Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando Review - Coaster Quickie

Don't click here: kzread.info?sub...
The main narrative around Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando following its media day and first riders was that this coaster was "exactly what the park needed." In the first edition of Coaster Quickie, I tell you why I personally think that might not be the case.

Just to clarify, the reason the height restriction was changed was because smaller riders hit the belt buckles during sudden/emergency stops (ouch). The temporary height restriction is the same as the other Premier coasters with comfort collars. They are hoping to revert to the originally intended height restriction once they find a solution :).

They just need to get rid of the comfort collars and install seatbelts

I'm in Florida now & will be riding Ice Breaker for the first time on Thursday. It looks really good but I absolutely despise the Premier Rides trains and restraints.

I think this coaster is a perfect fit. It brings ejector, launches, and fast pacing to the park, and is deceptively forceful

Also apparently there was an issue with the restraints making it have to be 54”. they apparently plan on changing it to 48” again.

Being in Orlando they might just be accepting that Big D has the "kids under 10" demographic pretty sewn up. So Seaworld Orlando might be trying to move into an "older kids/ young teenagers" friendly park on purpose, not quite as thrill heavy or IP based as Universal. The Animal exhibits fit pretty well then. "Mom and Dad go watch animals while the kids hit the coasters."

Universal literally has 2 legitimate thrill coasters, three if you count the garbage Rip Ride Rockit & the Hulk is nowhere near as good as Mako or Manta. Until Velocicoaster, Universal was no more about thrill coasters than Disney.

There are some 8 year olds that meet the 54 inch height requirement though.

I love this thing, crazy ejector and some silly positives!

Yeah the 54” height requirement really doesn’t make any sense, ESPECIALLY when you factor in Iron Gwazi’s 48” 😂😂😂

I think it’s disappointing for a roller coaster

I think its a major fail. The slide track and launches feel gimicky and unnecessary. The humps on the first straight are like speed bumps on a freeway and the terrible restrains make it worse. My kids loves all coasters and we did Icebreaker front row and backrow and all agreed its a 1 and done coaster. If you launched foward from the load section and up a spike, came backward thru a switch track and up the 2nd spike, then foward thru the course you would have something pretty original.
