I always found it weird that Tony Adams said that Arsenal couldn't win the league with Wright because everything had to go through the striker. I thought that that was wholly unfair as he scored so many goals. He was injured most of his final season at the club and that allowed Anelka to come in as the main striker but it wasn't Wright's fault that Arsenal were not good enough to win the title until that season.

I remember in the 90s during a semi final Coca Cola cup game with Villa at villa park Ian Wright got assaulted during a pitch invasion by villa fans at the end of the game, after the game Wright was asked during an interview in a way that the interviewer was hoping Wright would slag the fans involved off, all he said was “one idiot doesn’t represent all the great fans on the night, it was a nothing thing” from that point I realised Wrighty is a mans man, and just a proper person. He’s a legend and for me one of the all time greats in the game.
