I'm looking forward to getting my ICE HD 26 with the new Enviolo internal hub and Shimano E8 mid range electrical setup. I'm 85 and love to ride and it's time for me to get a comfortable recumbent bike that I could enjoy riding well into my 90s. I'm in Sarasota, FL and looking forward to taking this on our 20 mile legacy Bike trail to Venice. Hopefully, I'll have sufficient range to do the 40 miles total trip. (fingers crossed)

I have ridden that very trike after building it for my local dealer. Believe you will enjoy it quite a bit. On a flat trail like the Legacy, you should easily do that ride.

Yes, we’ll done review. I had to choose between at an ICE and HP and one of the reasons i chose the HP because it had a a greater seat recline range, I needed something more upright. While my customer service dealings have been fine, I liked hearing about your episode with ICE, awesome. I believe the HP and ICE both have exceptional structure and design. 70 something miles on a battery. Wow, I’m impressed. I have an E8000 with a 504 battery and I’m getting around 45 - 50 miles per charge. Fairly quiet. I think you’d like the Rholof with its 14 gears. Decided not to go with electric shifter for fear of what happens during a power failure. Didn’t realize there were hub brakes. I like the idea. With all the salt we have, hub components are great. Btw, rholof, annual maintenance is duck soup. Anyway looks like you have a great ride and if the teaser means another trike on the Alaskan horizon, hope you get all your wishes. Aloha..

Great thoughts. I have the 14 speed Rohloff on my Full Fat so know that experience as well. My range is down in the 35 mile zone probably due to the fat tires.

Good review thanks! I have the Ice Adventure FS HD 26 with a Falco hub motor. I like the bigger seat and cockpit size. I like the hub motor better than the mid drive. I like the drum brakes also. The throttle comes in handy at stops in traffic to get moving faster.

Thanks for your thoughts. I love FS HD Adventure with a 750 Bafang motor. I bought my Trike in 2016. The assist at the time was the Bionix. When I first got my Trike I was sticker shocked at the motor. That was 2018 . I was thinking of selling my trike for an E assist HP or ICE. I paid to visit to a shop in Phoenix and pulled the trigger and I hope I would like it . That was over 6,000 miles ago I looked into a Rolff but went for a 3 speed Sturmey Archery hub and a 9 speed cassette. I want to say that ICE has excellent customer service when I broke my frame from the rough Arizona roads.

Excellent experiences … there definitely is a sticker shock but given the trikes performance so far I’m thinking there are lots of miles yet to come.

Great review! I have a NUVINCI drive on my Trident Stowaway. Very quiet and it is infinitely variable. I too sometimes wish it had a broader gear range, but there’s no hills that I can’t climb. The limit is probably on the top end. But what the heck…..who wants to go fast all the time anyway?👍😜

I now have 2 Ice Adventure 26RS trikes. The first, currently 5200 miles, came with the Shimano Steps 6100 system. Trike continues to perform nicely. The second, currently 8500 miles, I added a rear hub motor system, and I am quite pleased as it has become my primary trike. Both trikes are their 2nd sets of chains, cassettes or cogs, as the originals were both worn out.

I've just come across your video. I have the Adventure HD with the drum brakes. Brilliant bit of kit.

My wife and I both have Ice Adventure trikes equipped with Shimano E8000 systems. My Adventure is the HD version which is wider and like yours has the Ergo Luxe seat. What is different is that these trikes don’t have the automatic shifting ability of the E6100 systems. They are instead equipped with 8-speed Rohloff rear hubs which while not automatic are also shiftable while both moving and standing still. I love every aspect of these trikes. I could have gone for a front suspension on mine but the seat is so cushy that it seems that front suspension would have been overkill. I love the upright position afforded me because it allows me to breath normally and still have visual access to the road ahead.m Any further recline would cause me to crane my neck and thus restrict my breathing. These are wonderful products made with the kinds of brakes than can stop you “on a dime”.

Excellent thoughts and comments … in hindsight I wish I could have ridden all configurations of the Adventure but that might have entailed a trip to the UK to accomplish. Still very satisfied with my experience.

