I want to worry less, I want to be able to help family, I want to travel more, I want to donate more to Doctors Without Borders, I want a $20k yurt at Coachella. Young people rarely know what they want. In my 20s someone helped me with a few goals. It unleashed the power to making the first 100k. I was lucky for that. Keep up the awesome teachings!

I've been in the red for a while now and although people say these crisis has it perks, I'm losing my mind but I get it. Investing is a long-term game. @Lloyd Bernard Having an investment adviser is the best way to go about the market right now, especially for near retirees, I've been in touch with a coach for awhile now mostly cause I lack the depth knowledge and mental fortitude to deal with these recurring market conditions I netted over $220K during this dip, that made it clear there's more to the market that we just don't know.

Funny enough, I got on his platform too, I started with a $18k initial capital that has appreciated to over $96k profit in six months. Although I feel the commissions are quite high but excellent service overall.

I feel bad for the people who don't understand what Ramit is talking about. There may be two reasons: 1. You have not read his book published in 2009 (I will teach you to be rich). 2. You don't understand what it feels like to grow up in an immigrant family, especially an immigrant family from South East Asia. His book has good money-saving tips and tricks. It was all about being judicious about money but there was very little mention of enjoying life when you have the money. That's why he did not bother with repeating those money-saving tips and tricks. People like Dave Ramsey has already taken care of that. It is good to see how much his philosophy has changed since then. This lecture is focused on the next part of a person's life. When you have the money then what? I have a relative (65 years old) sitting on millions of dollars. He simply does not know what to do with his money because he never thought about his money dials. I asked him about it and he said "I have forgotten how to spend, and the only thing I can think about is saving". This may sound a bit extreme, but it is more common than you think, especially for people coming from poverty. When he will die his children will fight over who will get what. That is why this lecture has resonated so much with me. What is the point of a rich life if you don't know what to do with it or how to enjoy life?

Brilliant.. And when you spend it, the worry of saving it won't make you more poor - this is how minds grow, when you don't have to think about needs, then you can use your mind to be what it is. If you worry about the fulfillment of needs, with money you'll seek for a luxury house - while a better person may seek for something genius like Da Vinci. If buying a better house for luxury is what magnified in your life - it means you always seeked to fulfill that need, while in reality you never had to worry about it. Thinking about needs make you more poor, and poverty is just a state of mind.

I think people are either failing to see the point or his deliberately omitting information so that you can go and buy his book. If you spend more money and more time on the thing you love ... you become an expert and you can become an entrepreneur and that one thing will make you rich because someone will pay you to teach them or you will make and buy that item and sell it to like minded people and you will live a rich life because you will be doing want you love most and earning from it. That’s my take on this entire speech. He has a great point and it makes sense.

Nice and informative video. let's always focus on how to earn, I used to think of cryptocurrency trading as an afterthought, but it's turned out to be a major source of passive income since I met Mr Jeffrey Alby Holmes, his experience in the cryptocurrency market is second to none

"Money psychology" : that's why Dave Ramsey, Ramit, and others have so much success teaching personal finance. There is no point searching for hours for a lower interest rate if you are not ready to pay down debt aggressively in the first place.

Ramit there are alot of tradesmen who suffered the impact of a recession. Can you speak to ppl who earn less than 100K but have 401K's and in our 40's . I live in the Bay and construction is booming. I'm debt free other than a morgage. Soo many apps for investing via M1, Robin hood, its confusing..

I like this talk for personal psychology around money. How are we as a society going to invest and spend correctly on our communities, particularly the super vulnerable who have no financial literacy/limited access to resources/preyed upon by loan sharks, etc? Preyed upon by "prolife" politicians who don't give a dn about kids raised in poverty? As a former preschool teacher and an aspiring librarian in grad school, I cannot help but ask these questions. Great talk, my cousin turned me into this when I decided to think about what I want my life to look like instead of whatever my job is.

