@@gamer966 No ppmd mentioned that as a joke, and then all the gods (except hbox, he wasn't there, scheduling conflict) said that pp's punish game is great, which is true back in the golden age. Now a days his punish game isn't as good as other top players.

Modern meta vs current meta is in most cases largely an illusion. Almost everything that was peak in 2013 is still super effective now.

@darksyde3000 we were not shielddropping or asdi'ng down (especially out of walk) in 2013. just those two things are massive defensive changes in the past few years shielddropping literally changed how we viewed melee. being stuck on a platform used to be bad, now sheik lives on platforms and marth/fox get such good openings descending from or attacking into plats buffering inputs was rare ccing was much rarer and not nearly as utilized

Wins 2 games. one with 2 stocks and another at last hit last stock. "I mean there are some games where I absolutely run him over but like he's still smart" ...

I mean, why is he wrong?, all the people getting mad at this clearly don't watch Cody at all, why would you stay against some scrubby player in netplay when you can fight an actual good player, top players don't get good players to practice against, and when you finally get someone good you didn't get to actually practice bc you where reading chat and they left after they won Also not bc you want to play someone you just lost to means that your ego got hurt, that happens all the time in fighting games, you want to play someone you just lost to to practice and get better, this comment tells me 1 of 2 things (or maybe both) You don't play melee or fighting games at all (so you clearly don't understand this stuff) Or you are just stupid

@@vyor8837 The problem with PPMD was that they felt incapable of playing at top level for years. They suffer from low testosterone for some reason. Not sure if that was something they had when they were a "god" too, but that seemed to be the reason they quit and did not feel like they had endurance to compete.

But when he plays PP and realizes that this guy is insane, he was late adjusting. I think Cody was trying to discredit PP a bit here, but since it's online and only 1 game (melee is really fast paced) then IDK. PP did get lucky, he gimped cody last stock

However, you can see signs of cody trying before actually bringing up that fact that he's "actually playing the game", as for the slippi marth thing, sure that makes sense but its clear from the way cody was focusing while playing a lot that he was indeed trying and just trying to make up an excuse as to why he lost. But still I digress.

Armada went his secondary (fox) and took 5 games off this marth in 2 sets in his prime. The Era of the 5 gods was insane.

Everyone is laughing, having a good time, and joking around with eachother all the time! All while not losing the ability to flip a switch and play to win for tournament. Honestly such an amazing example for newer or lower level players. Couldn't be happier with the melee scene right now

@@eepyslvt The fear that you get memed on just for losing a game to one of the best players of all time or the disrespect or thinking everyone should be perfect and never drop anything/have to try hard try hard all the time even online is pretty bad. It just adds unnecessary stress. Take a sport like football, who even cares about pre-season records. Take a sport like beach volleyball (since I know it) and no one keeps track of who wins and loses outside of tournament.

PPMD who hasn't played competitively for 6 years at this point more or less even with flavour of the month IBDW and yet I get ridiculed when I say Armada would stroll back in to the top level of the competitive scene. Nobody wants to admit it but the reason your axes and your amsas are winning tournaments is that the top level has dropped off since the great filter retired. Even Mango is winning majors again.

You can see why "Marthritis" was a common term back then. Punish game was not optimized and so many dropped edge guards. Still more fun to watch then Kodorin's Marth though. I don't know what it is but it just looks weird watching him play Marth.