I only have about 2k miles on my Ice Trike Adventure and have had to buy another battery. The problem is you can not find them. I had to order my battery on Ebay and it was over 600 dollars. Even a fresh battery is only giving me 50 miles from the start. I ride fast between 16 and 19 MPH that could be why my battery only last about 35 miles total.

There are a lot of factors in the battery game. Assist levels, elevation, and temperature all have their own input it seems.

Where exactly did your seat pad fail? Mine was on the two front top corners. My response from ICE was very similar to yours, no questions and a new cover in only a few days. I have an Adventure HD 20" Full Suspension and got it in November 2019. I already had a TSDZ2 on my old trike so I switched it over rather than spend the extra on the factory E-assist. I have over 9k miles on mine and am very pleased with the trike. When I originally bought it the rear hub/derailleur was the 9-speed Shimano Capreo system which had a small cog of 9T which allowed for good operation with the 20" wheel comparable to the 26" wheel for top end. About six months ago I found that Shimano no longer made this hub and I would have to change to a different hub/cassette to continue operation. I looked at the Alfine but decided to go with a Rohloff and I love it over the standard external derailleur. I sometimes wonder about my decision to go with the disk brakes as I do have to replace pads every so often and adjust the cable adjuster after a few months of use. I would like them to be like the brakes I put on my other trike (won't fit on the ICE due to the requirement to be mirrored) which were four piston cable operated units which had the advantages of cable operated brakes but all of the hydraulics were in the caliper unit so no cables or connectors to leak.

Same with mine ... front two top corners ... keeping an eye on the new seat to see if there will be continued issues or perhaps it was a bad production run. Either way ... still a great trike. Got another video coming sometime that will hopefully address the strengths and limited weaknesses of my current setup. Thanks for watching.

I agree with all your positive comments on the Ice Adventure HD. The seat is so comfortable and I rarely feel the need to stop and stretch as I would on a Diamond frame bike. I do have some minuses that would have made me reconsider my purchase. I dislike transporting it. I took off the rear rack so it would fold more compactly. I probably should have purchased the 20” rear wheel to make easier to fold. I don’t live near any bike paths, so folding it, taking the seat on and off, sometimes shortening and lengthening the boom, is a pain. I’ve done more to ding up my fenders, spokes, and chain, folding and unfolding the trike, than actually riding it. When on a road trip earlier this year, I used a Hollywood Rack trike rack to carry it, because my SUV was full of other stuff. I would have preferred to roll the trike it into my hotel room, but I ended up securing the best I could overnight and hoped nobody messed with it. I agree with you on the Nexus hub gearing. I rode up some big hills in Colorado, and even with maximum assist, there was one spot that I had to get off and push. I didn’t originally want a throttle, but there are times a throttle would have made riding more enjoyable.

Definitely agree with the transport part. Fortunately I have a mid size truck which alleviates the seat removal and folding part. Not sure I could leave my trike outside a hotel room. In all my travels and trips, I was asked once not to bring my bike, recumbent it recumbent trike … I smiled and left. Another hotel was glad for my business.

With regard to ebike range, had a RIbble Endurance Ale weighing 30lbs with a Mahle x35 rear hub motor. The motor assisted upto 15mph, the changeover unnoticable, no drag I am aware off. At 40% assist would get 60 miles with a 250w battery. The motor assist could be reduced as far as you want increasing range. With the motor off, I found it no harder to ride or slower than my non electric Endurance bike weighing 20lbs.

Range truly is a product of level and terrain. My current Adventure has a small 250w rear hub motor and I’m seeing average burns on rides as low as 5 watts/mile, 11.1 on a recent gravel ride with 2600 ft of elevation change over 26 miles.

@@PedalPushinAK Will be getting an ICE trike soon Got rid off the ebike though for 2 reasons 1) Due to range anxiety, ended up only switiching the motor on for steep hills, which would give an estimated range of over 200 miles, decided to replace it with a touring bike with shimano deore 3x10 gears to make hills easier. 2) The battery lasts 500 full charges, costing about £650 a battery , that is over £1 a charge to replace the battery. If I rode with max assist constantly, the battery would only last 30 miles (roughly 3 pence a mile) compared to 12 pence a mile for the car.

What tires do you run on your Adventure?
