Well said true!! Hey, snow flakes generation X demanding stuff for free I hope you watch this clip and learn. Life ain't easy and yeas hard work and dedication always pays off. Hats off 🙏🙏
I'm 57 and out of all the Arsenal players I seen come and go, his always been my absolute Arsenal Legend, I don't think even he truly knows how much he is loved by the Arsenal Fans. He was never this pompous up himself look at me. He was an absolute character. I remember being at Islington Townhall it was the FA Cup Parade, I was by the barriers where quite a few disabled kids were, I remember being really disappointed as we tried to get handshakes and autographs and the players just waved and hurried into the Townhall. Not Mr Arsenal oh! no. He leaps the Barrier and makes the point of hugging the disabled kids in their wheelchairs, I remember grabbing my chance grapping Ian's hand and saying we love you Wrighty and he shouts back love you too lol grinning from ear to ear. Not sure if thats the same year he hung the FA Cup off the Bus with scarves lol. Can also remember another time, he'd had a bad run of games, and the fans gave Ian a hard time, he went absolute bonkers and started screaming out of the changing room window at the fans, he flashed his arse at them Pmsl! Ian Wright Wright Wright Mr Arsenal Forever.

I wasnt at the Town Hall but i do remember him flashing the fans. If im not wrong, it was from the East Stand windows?
It's crazy this doesn't have more views. What a legend! And a great personality. To go through we he had to and to be as successful as he has been shows a huge amount of character.

people don't value gems.. This is One
I was a young Man Utd fan at the 1990 cup final and didn’t really know who was who in football. When Ian Wright was warming up my dad told me we were in trouble if he comes on. I’ve been a fan ever since and enjoyed his career and all the goals. It’s criminal we didn’t see more of him for England.
I've always been a diehard Liverpool fan, and growing up as a kid, my bedroom walls were covered from top to bottom with posters of LFC players out of Shoot and Match. All except one space, which was dedicated to Ian Wright. Loved him then and love him now. Infectious personality and someone you're always rooting for.

True! Maybe my favourite two personalities in football
I’m a rugby man, and this floored me. Hard work, luck, dedication
You’ve got me in tears listening to Ian talk about his early life, Mr Pidgen and David Rocastle. David was My hero as an arsenal fan but I followed Ian playing alongside Mark Bright for Crystal Palace and was so excited when Ian signed for Arsenal and he didn’t disappoint and soon became my next hero. Thank you Ian for sharing this amazing life story with us. You deserve everything good that came your way ❤❤
I really don’t think Wrighty knows how loved he is. Absolute icon.
I AM COLOMBIAN, AND I ARRIVED TO LONDON IN 1993 AND IAN WAS ONE OF THE BEST FOOTBALL PLAYERS I HAVE EVER SEEN.
Childhood trauma never leaves you but making a difference to your adult world helps put the wrongs that were done to you right for a time. Ian Wright is universally loved and by opening up in this way he is helping others to grieve for their injustices too. God bless this giant of a man ❤
Top man Ian wright .. I am a scouser liverpool fan and he was a top player …I remember him well but my fav Arsenal player Ray Kennedy … a master
A true genuine role model with brutal honesty about his inner brokenness. Incredible. Love you Ian Wright. Jabbar in Manchester. Man City Supporter.
It’s not that often you watch films, interviews and documentaries and you get very emotional inside that it brings you to tears. This got me to the core I’m not gonna lie. I kind of understood what ian went through as a kid from south London myself being of mixed race and having a passion for the game, didn’t work for me , got close but hey hoe ! Saw it so many times with lads not making it and going down a risky path. But Ian’s journey is just fairy tale, man you deserve everything you’ve fought for. Topman, always believe in yourself ………
This man is a fucking national treasure. I can't ever watch this without crying. From hearing about his childhood to Mr Pigeon, I really hope he knows just how loved he truly is in England.
I am an Indian based in India, watching this Ian Wright presentation in his own words made me cry, He is a Football legend of his own making. Honesty, Respect and Hard work that gave Ian Wright his place in English football cannot be challenged. Now as a football pundit whenever and wherever he speaks , i watch it very closely to understand whats he says and expresses about each game. Though he is totally biased and forthright about Arsenal, but the general demeanour is one of honest reaction. Well done Ian Wright- Keep the flag of honesty flying for a long time
I just love him , what a man
He is the reason I started supporting arsenal in 1991 thanks Ian you legend COYG Arsenal till I die and beyond ❤
As a Tottenham fan you were a pain in our side. 😂. But you are an amazIng man and a role model for younger people how to dig in and keep going.
REALLY impossible to dislike you Wrighty. You were silently one of my heroes like forever mate...And I'm a Manchester united fan buddy. Just wished we could sign you always but only later on discovered your immaculate personality. Just straight love and respect for you mate. Not much else to say. May God bless you and may we have you as a pundit for 50 more years to come. Love from South Africa. 🇿🇦❤️💯😎
This was “WOW” I had no idea of the emotions this segment would bring out ! Ian Wright you have a new fan ……the raw emotions had me crying. We all start somewhere good or bad and we all need that one person or group that will believe in us and give another person a life line .I didn’t grow up watching Football, but I’ve watch now and have seen you in different interviews.I understand now why it’s called “The Beautiful Game “!Thank you for the honesty and the tears ❤
This is a real man. So happy to have seen him play and score so many goals. Arsenal legend, football legend, human legend. Rocky is still loved and still missed.
Twenty two minutes, that's all people need out of their lives and listen IAN WRIGHT.✊
This guy was thorn in many games against my club especially at 2 cup finals in the 90’s at Wembley! However years & years later I came to like the man Ian Wright stands for & still is, complete gentleman & genuinely nice guy. (Owls 💙🦉💙 fan)
I became an Arsenal fan in 1993, because of Ian Wright. He is still my favorite football player.
Heart on his sleeve, such a great man and football legend
My son and his father love football. I did not know that there are people as human, as gentle, as honest, as lovable as this gentleman. Thank you so much for this interview; I understand the passion a bit better now.
A brilliant 22 minutes. RIP Rocky.
Respect Ian wright 👏 South London legend 🙌 🙏.
Ian you are a good lad,you have done very well, you should feel proud of yourself..❤😊😊😊
A wonderful human being who can stand proud at his achievements given the harsh childhood he had. For the fact he achieved so much but gave so much more back is a credit to himself. A first class human being. Respect from a Celtic fan 🏴
Can't watch many more of these, spend the whole time in tears. Legend...inspirational.
This man commands your attention. He’s so honest. He should go into politics. He’s so down to earth too. To say what you man and mean what you say is so refreshing. And he’s meeting with his old teacher Mr Pigden is a real tear jerker.

