They should just have a 'Sergio Calvo' award at Golden Demon to give you by default, and give all the regular human beings a chance of winning something.

Before a horse race, if one horse is massively favoured ahead of the rest, the bookmakers will sometimes create a "betting without" market where they completely ignore that horse and take bets as if it's not running. We basically need that with this guy.
Do you know what I love about your work? In this era of photorealism and incredibly smooth and precise blends, where imperfections are seen as abhorrent in a competitive painting space, you have cemented a painterly, almost impressionistic style of painting, that has bold and exciting brush strokes and textures, and you're blowing the competition away with it. It's a breath of fresh air.

Yep, really creative uses of light and texture that would not appear on a real object, but work perfectly on a mini. His minis really remind me of classic fantasy illustrations.
As usual, otherworldly. It's absurd that you don't have more subscribers. These videos are just relaxing, inspiring, and surreal.
That’s the best I’ve ever seen…. I mean there’s painting minatures and then there’s painting a painting onto a miniature… Incredible.

Congratulations! The patience required to slowly build up all those layers and highlights is as much a testament to your skill as the fineness of the painting itself.
Been into Warhammer and 40k since I was a kid. Ive never painted a model or had an army. But I love the art and the stories. It always blows me away the talent painters have within this hobby. Great job mate!

Buy the reaper core skills starter kit! It's perfect to get anyone started with easy tutorial and got me back into Warhammer.
The majestic value of your art is so inspiring. And so soul crushing. The editing, music, and of course painting is so bespoke and unique. The pride u must feel in your work certainly shows.
You knew it was going to be spectacular, and probably win, and that's why you made this video. There's like multiple layers of genius going on here.
This is one of the most astonishing pieces of artistry i have ever witnessed. And as a fantasy/sci-fi/40k fan it just blew me away. Ive never seen such genuinely lifelike miniatures. Watching you work is a blessing to someone like me that has never been good with a brush. Well deserved. BRAVO!
The way you add depth and detail to things like skin folds and muscle striations is an absolute masterclass
Wow. The talent, the patience, the command of colours. Just UN BE LIEVABLE skill.
An unbelievable artist - not just a mini painter! Each time I think you've finished one part or detail, you add another 3-4 layers...Another well deserved GD.
When the paintwork on the miniature is almost done. If I pause the video. I feel like I have to convince my brain that it's actually a figurine and not some 3D augmented reality graphic. Insane work.

truly amazing to see how far standards have come over the years. Beautiful work, truly! Respect from an old GW painter and GD honorable mention from many many years ago!
Insanity, the colors and your color gradients are awesome and then comes your attention to detail, that's what makes your work so unique, you literally breathe life into your characters
Genuinely thought that was a 2d painting from the thumbnail, not a fully painted minature. You've raised the bar in a big way, amazing stuff!
At no point does the previous step look difficult, then you get to the end, and we see, and we go "how the...?" Wonderful.
This is truly the most impressive piece of miniature painting I’ve ever watched or seen. I…. Words…. Can’t….. So impressive. Congratulations and well done, beyond inspirational!

