Hi Jan, thanks for this video of the reopening of the famous Blue Lagoon. Glad that you included the call to get extra information. It sounds like they are doing their best to protect visitors from the potential Gas Pollution with the installation of the 40 detectors.

I think it's absolutely insane! Wasn't there two separate incidences of Blue Lagoon employees being hospitalized a few weeks ago? Every time they have evacuated, it has taken 45 minutes to get everyone out. That's fine if it's just lava erupting and you very likely have several hours before it gets close. If the wind shifts, the pollution detectors go off, and the resort is being flooded with CO2 and sulfur gas, you have minutes to get out before you are injured, or dead. Obviously, there are some days when the risk is lower than others but, as long as the vents are smoking, there are never days when it is zero.

There are many natural hot pools in Iceland that are well away from eruptions and gas. And they're nicer!

It is actually chemical waste water you're bathing in! There's a video on youtube explaining what the blue water actually is. There is a plant very nearby and it's waste water is "cleaned" and dumped into the man-made lagoon. The "healing silica" are actually chemical plastic particles. 80 dollars entrance for that?? You'd better spend that money on yourself and choose other and way better thermal baths (Myvatn, Geosea) or take a dip in the many free geothermal pools or community pools which often include saunas.

Thank you for the video, very interesting and making a phone call that was also interesting to hear what they said. I would like to go to the Blue lagoon but I don't want to go all the way from the U.K. and find it has closed again , it's opening and closing like a pair of curtains, it has just closed again, I'm sure they are doing their best to keep people safe , but I would like to enjoy relaxing & not thinking about if there is going to be an evacuation.

This is all bad press for the Blue Lagoon!! THey clearly don't care about theur staff or their guests!!

Words fail me about BL opening, actually it’s all swear words 😡 I guess we will see what happens. Let’s hope the morons that go have decent insurance 😚
