Yes, I grow up with the metal pencil sharpeners attached to the wall or teacher's desk. You could press a tap on the face of the sharpeners to select the size of your pencil. The larger hole was for the bigger pencils that kindergartens and 1st graders used when they were learning how to hold a pencil and writing their letters.

I was tempted to steal one when I graduated high school as part memento part tool. They're just built so beefy and correct that they always worked perfectly. I didn't but I wasn't the only one tempted. it was also every person in the art class.

I absolutely loved evil teacher Jackie and enjoyed every second of this video. 🤣 I completely agree on your assessment of those art tests. In some subjects, there is no room for different interpretation and you can't let students stray from facts. But subjects like art classes or literature? Too subjective to draw a clear line between what is corrent and what is wrong.

Reading and writing stories, and drawing/creating art requires imagination and thinking outside the box. Teaching those subjects by adhering to strict rules and declaring ideas "wrong" is a sure method to quash kids' interest in them

I worked in a Montessori school as an assistant and one of my jobs was to sharpen the pencils and coloured pencils for 3 classes. Before we got an electric pencil sharpener, I had to do it manually and it gave me blisters!

The different dials on the pencil sharpener is for different sizes of pencils when I was in 3rd grade I have a judge pencil about 4 cm wide

I wear glasses and I got called being a nerd

I always have hand cramps bcs I am OBSESSED WITH SHARP PENCIIIIIIIIILLLLLLL.

So I'm my kids' teacher (southeastern us school sucks and no one follows IEP.... ) so yeah we do have one of those pencil sharpeners LOL. we "unschool" We use some curriculum but a lot of stuff is done unconventionally through hands on learning, documentaries about whatever subject we're studying, visiting museums, historical sites (especially the ones where they dress up like old times and you tour what things were like), and zoo/aquariums. We're loving it and my kids are thriving. My 9 year old is currently reading "Sherlock Holmes".

As an artist... I prefer tiny pencils. Hand cramps be darned!

I had thows mettel pencil sharpners in class when I was at school and I even bought one at a school garage sail but it got nicked best sharpener I ever had!❤❤❤