You need to see every diorama on cool mini or not and on putty and paint websites
Your stippling strokes turn out like magic runes. Wonderful technique!
Beautiful! I don't understand why Rembrandt would get credit for his work, when I think something like this is equal to or surpasses what critics call "art"!!!
Dude I thought it was an artist drawing in the thumbnail 🫨😁
This is not painting a miniature. This is awesome art. You are gifted.Thank you for sharing.
have tears in my eyes, this is truly beautiful, I never knew miniature painting could touch your soul, thank you, really!
Your attention to details is just mind blowing! Congratulations!
Whats even crazier is that you put these videos out for all to see. That is like a general advertising his strategy and still winning. "I read your book you beautiful bastard!"- General Patton
this video I think has to be one of the most inspiring videos on this site to get into the studio and practice more painting. amazing work
Muy merecido premio, jamas había visto ese dominio de la luz pintando una miniatura, solo en lienzos. Felicitaciones!
This man is an artist who just decided to do miniatures. Brings em to life without question
The ork physiology in this piece is very reminiscent of the older art styles. I love it.
Waw ! Quel résultat ! Quelle patience ! Impressionnant ! Une pièce aboutie au moindre détail près. Bravo. Chapeau l'artiste. Ça donne bien envie d'essayer de se rapprocher modestement de ce niveau.
El video engancha hasta verlo acabado! Increíble trabajo y muy cuidado a nivel visual. Felicidades!!
This is f-ing insane! It is as if you have every colour mapped out in your head already before you start to paint, just filling it in by the numbers and it all comes together in the end! Amazing!
Such precision, amazing painting skills. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a master at work.
i think people who don't paint figurine don't think how this skill is in an other galaxy. I think im not bad at painting figurine and people are amazed by my paint. Me? Im amazed about the experience and skill of Sergio Calvo, its a level so big that i know i will never reach cause i don't have the time for so much experience its just pure art and masteries.

So it’s not so much his skill with a brush, nor his techniques, but his mastering of colour palette, and his eye for building up the highlights. Thanks, great painting. I’ll try to incorporate some of this into my work.

@TheHappyhorus
4 ай бұрын
@@Raii_Chu it means his hand isn’t any steadier, he’s not using a special technique others can’t acquire, his fine detail application isn’t remarkable in itself per say, he isn’t applying especially thin coats of paint, my point is these skill are fairly commonplace in the model making community, I myself have the same skills. What IS remarkable is his use of the colour palette 🎨, using colours that others wouldn’t think to use as accent colours, and his skill in building up these layers. THESE particular skill are incredible. It’s using all these skill, the set building etc combined that makes his pieces masterful. I’m by no means knocking anything about the work, simply remarking that the individual skills (except the use of colour) are not exceptional alone.

bro let me tell you he is mastering every painting skills from brush/airbrush to any kind of techniques, plus his sense of volumes , colours, focus points ambiance, dramatics, taste, overall vision etc is out of this world. from an artist prospective mastering all of them as he did, belong to very few. No doubt he is one of the bests around, this kind of work can only confirm.

Yes, he is a master. No doubts here.
Thank you for sharing this - especially your freehand technique! It's inspiring to see that even if it's not perfect at first it can be cleaned up and come out looking spectacular. Congratulations on your big win!
Love the rusty orange tones contrasting with the green, because it also contrasts the artifical with the biological matter in the same way. It really gives the diorama a grounded feel because its so thematically consistent, both in color scheme and whats actually being depicted by the models. Its a great and simple starting idea to build upon and prevents the whole thing from becoming too complex. And because the base plan is so straighforward, you can really go all out on the details because they will pop a lot more, like the insane amout of different shades of the orange and green.
When I was watching the skin painting section, I thought I was watching someone painting an Orc on a canvass. Bravo!
Such amazing and bold use of colours and contrasts, it just doesnt compute in my brain how you make it look so easy.
It’s like looking at a 4D comic with all the vivid colors and details. Such an amazing talent.

Absolutely insane how easy it seems but how difficult it is to paint as you do. I have learnt a lot in a few minutes. Inspiring everyone watching your video.
It looks like an illustration brought to life, absolutely well deserved gold!
not only is the diaorama a masterpiece, so is this video! Bravo! And the music! Gods the music! I would love to know where I can find the music! I must listen to this more!
You should publish a book about painting minis, you're one of the best out there.
Your skill and colour sense is out of this world! Congrats.
Absolutely inspiring work. Could watch this on loop all day.
I love how you calmly and peacefully paint the most brutal and unruly species of the galaxy.
I love the balance of decision and randomness with the technique used on the mouth. At the end ( and it appears pretty much everywhere on the diorama ) despite some voluntary randomness, the result is highly controlled and that's what I really like about it
Amazing Diorama!!😍 And well deserved Golden Demon Gold Medal for you Sergio!🥇
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Thank you for putting your work of art into a beautiful video. Bravo.
