At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

IN MY VIEW I loved how Suleiman respected and trusted Ibrahim at the beginning. Ibrahim was like a brother to Suleiman. He use to be so humble.

Because women don't know od politics and work of emperors that's why. And because of they are always jealous of everything, especially of a friendship. They destroyed all the good things.

Yes, Ibrahim was absolutely the best & most powerful pasha. Only wish he sided with Hurrem so he would live long enough to enthrone one of her kids..

Yep unlike the Pig Farmer Rustem who couldn't lift a sword, please a woman or fight a battle and win it. Hiding behind Hurrem was his only Job.

I quite agree. At least I think that said appointment should be more graduate. So that Ibrahim could maintain his balance. Because, let's be honest, Suleiman showered Ibrahim with promotions and praise that he eventually lost himself

I agree. I guess He was after overthrowing the Sultan and settle down to the throne. Probably he would change the regime of the empire. From Islam to Orthodox Christianity. And again Byzantien empire. Right? and Hagasophia from mosque back to church again.

@@DimSK. It has examples in Byzantion Era. One Macedonian overthrew the Emperor and climbs to the throne in 10. century. I guess Basil. Not sure. Ibrahim would carry 6 flags indication of the responsibilities and the power. 1.Jannisaries. 2.Sipahis, 3.Anatolian troops 4.Rumelian troops. 5.Akinjis 6.Levents (Sailor troops) You see , All powers of the empire. There was 7 ultimate flags to carry. And Ibrahim earned 6 out of 7. The 7. flag was Khalifate. Suleaiman noticed it earlier. χάρη στον θεό . 😃
