Third time I've seen Idina make that comment about Ariel and I just wanna lecture her on how Ariel was interested in humans in general, and wanted to explore and carve her own path and was willing to do anything to chase her dream. Yeah she fell in love with Eric (after observing him on his ship and seeing his personality, albeit not as much as she should've), but it wasn't just about Eric. She craved adventure and this whole other life, and she was basically an archaeologist. She collected human artifacts and tried to figure them out and make something of them, and wanted to dive into that other world. She never wanted to abandon her family or drop her life for a man, she had been dreaming about seeing the human world since she was little- she wanted to travel and explore and discover more about herself and the world

When Jonathan mentioned Lin and Chris I was like yess
