I feel like this deck should run the baubles for a possible turn 3 win. They’re free and sac themselves to start the combo.

Agreed, Seth should be a bauble head too

I tend to underrate Bauble I think, but it does seem really good here.
If you hold full control with bowmaster triggers on the stack, you can sac each 1/1 army to the bombardment to get 6 damage from opponents brainstorming

Seth plays several games before posting a video and decides which game will draw in viewers (prophetic luck) and makes that the first game in the video. It's by design. Not by chance. Also if make thousands of guesses and he gets some right then it appears to be skewed by luck when in reality he just designed it to be that way. Seth is a good player but has the same odds as anyone who plays this game as often as he does.
For cards that are very aptly named, I always feel like murder takes the cake

Ponder is the most aptly named card. Seeing people think for minutes if what they see is good enough or if they need a blind shuffle fits.
The bauble head joke was a real knee slapper.

By the way Seth, I added crime novelist to the standard Izzet artifacts deck that you played a few weeks ago and it made a huge difference. It’s a bomb there!

Ohh, I'm going to have to try that!
I really enjoy how arenas animation effects makes it so the card goes to your hand and then immediately goes to the graveyard when your gamble. It’s like the game knows and immediately takes it from you
Idk if it counts but whenever anyone needs to now name a card not in their deck to win, like for a Demonic Consultation/ Oracle combo, we all can name "You are already dead" to win.

I run crime novelist in my Prosper brawl deck. Its brutal when I have the full engine of Prosper, Birgi, Xorn and Crime Novelist going. Free spells for days.

Dont count out Altar of Dementia! It can be a backup for something like goblin bombardment in infinites
You know, Seth, Orcish Bowmasters can start the combo, too. If you have a +1/+1 counter on an orc army, you can activate the module to get the first servo and start the loop. Any time you amass starts the loop as well. That game where you sacked the Bowmasters to gamble for a Shambling Gast just needed to wait until your opponent triggered the Bowmasters and you would have won.
@epochsgaming

He also semi punted by playing the delta and not using the altar for mana. Would have been a 1 in 4 on the gamble
This was cool to see. I literally was just making a plus one plus one counter/persist deck in paper that does the exact same thing. You showed some cards I didn’t know about/was looking for.
I love the point you may later on in the video about the lighting up. I actually just had a game today where that hovering actually told me exactly what card they had in their hand. I was playing that 'exile everything' you had a few days back... And BECAUSE they lit up the graveyard, I knew that they had the card that recursed from the graveyard. I exiled the one in their graveyard, and was absolutely right. Plucked it right from their hand, before they could pull anything from the yard. The light-up hovering was actually one of the final pieces that locked that game down as a victory!
The bombardent call was sick haha, you had the fragment identity Leyline deck in timeless but I can’t keep up with magic lately as there are new product and stuff every two weeks
I've taken to mainboarding 4x Roiling Vortex in Timeless these days against Show and Tell.
Great video as always
One of my favourites is Eaten by Spiders. Just because it sounds funny to actually build a sentence with it "Griselbrand is Eaten by Spiders" for example
The fact that the card went to the graveyard so quick when he cast gamble had me on the floor 😂😂😂😂
Cool deck! An altar of dementia instead of ashnod’s altar would be an alternate free sac outlet that wins on the spot.
I love the flavor of the beginning of this video! 😆
I actively think about the hovering too. If I ever do need to hover over something to read it, I make sure to hover other things too, so it's less obvious what I'm thinking.
Hi, I love your content. This channel has such good stuff
Thanks for being a good distraction from this scary windstorm outside 😌
16:23 there was no need to hold the orc army as a blocker to play around the ragavan. If you planned to block it and trade, you could just as easily sac the army to bombard the 2/1 monkey to death before it hits.
I love Crime Novelist - my current standard deck is a Naya Treasures deck that then wins via Song of Totentanz. Dies to removal pretty quick, but everyone leaves the CN alone and aims for the more important threats (or what seem like it). Everything falls apart with Farewell though. I do have fun with this deck.
In Match 2, you can be aggressive and not wait for Ragavan because Goblin Bombardment can deal 1 damage to any target, so you could've pulled the trigger at any time if you wanted to blank the damage
That intro screen noooooo i will be forever be traumatized 😵
54:28 I listen to these while i am aim training and Laughing messes up my aim so bad hahaha 😂😂
Seth, writing that novel about crime. Featuring gambling and the occasional cameo by the monkey
38:35 "I don't know how we get it to die..." my brother in christ there is a diabolic intent right there
I love writing, so I bet I'll love this
1:08:05 I've been thinking about this as well! Sometimes it's like extra knowledge that can give you a slight advantage. I've been trying to tell some creators I watch on KZread this because they hover over the cards to explain their interactions/ what the best thing the opponent should do and Idk if they realize the opponent can see that or not
38:55 "What 's the worst that can happen by waiting..."
"Opponent is reading Crime Novelist...which is exactly what he wants," had me dead. I've tried a lot of decks with Crime Novelist, and I think it has the problem that a lot of other 3 drops have: it usually doesn't impact the board or your hand the turn it comes down unless you already have the board set up for it, and it's really easy for your opponent to answer with only 1 or 2 mana. Kind of why haughty djinn and Monastery Mentor didn't do much until people started to cheat then out for 1 or 2 mana....
@number4497
3 ай бұрын
Oh what ways are people cheating out Mentor? I quite like that card
23:03 That would have been a good Bowmaster moment.
fblthp is under the table in the crime novelist art
I believe Spice8Rack has a 16 minute video for you explaining how "Goblin Grenade" is the answer to your question about most aptly named magic cards. Gamble is definitely on the short list though. Red has a wealth of cards with fantastic names and flavor
Taking this moment to call out animation module as a sick card in my Grumgully EDH deck
Wait, at 23:22 you didn't Bowmaster in response to the Treasure Cruise. What am I missing? I thought you were holding it up to punish that card...

