➡️I HAVE MADE SOME MISTAKE IN THIS VIDEO SORRY FOR THAT

THE 5V REGULATOR I USE IN THIS VIDEO DOESN'T EMIT ENOUGH CURRENT.

In this video I show you how with the PS2 Flex IDE Resurrector you can install an IDE to SATA adapter.
Sorry for the brightness on the video, I'm using a new phone, and I haven't found the right settings yet

Wonderful! by the way What is the reason for supplying 5V power from the top of the motherboard?

I use the 5v on the top of the motherboard, because the one on the bottom has a protection circuit that blows a fuse if you ask too much current to the regulator using a hard drive 😉

Amazing looking product! Perfect for my purposes. But what is the reason for the CAPs between RESET, READ, WRITE, ACK, and their adjacent ground pins? I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that before.

@@Gusse Yes I figured as much lol, I was just wondering if you knew why. Full disclosure I'm making a portable using this kind of HDD loading, and I'm trying to gather as much knowledge as I can. I actually tried this mod a several years ago, using the exact same SATA bridge device as well, just without the benefit of your flex cable. The system interfaced with the device, and I was able to load and play KH2 precisely once... And then it just stopped working. Mayhaps this was the reason? And had I known to put those CAPs in place, it might have worked more that just the once? I don't suppose that was what happened before you figured out to add the CAPs?
@Gusse

@@AngelArm1110 I'm not the person who discovered that capacitors were needed in these places. I just know that it's the fruit of empirical testing for no apparent reason. Capacitors help stabilize signals for chips, which are of very average quality but readily available and very inexpensive. Other boards apart from Maxwell chips don't need these capacitors. Also looking at ide to SD boards, capacitors are present and this is potentially only a prerequisite of control chips, and for certain reasons. Also the original mod released a few years ago and which has become hard to find uses more capacitors on its circuit to certainly stabilize electronic fluctuations.
I wanted to buy one but unfortunately for me it's not good as I put the hard drive in place of the optical drive with the wired installation... Unless you bend it in extreme ways. But it's still a great flex cable nice job!

@@trueactionchannel I can see if it came with the converter adapter and resistors, stripped down and soldered up, maybe $25. Printed models on top of that, maybe $40. But the ribbon itself at that price, no way. I wouldn't even consider it. $10 would be a stretch at reasonable for something such as that. An accomplishment, sure. Congratulations on that. But not a logical price for what essentially is an extension cord, in my opinion.

I totally understand, and I'm not going to justify myself here because I'm not forcing anyone to buy my flex. Wait for the clones, as I'm waiting for them... a cool German guy published his sources to make an installation like mine and I still don't see any clone... if you want to make your own you can use his models it's free: circuit-board.de/forum/index.php/Thread/33386-M2PS2-PCB-f%C3%BCr-PS2-Slim-SCPH-700XX-zum-Betrieb-einer-M-2-SATA-SSD/ If you watch the second screen of my video, I indicate that you can do it with wires, and it will cost you $0.5 or less 😉

@@Gusse I've seen the wires install on your channel as well. Pretty intricate! Your wire management is unbeatable. I'm glad you took my criticism the right way. I'm sure you'll get (and have gotten) some sales at the price you're going for. I may still do a wires install just to say I did.
@satibel

@@androxilogin given that the guy sells only a few I think it's a fair price for the time spent making it. (But yes it's hard to justify when you can get a fat with a network adapter for 10 bucks more) Though for now I'll just keep using the network, it's fast enough for most cases. If I get the motivation to install an hdd I'll probably make a knock off using 3d printing and wires.
Why not design your own pcb instead of doing all that work on Chinese junk adapters?
@Gusse
Жыл бұрын
very good question, I thought about that, but designing and producing that, will be much more expensive than using components already present on the market, already the price of the flex I made is already relatively high, I doubt that many people buy an adapter equivalent to that one 😉

@Gusse

@Stabz47 I always recommend the SATA mod to go beyond 128Gb at a reasonable cost. But you can make the mod with iFlash SATA to get around the 128Gb limit. You need to make a wire bridge to connect the iFlash with ide resurrector or make the mod directly without ide resurrector using the mapping diagrams on the net for wiring.
