Ider River Canoe Trip, Mongolia

#paddling_mongolia #canoetrip #allycanoe
Three week / 270m km River Trip on the Ider (Идэрийн гол) in Northern Mongolia. From Tosontsengel in Zavkhan Aimag to Olon Golyn Belchir (Confluence of many rivers) in Khuvsgul, where the Ider & Delgermurun come together to form the Selenge (01.-21. July 2023).
In between we had some heavy rains which turned the river into a brown mess. After that drinking water became quite scarce as the water filter clogged up after a few pumps. After about three quarters of the way we had to drag the canoe and all equipment up and down a steep mountain pass to avoid a canyon with a string of crazy rapids. Some great camping on the way, although trees were rare on the first few days.
Unfortunately I forgot to bring the charging hub for the Gopro, so the footage only reflects few sections of the river...

Why do you have to carry over a hill?