Yeah i've noticed recently that the monologue occurring and the game being played aren't concurrent. I'm assuming this is an editing thing and not a 'somebody else is doing gameplay and here's Seth's head' thing. But definitely odd.

You know they drew that stern scolding he immediately scooped to with the treasure cruise too
Thank you for the opening, just in time for my eye surgery
that game 1 scry showed that we do live in a simulation
Best named cards in my opinion are Didn't Say Please and Saw it Coming. Although "Once Upon a Time" was pretty good for its day
Drop that mana alter for the alter of dementia. Unless that isn’t on mtga.
What about running some artifact lands in this deck? fill a land drop and can sac themselves for the combo
Seth: Not sure how I can get my freebooter to die. Also Seth: Has Diabolic Intent in hand.
You could try a one-of permanent based removal spell, like Leyline Binding, in the sideboard. It seems weird, but if you're running that many tutors, it could work as something to keep in your hand against Shown and Tell. You don't ever need to be able to cast it.
@zackestin1368
3 ай бұрын
Even more beautiful is go the winota deck tech, and mull for Agent of Treachery in opening hand
I think Seth just likes obscure 3 piece combos with some tutors and interaction no matter what the actual combo is as long as it has those 3 he is happy.
@51:00 It would have cost some of your dear mana, but Roiling Vortex does have a secret activated ability that sometimes lets my burn deck win through an Atraxa.
Surely fling has to be one of the most fitting card names
Always use gamble as an entomb effect
When your opponent cast the brainstorm, you could have let the first bowmaster trigger resolve, sac the army, let the second resolve, sac the army, let the third resolve. It leaves you with bowmaster and 1/1 army. Next turn, even without the bolts, you can swing, hit for two, sac army, cast second bowmaster, and kill them.
omg 😂 when he said most people are not just like haha trying to stifle your for no reason at all
maybe a go for the throat or two for Atraxa in the sideboard, especially since you got tutors.
Baublehead would be a pretty sweet alchemy card that conjures Baubles...
Second opponent certainly was a baublehead, Seth. He certainly was.
At 33:30 if you have a gamble and another tutor in hand with 2 of 3 combo pieces you should have gambled with a full hand and if you discard a combo piece just use the other tutor to grab it again.
35:24 The most aptly named magic card is definitely Lizard Warrior. What does it do? It's a Lizard Warrior.
The second opponent I think had no lands in hand and decided to waste Expressive Iteration to dig for one.
In Match 4 vs Show & Tell, when they brainstormed with a Bowmasters on board. Couldn't you have held priority and sacced a 1/1 Orc three times with Goblin Bombardment?
"Baublehead": Grade A+ for punnage especially relevent with the advent of Fallout tv series, etc.
Seth, the way to play when you have gamble in hand is to use it when you have a large hand size. You might have won if you had used it earlier.
There's lots of very aptly named cards, but my fav I think is Massacre Girl. I don't think I've ever not killed at least 4 creatures in a game of commander with her.
30:29 Turns out magics best cards are far more broken than digital only cards. It makes my boomer heart happy
Apologies for my ignorance but where can I submit a deck for Seth to look at? I made an Anzrag Xenagos combo deck that I’d love for him to look at. Thank you!!
Grief is aptly named. Maybe not mechanically, but it is the emotion I feel when I see the card.
In the first game of match 2, what was the point of holding back the orc token to block a ragavan when there was a goblin bombardment on board anyway?
the thumbnail scarred me
