Ibanez RGD2127FX Seymour Duncan Distortion Vs. Original V87 pickups

In this video I compare the original V87 custom bridge pickup with the Seymour Duncan Distortion 7-string bridge pickup.
In my opinion the Duncan Distortion has more bite and clarity but the original pickups is really good. What do you think? Comment below please!

    it's really hard to hear the difference... all in all both sound really nice. Thank you for the video, i'm going to buy a used ibanez 1527Z and it has V87 V77 combo. I'm really glad to hear V87 can output some nice metal chug sounds

    I think you'd sound great with SH14. But, with these two PUs, i'd choose Distortion. It was like slightly compressing the distortion and makes solo more distinguished. I use one in my Ibanez as well. I used Sh5 previously, and a VR3 (Tesla Pickups) then, for distortion, nothing more 'round' and 'full' than SH6 IMHO. But, i'm getting into SH14 since it has more mids to my ear, different magnet as well.

    @@NiclasKarlssonguitarswe Good choice, it's better with this pick up, isn'it?each taste in micro but it's a shame that jackson did this weird handle and this messy low-end paint. Otherwise the same model, also light with an ibanez wizard 3 style handle and a mat paint better made and less messy, I buy right away!

    Very nice comparison :) I was wondering whether you'd recommend this guitar over a premium ibanez that is roughly 200 bucks cheaper

    Horst Odensack Thank you! If you got the money, Yes! The feel of a Prestige is something special. The premiums are very good though. This guitar has a 26,5" scale so it's a little bit longer than normal.

    Hey man, I'm selling my km7 due to the constant need to fix electronics on it and I'm seriously looking at buying one of these. I play lead guitar for tech death and prog (Necrophagist, Allegaeon, periphery, beyond creation etc) and found one that has Pegasus/Sentient pups in it on eBay, would you recommended it?

    matt wyman Hello Matt! This guitar has a very comfortable neck and in my opinion it looks killer and sounds great. I would recommend you to try one if you can before buying but it's a great guitar and if the condition is good, you won't probably be disappointed!

    I've seen a ton of people put the pad on the tuner side of the nut yet never quite understood what purpose it serves. Anyone?

    +Niclas Karlsson hey man, do you remember how much the action measured on this specific guitar ? I have it 1.4 mm treble 2 mm Low B, but first 3 frets are having buzzing issues, specifically the first fret of the Low B is almost a dead note.

  • @NiclasKarlssonguitarswe

    @NiclasKarlssonguitarswe

    On a 7-string it's recommended to have minumum 2,5mm on the low B and 1,5mm on high E. Neck relief is also very important. If you put a capo over the firts fret and hold down the string where the body ends you should have aprox, a 0,3mm gap between the string and the 7th fret. Check your nut as well. The string could be to low in its gap.

    I think as far as the truss rod goes, I have around .3 or .4 mm relief, however in the manual of Ibanez they state that the low B should have 2.2 mm. I think its the nut though, because all the strings buzz on the first fret, but its the low b that has a horrible buzz. Thanks for the answer man :)
