They could hear me scream for miles, the silence ringing for days
The wind that turns the trees, made me sway, made me sway, made me sway
Doberman they stood proud, the ferns loomed as I lay
The waves slapped like shin to wood
And I laid, I laid, I laid
Inch by inch, foot by foot, I was on my knees for days
And then I set on all fours and I made, I made, I made, I made
I’m not praying, baby
I’m not begging, darling
I’m not praying, baby
I’m not begging, darling
Soon as the rush went away, I need not look for a way
Damage, Damage, Damage,
If you see me down on my knees, please do not think that I pray
Damage, Damage, Damage
Soon as the rush went away, I need not look for a way
Damage, Damage, Damage
If you see me down on my knees, please do not think that I’m praying

no band captures the feeling of struggling with mental health better than IDLES. i cannot overstate how important this band has become to me. also, their show in nashville was the best fucking show i've EVER seen. bar none. not even close. much love.
The contrast between the 60's style ballad and Joe angry vocals is spectacular. I've listened it like 4 times in a row.

I can't help but think he was inspired by Motown and Cristiano Ronaldo's goal celebrations in equal measures when he sings "SI...nce the rush went away" and "if you SEE me down on my knees".
Joe’s usual kinda talk/howl thing is a huge part of what I love about IDLES…but then he sings like this and makes me question everything.

This song simultaneously makes me want to A) completely withdraw from everything, wrap myself in a warm blanket, and cry myself to sleep, and B) Scream the lyrics from the top of my lungs both as a means of alleviating this pain within and also to let those who have harmed me know so. Probably always gonna stick with option A, tho.

Esta es la canción que no sabía que necesitaba y menos esperaba que fuera Idles quien la sacara. Con la misma fuerza pero con otra intensidad. Grandes.
For those who don't know, the Beachland Ballroom is a music hall in Cleveland that Idles played two shows at. The first show was in the tavern where they played to a group of about 60 people. The second show was in the main ballroom, and was played to a sold out crowd. I was at both shows and they were two of the best concerts I've ever been to.
I saw the boys both times at the Beachland, first time in the Tavern with about 70 other people. Second time in a sold out ballroom. Can't wait for them to come back, but I'll see them in Columbus soon!

This is a song for the rest of my life. This year was the year of changes, I always was praying for some changes in my life or the people around, but I said to myself the things are what they are and I don't want to have the control of no one and nothing, the only thing what I pray for is to live the day and its there is something that I don't like I'm gonna let it go and If I'm on my knees is not because I'm praying

what a mesmerizing song and video! joe's face has an almost scluptural quality and this video demonstrates beautfully that you can visually accomplish a lot with very little. the song conveys the feeling of someone who is trying to piece themselves together after having fallen apart brutally. and it's very exciting to hear joe sing gentely and softly, even if only for a brief moment. what a great and mature new sound you guys have come up with!