I was going to say Silence for most aptly named card, but whenever it gets put to stack, everyone suddenly has something to say
I think Drain Life is a card name that perfectly describes how the card plays. And of course: Counterspell.
That artifact deck was so cool. Can you please play it on much abrew or something?
can you do a crime novelist with new krenko (the one that sacs artifacts) deck? The goblins krenko makes aren't artifacts (though, what if you changed that), but having both of them out would turn a treasure into a goblin+1 mana, and any artifact that likes being sacked into at minimum a goblin for free. sidenote: I made a krenko commander deck, and the deck didn't work right until I figured out you have to take out most of the goblins and go krenko artifacts. krenko supplies the goblins and the pump, and the deck supplies the artifacts and the card draw.
Most aptly named magic cards lightning bolt and shock, they feel like they sound. Also monastery swiftspear...
I've been putting this video off, but I wish I hadn't. I don't usually nitpick Seth's play, but today, I've been shaking my head too hard. First, if your Treasure Cruise protection is Orcish Bowmasters, you PLAY the Bowmasters. Sure, it can be countered, which I assume is why you hesitated, but the odds a counter is on the way increases if Cruise resolves unmolested. Second, if you're playing Gamble in a combo deck, you cast Gamble with AS MANY cards in your hand. If you lose a combo piece, you will have time to tutor for it or whatever. If you wait until you only have two other cards in your hand, you effectively back yourself into a corner where you HAVE to win your gamble. But, then of course, I don't play professionally/expositionally.
Would impact tremors also work with Both sac outlet
Waiting for ragavan when you bave. a goblin bombardment to sac the orc army anyways

Izzet Crime Novelist with Saheelis next? (Also Esoteric Duplicator)
Crime novelist is the bee's knees.
Card name that describes the feeling you feel when you/your opponent plays it? Invoke Despair.
Saw it Coming
Why did 20:35 actually make me laugh??? lmoa
i also think a lot about where i'm hovering my mouse on arena, to the extent where if i see a card i don't know, i'll look it up on a browser rather than hovering to read it. i don't want to telegraph anything
Someone just killed me in Standard using Novelist and a bunch of treasure, while having Warleader's Call on the battlefield, to cast a massive White Sun's Twilight (X = 19 which was exactsies but I can't remember if they could have done more). I'd kept a durdle hand so I deserved it (this was like turn 7 or 8, they had time to cast Hit the Motherlode for example lol)
Turns out the real combo was the servos we made along the way.
I think the most perfectly named magic card is still Murder.

Humor me pls.
Note: If you have a DRC and bauble in your deck, it can often be good to cast expressive interation on T2
I feel that The One Ring really should have have text on it stating that your deck can only contain one copy of the card.
Heart of the Cards: (Seth, today, I will shine upon thee many blessings of perfect draws.) Seth: ... the odds aren't high, so maybe I'll just prevent 4 damage instead of having 2 more mana... Heart of the Cards: (....)
Gambling never pays off Olive. There is a number you can call to stay anonymous but they may recognize your voice.
this video teaches us that the best way to win is your opponent casting a draw 3 into your bowmaster/bowmaster mana
Gamble better known as red entomb
Would Oni-cult Anvil be worth it? It lets you sacrifice any artifact, including itself, and gives you a body in exchange. It could solve the "I don't have an artifact" issue, and can convert a non-sacable artifact into a creature for the Goblin Bombardment.
