I wish I’d tried this years ago. But it’s never too late to start!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Sometimes you have to stop thinking and just go where your heart leads you. Start painting whenever you can. There are no rules. You can still be whoever you want to be. Feel things you’ve never felt before. Meet people who see things differently from you. Live a life you’re proud to live. Never be afraid to start again.

    I really respect something you stated. You were talking about drawing the leaf shapes. You acknowledged a leaf you like using, but, accepted that it was not 'your' shape. Others make it and not something you alone are the creator of it. I turn away from artists very quickly when they claim they invented, created, or are the origin of elements. Recently, I heard someone say that painted open circle was their patented creation. Wow, how old they must be. (lol) Thank you for your grace and honesty.

    23:20 I started using a sock instead of a sweat band in place of my watercolor towel. I had so many singleton socks skulking around from my now-adult kids, It was easy to find one with a still-nice clean cotton cuff, trim the foot part off, and use the sock cuff as a wristlet.

    I loved this piece and the background is very pretty with the new paints. 🎨 I also gravitate towards painting and drawing leaves. The more you added the more interesting the piece became. It turned out lovely and the paints are very nice! I enjoyed hearing about your daily soup ritual and the broccoli soup sounded delicious. 🥣 How about a cookbook Diane with the ingredients printed over a painting of a primary ingredient like an herb!🌿 💕📕This is the part of your videos that I enjoy about you while you so effortlessly guide us through a new painting adventure. You’re a jewel Diane! 🎨💕👍❤️👏

    How I loved spending a rainy Sunday morning chat time with you learning an abstract way to free my inhibitions. I can’t wait to try this technique out on my own today. I also had a glimpse of another lesson where you recommended a book with the word soul in the title… But then I lost it! Can you please give me the title again and point me to the lesson where you introduced that book. So frustrated that I lost it before I could learn about it. You are the best, Diane! "Knives"! Oops. Also, nice set of paints! This set is 21% off right now on Amazon US, so from $32 down to $26, then there is a 30% off coupon if you check a box under the price making it about $18. The coupon limits the special price to one per customer. On the background, it looks like this paint has more flow or movement than the regular Kuretake. Do you think so? ...or is it my imagination?

    That’s so funny!! Mine all came second-hand too. Our family wasn’t posh enough to have such things! You know that’s a thing for me, I find it hard with all the possessions we all have - when I was a kid we only had one pair of scissors in the house and I wasn’t allowed to touch them!

    And about the paint, yes, I felt it flowed really well and made really nice blends really easily. And it was only Meeden paper I was using, so the comparison is fair, same paper as always with Kuretake. And thanks for that clarification about the coupon being limited to one per customer - now I understand!!!

And frankly I have so much more fun when I can paint intuitively like this! I've recently purchased a tin of derwent inktense ink pencils. I've swatched them all out and really love them when they are used like a watercolour with the paintbrush. It's my birthday so I've had a bundle of art supplies and currently swatching everything so I have a systematic record of the colour and as you said I'm getting used to the medium, how it moves, how much water I need etc. I'm looking forward to finishing swatching and moving onto playtime with all these new goodies. I haven't yet played around in full with the inktense but I've already planned out using it in different ways with watercolour paints, trying dipping the pencil in water first and seeing what sort of line it produces, placing it on wet paper and seeing how much the line difuses, using it as my mark making item for drawing out a design (rather than graphite pencil) and painting in between and seeing how it mixes, plus the colour on colour play you suggested. Can't wait.

    You can do it! One of the good things about Gansai Tambi is that you can take it in stages. There is no pressure to finish a painting in one go. So even if you did one fairly large (say half the size of mine) you can stop and start as energy allows. I’m going to do some really small ones soon too, as the little ones make great gift cards and are a lot of fun - even bookmarks work like this don’t they!

    The Derwent inktense pencils ARE described by Derwent as water colour pencils Diane, they just say they are intense and work LIKE ink, but definitely water colour pencils.

    I believe you are correct Pauline. Thanks for mentioning this - I‘ve written to Derwent asking them for more details on what exactly the substance is. They are a bit quiet on that on their website.

    Hi Diane! Thank you for being my good friend! You make me feel like you are right here with me listening and talking and just being a fantastic artist and friend! I love this, and also what you wrote in the newsletter. Coincidentally, we just watched the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", again, and I love the quote from the movie you put in the newsletter. Also, the subject you addressed regarding how important it is the create and not feel guilty about it..." ask yourself whether any of those other things you "should" be doing would create anything more beautiful or more loving." I love that!!! ❤❤❤

    A beautiful set of watercolors. This isn't important in the overall scheme of things...as the tin is easy enough to replace. However...I'm confounded by the velvet base in a watercolors tin. The thought process evades me. : )

  • @DianeAntoneStudio

    @DianeAntoneStudio

    I know. It’s not the only set I’ve heard of with a velvet container. I have always taken my Gansai Tambi paints out of their box and replaced them in a more appropriate palette and I would do the same with these ones most likely. First job though is to write with an indellible pen on the bottom the name of the color!! I’m sure they’ll correct that, I’ll send them a note about it!

    Thanks for all your wonderful videos Diane! My experience with the aqua bronze powder is that it does need a fixative because when dry it will rub off a little.🍀💖

  • @DianeAntoneStudio

    @DianeAntoneStudio

    Ай бұрын

    I think if you make sure the powder is well mixed with water that rubbing off will be much less. Mine looks good so far. But I can see that if I hadn’t mixed it really well it might have dusted off partially. Fixative is a good idea.

    In US, coupons are generally issued by the manufacturer in order to gain traction in the market. They come in news ads or online scan codes or rebates (which is a hassle). Some coupons offer for example 10% off your purchase for that item.

  • @DianeAntoneStudio

    @DianeAntoneStudio

    I remember coupons when I was a young woman, which we used to get in the newspaper or magazine, and cut them out and take them to the shop to get a reduction on a price. The idea of electronic coupons which are just written underneath the price on Amazon is strange to me!