Politics would ruin him. He’s a good guy. Keep him good, and out of politics.
I am a person who is a result of these experiences in my childhood. There’s so much that resonates with me but if anyone out there is also struggling, I have learned that as you get older, whenever you realize all the layers and facets of events, you answer parts of the questions at a time. I would offer this as just one discovery: just because some people don’t love you, never loved you, never will love you, even though it’s something you would expect from them (i.e. a parent), that doesn’t make YOU unlovable. How someone treats you is a reflection on them, not you. These are 2 completely separate things.

I cried with him too. I saw the short with him and his teacher and this just showed up on feed. This is a real teacher moment. Thank God for the love of teachers and children who are willing to listen and feel the love that we share.

I love Ian Wright interviews. This is the most beautiful I have seen. Arsenal for life.
Ian was the man back then and still is today!!!! To be able to give us the joy we had as children watching him, to him now being able to be infront of millions and show his emotions as a man....priceless
As a life long palace fan who clearly remembers your introduction 'new signing from Greenwich borough' whilst stood high up in the holmesdale I would like to say - Thank you Ian for all the wonderful memories. Totally genuine fella & one of the best players I've had the privilege to watch ❤
I’m a Liverpool fan and I love Ian Wright.

I don't know or care about football, but I love this man
Pure honesty, it's not weak showing vulnerability. Just beautiful!
Mr Wright. You just made me cry like a baby my man. Believe you me my friend. If the world all had dads like you in these crazy times it would be a better place. ❤be good

Has always come across as a genuine, humble man. Cracking player

This man is so pure 🙌
Brilliant Ian. So great to hear your life from your own words. One of my most favourite strikers of my lifetime, utter genius!
This makes me respect the teachers that tried to help me.
I'm a Liverpool fan, and I absolutely love Ian Wright. Such an amazing player, but an even better man.

