In this video I review the ICECO GO20 portable 12 volt fridge. This fridge offers many tech features, a reliable design, and super efficient operation. I have been very happy with it's performance. I have two ICECO fridges, the VL45 and the GO20 and both have been very reliable. You can get the same performance as Dometic at near half the cost!

    I wish you had talked about getting it into "Advanced Mode" to change Celsius to Fahrenheit, or to set the power turn off feature for battery security. I have followed the instructions to the letter and it just does not work on this ICECO GO20 model. Mine even came with it in Fahrenheit mode, it was supposed to default to Celsius. I did not try the app, I wanted to know how to do this from the machine itself. But the cooler does work fine otherwise, and it is very quiet and does seem well built. I just wonder if I received a used one.

    @@Jasonoid Hi Jason - Thanks for the fast response!! During our covid era, I took advantage of time during the shutdown by making homemade ice cream and sorbet. When we do these types of things at home, quality of the material makes as a general rule something better than you can buy at the market. My friends as I have shared my creations have been losing their minds in envy. I have a Tesla model 3. There is a storage compartment located in the truck. Given the Go20 dimensions, the trunk compartment space should allow a perfect fit with adequate airflow. With the 12 volt connection this works to be a good thing.. Now during the holiday with the small freezer, I can visit socially distanced and dropping off ice cream/sorbet to my clients and friends. It is my great experiment. Thanks again.. Very helpful review - much appreciated.

    Thinking of getting a battery bank to power some of these electric fridges because when my car is off, there is no power to keep them cold. I run my Iceco off of a Ecoflow river pro 720 KW solar "generator". so on my first extended trip - I put in the 20 Q ICECO fridge freezer ran it at 35 degrees temp, , My Ecoflow will power it for 10 hours at night, with only losing about 12% charge in the box. I do have one big complaint - and that's with the Iceco refrigerator. even though the temp was set at 35 degrees, the readout showed the temp varying between 29 degrees and 39 degrees - that kind of temp swing (if it was really happening) is not the best scenario for keeping food cold and fresh. I tried looking at the settings - looking for some sort of tolerance range setting, but could not find any - either on the control panel on the fridge, or in the app .

  • @Jasonoid

    @Jasonoid

    2 жыл бұрын

    I think the temps inside swing the most depending on how full the fridge is. Do you have a fridge thermometer inside showing the actual temp? The actual temp inside shouldn't vary that much VS what the display is showing.

    I would suggest you have a large battery in your car just to make sure it can handle the extra load. Some cars come with TINY batteries these days. I upgraded my Honda Accord battery just for that reason, I have a video on it. I went on a road trip with my Accord and the fridge worked awesome. Just make sure you have a plug that is still powered on when the keys are turned off. Modern cars disable the 12 volt sockets to save power these days.

    Hello Jason, The first video u did with ur father in law about all the fridg/freezer he had got me interested in the Iceco go20. I did just bought one in white. I was wondering about the temperature sensor on urs, does your temp gauge flexuate from the set setting? I'm testing mine inside on my Jackery 1000. Not on the road yet. I mainly plan on using the iceco go20 as a freezer. After letting the unit run for a while & setting at zero, I then fill the freezer 3/4 full with already frozen meat. The temperature seems to go from zero a few minutes then goes to 2 or up to 11F. Is that normal operation, do u know? I thought the temp would stay zero until I open the freezer to take something out. I hv a temperature gauge inside the iceco go20 and both reading matches. My meat stays frozen however. So it appears to be working. I also hv insulated cover on the iceco but left the vets open for airflow. Maybe the unit is not great for freezer use only and or that's the nature of the sensor letting me know its sence the temp has risen, but why? Thanks u for ur help, Lee

  • @Jasonoid

    @Jasonoid

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hey Li, the fridge temperature swing is normal, my GO20 also swings a bit. As long as it stays within the "freezer range" your food will be safe. It's a matter of efficiency so that the compressor doesn't run quite as often. I haven't noticed any issues with my food during trips with that fridge. I love mine!

    @@GHE2005 yeah, I love it too! As for the battery capacity on the app. You'll just have to use the meter on the Jackery. I'm guessing the output of your Jackery is regulated to always be the same voltage so you can't tell the capacity from the voltage.

    @@Jasonoid The Jackey has a pure sign wave so I think it mean its regulated? lol I see how many watts its using on the Jackery. Sorry last question, hehe. I saw ur reply about the socket does not fit tightly, mine is the same. I can unscrew the socket like u are saying to do to fix the spring. I hv a red tip that I can undo but that does not get to the spring. I see a small screw that I can unscrew, is that where the spring is located? I can take a picture of my 12 socket on the iceco to send u if u can provide me an email? I don't want to undo the screw and screw up something. Mechanical electrical stuff on 12v I'm not all that clear about yet. One of theses days, I'm going to make that power box u made on ur video. That looks really awesome and functional. I like to hv that as a back up for my Igo20. 😊

    @@GHE2005 I'm thinking you got a 12v socket that's not adjustable. Some are and some aren't, I may be wrong in the video but I have 1 type that you can adjust the spring. If you aren't having issues with it popping out just leave it as it is. If it keeps popping out and you plan to build a battery box, just cut off the cigarette plug and solder in Anderson power pole or a SAE connector, they are much better!

    Some times batteries have less power than they advertise. Freezer mode will use much more power than fridge mode. Plan on about 24wh per hour if the temps aren't too high and it's in fridge mode. Freezer mode it's probably near 45 wh. Hope that info helps.

    @@Jasonoid Thank you so much for your reply! I put just 1/3 of food in dual room to try. I used dual room. I put it in a room which room temperature is under 68. I set up -18 and 5 C. I guess it is normal for 50 watt/ hour.

    @@tomatoada why do you have it set so low? -18? Why not like -5 and 5?

    @@Jasonoid It says for meat is -18 Celsius. And also I think the system preset up left room freezer is also -18 Celsius based on user guide. I should try to set up -5 Celsius and see how many watt hours will it consume.

    @@tomatoada It will use much less power as it doesnt have to be so cold. I'd recommend 36F for the fridge side, and 22F for the freezer side. You will have to convert that over to Celsius, I hope that helps!

    You left out one important fact can you run it off your 12 volt car battery over night and for how long before it kills your battery. 30 year refrigerator technician

    Running it overnight wont run your battery down. It pulls 3amps at 12 volts at a 25% duty cycle. Only would use about 10-12AH of your battery. I had my larger fridge, my VL45, running off my battery for 4 days just fine. I started the engine to charge the battery once in the morning and once right before bed. Worked like a charm and that one uses slightly more power. I would recommend ICECO fridges because they are built super well. Thanks for watching, happy to answer any questions! New video coming soon comparing 11 fridges!

    I'm not sure how people that overland would tie this unit down. It doesn't have the typical handles campers use to secure a frig.

    Check out the ICECO VL45, much more suited for that. I have the review out on my channel currently.

    Does the fridge even power on? Does it turn on but give an error code? Are you running it off your car 12v outlet or off 120vac?

    I wasn't paid money, they just provided the fridge. My video provides much more information about the GO20 then most the others out there. If the fridge doesn't pass my testing the video doesn't get published and it gets sent back.
