Yeah, was honestly a little painful to watch... I mean, great video, amazing insights, fantastic explanations... But such a well played game (as far as my Patzer mind can comprehend) and almost all he exclusively had to say for himself were negative things... Damn. It really is that "who is rich, he who is happy with his lot"... I can one day become NM, and would not feel one iota better about my chess, just like how I don't feel any better about it now, than I did when I was 1200... It's all internal work!

@@danispringer I was mostly kidding. Levy played decently well, better than I could, but for his level he did make mistakes and it's important that he understands them. Hikaru had similar things to say about the game that Levy did in his recap of the game as well, so it's not just that Levy lacks confidence.

I do think (and so does his coach, and I guess so does he himself, since he hides TT opponents names with extension) that he's better than he plays now, because of getting in his head, confidence etc. But interesting to know that Hikaru's analysis was similar. I wonder if he watched it before making this video... Although I would imagine not.

I like the fact that Levy decided to participate in the IM tournament. He’s not in there to get a GM norm but he is there to make it so an IM norm is achievable for the 7 FMs, CMs, and NMs competing against him. I think Levy easily wins 6.5 to 7.5 out of 9 here and adds 10-20 elo rating to his name. Now if it’s a clean sweep 9-0 Fischer style we’d have to begin doing the procedure.

Happy to see gotham chess recover from that dark place he was about a year ago when he was thinking about quitting. To me this game has still endless fun to give. BTW, have you tried removing pieces to stockfish level 8 to see how many pieces you have to take from it in order to win without takebacks, even wining with takebacks still seems impossible to me. I imagine all kinds of challenges you could play to train against lower rated players...