COYS FOREVER!!
It’s easy to forget that players we watch week in week out are human beings like us! They had to work hard to get to we’re they wanted.
Incredible dude Ian Wright.. have to love the guy!
I've always disliked Arsenal with a passion, but I have to say this fella is a diamond, I can relate to his childhood, although mine wasn't as tough, he is undoubtedly a true inspiration, fair play to you Wrighty
So glad he made it. If anyone deserved to rise to the top it was Wrighty
This guy was my hero growing up. I met him a few years back and he is one of the nicest and most humble guys you could ever hope to meet. It was a book signing and when I joined the end of the queue a girl with a clipboard told me “mr wright is about 30mins over schedule so you may not get to see him” but he wasn’t going to leave until he’d spoken to everyone. I remember him getting in trouble with George Graham for throwing shirts to fans out the dressing room window at Highbury. People’s champion, absolute giant of football and a bona fide legend.
Incredible human being.... He had nothing but has given soooooooo much back. Love you wrighty❤
Im so proud this man played for Arsenal. Great player, even grater man.
It says a lot about Mr Pigden why Wrighty is loved so much, he instilled in him values that makes humans what they really should be, every time I see the moment when Ian takes his hat off on encountering his mentor it gets me every time! that is the amount of respect and adoration he had for that man. Wrighty is a legend to many but Mr Pigden is a legend to a legend. ❤
I absolutely adore Ian. What a great and beautiful man.
So Moving, I always Loves Ian Wright.. such a genuine Man .. So much Respect for him .. and he Really is an inspiration and great role Model, God Bless you Ian and family 🙏🙏🙏
Finally!!! Been waiting for these to come back. Andy Ansah next please!
I love Ian he’s such an amazing man who’s been through his fair share of hardship in his life, and boy what a fucking player he was
As a Liverpool fan, he was always my favourite non liverpool player, because of his personality. The world would be a great place if everyone was like Ian Wright.
I think he just became my favourite footballer. Pure dedication and love for the game
Fantastic! Ian is and always be a legend. And of course, those who inspired him!
My whole wall was covered in Ian Wright posters, not that i knew it back then in Dublin, that we had similar life stories, so watching this now, i can see myself too, hes just a real person with an earned journey. England missed out on his talent international. But at Arsenal a Legend.
What a guy!
I watched this years ago and it was taken down. I'm glad they posted it again
There is nothing but good in this man! Love Wrighty. Brings me to tears every time I watch him. An amazing person on and off the pitch!
Lovely man.Great player.Sad rocastle died such a talented player.
That was class. You can’t not admire Ian Wright.
Mr. Wright, someday i hope by miracle that this message gets to you: there are millions of stories like yours out there in the world but yours is Great because it's about Ian Wright, the man whose brought so much happiness & joy to World Football & beyond. You've been through so much chaos, both bad & ugly. I hurt for you when you talked about your childhood, that was extremely sad & painful to hear. I'm so happy that Mr. Pigden has been a part of your life --- what a great, great teacher & man. I never got to see you play but watching your highlights, listening to you speak during interviews, & hearing what former players have to say about you, i think i've gotten to know you quite well, . Mr. Wright, i love your life story thus far & you deserve an incredible amount of credit for how well you've done & i couldn't be happier for you & your family. I wish you & your loved ones the very best. Cheers. P.S. you're definitely in "The Conversation" when it comes to English Football.
Many of us only know Ian Wright in recent years through his punditry work. I thought this guy can express himself intelligently on TV, not knowing of his demons from growing up. Yes, his teacher got him on the « Wright » track. He is an intelligent guy who is more than just a brilliant football player. Great documentary, thank you so much.
We love you IAN . WRIGHT . YOUR A CREDIT TO YOURSELF. AND AN EXAMPLE TO US ALL . LIFE WAS UNFAIR BUT YOU KEPT FIGHTING AND STAYED GOLDEN. XXXXXX
Always been a hero to me , watching him as a young player a palace ,even when he went to arsenal still looked out for him top man,top player ,and genuine nice fella , cheers Ian 🦅🦅🦅
What a lovely man.
What a great story!! Absolute legend! We need more wrighty's in the world 💯 ❤ Shoutout to the teacher too 👌 Just shows you how 1 good person who lends you abit of their time can have such a huge impact on our journey!!
A top man Wrighty! ❤ I'm an 80's baby. Lifelong Man utd fan but Ian Wright was always my favourite Striker. He could do it all upfront! ❤
WOW!! I new Ian had a rough start but never thought it was how he explained it. Superb man, footballer & inspirational to all. Loved watching his career then as i still do now.🙌
I am humbled ❤ I love this man!!
You can't help but like Ian Wright. Even when I saw him score live against my team ( Stoke ) .. ❤
Wrighty, you are a self made man, who has earned the respect and admiration of many my man. You are an example to many young and old. Big up to you Wrighty and others like your teacher.😊
I'm a SPURS fan from Melbourne Australia and gee I used to hate Arsenal and what they used to do to my SPURS but as I've got older and wiser and read and listened to what so many of these great Arsenal players have gone through I not only admirer them I RESPECT them unconditionally. If the world had more people like Ian Wright it would be a much greater place!
What a man footballer professional - respect mate👍
Lovely guy and very humble really felt for him hearing about his childhood but he made well done 👏
I was tearing up all through... This is a touching story. Many people will try to make U feel less of yourself but we all have to keep fighting in times like this.
Omg my greatgrand father was Syrian who emigrated to Jamaica in 1896..we have a common band ..hero of mine because of his fearlessness haircut and style but ultimately we shared a lived experience in 70s Britain
Respect
Such an amazing story . Parts of this story regarding his childhood I felt like I was living my life through him in a lot of the things he was saying from a young boy to his late teenage years . Ian comes across as a very humble person who is very down to earth and wears his heart on his sleeve . Well done Mr Wright ❤
Damn i never started crying so fast, he's a beautiful human, Wrighty ❤
