google ai

most females look like teens, men look younger by 10 years but still adults (except Gelu, he is straight up a woman here), Tamika and the efreeti heroes lost their fangs, and then there is Mandor with wore teeths than before (i actually like this and Sandro).

​You're right, some of them were probably meant to be scary/creepy/intimidating looking. Still, for me these new portraits are way better. Modern, sleek, easy on the eyes. If the game was to be remade, the characters would probably look like this.

​@@warchiefzeke2035aesthetics apart, they don't have distinctive features anymore and therefore will be hard to distinguish between. Take a look at the WC3 Reforged - sleekness is unfunctional. And, honestly, I don't think it's aesthetical either.

Most lose the soul of the original. I don't like that at all. Couple of those are ok. The problem is that AI generates average generic facial features, not characteristic stuff like heroes of the game usually have.

This is so bad, it doesnt have the same vibe as the oryginal portraits.

So Gelu is gay now? At least Tamika is not fat anymore, good for her. Also they did mommy Shiva dirty, went from a strong barbarian woman to clumsy anime chick. Other women too, all of the seriousness taken from them. Meh.
