He was a leading hitter for 7 years straight in Japan...(1994-2000) Batting Average is more than .355 (Highest is .387) He had accumulated more than 1200 hits before he played in MLB !!! He achieved 210 hits in a single season(130 games ), which is equivalent to 262 hits in MLB(160 games) .....

for real tho. this man played in the mlb at 27 I believe. crazy to think he was playing in his forties too. Even when he retired you thought he still had a couple more years in him.

FIRST TIME I REALISED THAT ICHIRO BATS LEFT HANDED.
He was a great all around player. Yankees could use more hitters like him. I think homeruns are over rated. Getting a hit with the bases loaded is more important than the usual strikeout because someone is trying to get a grand-slam.

To make matters worse, Koreans have a history of hating the Japanese due to the WW2 and the abduction of Korean women for use as "comfort women" for the Japanese soldiers. (internet search it) The Japanese tend to not talk about that old, sensitive topic..

Huge respect to both Ryu and Ichiro.
ICHIRO AND RYU BOTH HAVE THE SAME EYE DEFORMITY PROBLEM THAT MAKES THEIR EYES REALLY SKINNY AND HARD TO SEE THROUGH. It's great that they play so well even though they have that handicap!