I am 21 and I’ve been reading the second edition of your book and I love it! I found I was already following a lot of the mentality side and even money handling side but the introduction of investing and certain savings account changed the game !

Listening to someone talk about business can be boring the speakers put you in a trance with their blah blah blah monotone voice this is what I love about ramit he's exciting he's fun and he knows how to walk you through the process of getting a job better job getting a raise I personally experienced good results from listening to his advice

Changing the psychology around money, is what I came out with from this talk, and here I was before clicking the video 😂 thought of the way his going to talk about invest , double your incomes, I so loved this talk.

Sadly, he did not teach anything about how to be or get rich... He did get us to think in definitive terms of what we want to do with the money once we get it.

Wealth has more to do with happiness. Also more about the money we *keep* / invest, not necessarily the money we *first earn/make* (also, our best investments are in people?)

I guarantee they are time poor however. Time is cheap when you are young and gets more expensive as you get older because you have less time left. Actually, I know plenty of people who make a lot of money but spend all of it, perhaps not staying poor, but in a far worse situation than they could be and suffering because of their decisions.

Thank you Ramit, it changes my mind when I truly need the advise from creating my rich life during this inflation moment. My rich life would be having a very nice ecological bio home in a nice (preferably hot) weather area with animal friendly gardens that can be multi purpose for cooking lessons, demonstrations of eco farming and green buildings.

@@abdenourcharef1357 I had similar experience at first but I got to know better when I reached an expert trader Jeffrey Matthew. He takes care of my trades while i monitor the progress because i barely have time from my work. It's not free though, he takes 25% commission of profits he makes for me while i take 75%, it's a better deal for me compared to the losses i had trading myself.

Something I’ve noticed is that you can use coupons your whole life and not be rich, but if you invest in your 20’s you’ll most likely be very very comfortable. I don’t bother using coupons because I only ever SAVE a few dollars. I don’t MAKE a few dollars. Coupons only operate on the basis of how much you spend. That amount is small and does not grow. Making money can grow and you will make much more than you save.

The point he made was getting value from taking a vacation and building memories- one lady in this video said she spends money on fitness and mentioned (at the gym you get the social avenue and community, working out is healthy and fulfilling)- that makes your rich, and it's something you can't put a dollar sign on!

Normally I would agree, but I think you missed the forest for the trees here. He knows he can't tell you how to spend every dollar. So he is helping you learn mental tools to make decisions and think critically. When I think "Good speech skill x nothing=nothing", I am thinking people who put interesting hot takes on social media but can't so much as write a book or article beyond that.

This man is a great speaker

I wonder why people think that they all can achieve the same level of "success" after being taught a skill. For example, I could be taught how to play basketball from Stephen Curry. Still at the end of the day I will still be at best junior college level player. Its an interesting speech and it could help some people. The nicest part of this is it should help you understand yourself better and that is a good thing.

Anything is possible, even Stephen Curry didn't just became good, he probably has talent for basketball but he still continuously improve his skill through training.

@@javier.alvarez764 It's not true that anything is possible, especially when you're talking about stuff like this. Are you saying that the people who aren't at Stephen Curry's level didn't get there because they didn't train hard enough? There are plenty of people who really do the best they can and they'll never be the best or even close. If we're talking sports, people train their entire lives and never achieve their dreams of making pro. Stephen Curry is close to 1 in a billion. It's not realistic. A lot of things are possible but you still have to be realistic about what is actually achievable.

Ok but this talk was amazing …. 👏🏽

My takeaway. Be bold on spending on things that excites you, embolden you, elevates you and inspire you.

As an immigrant who came to US with not much in my pocket, I turned my poverty into wealth by two simple important advice; first to discipline myself and not overspend on thing I wouldn't need and 2ndly, invest in something I had passion for which in my case was real estate. Real state proved over the years to be very rewarding, and I would highly recommend to those conservative investors who don't like risking their money in the stock market. I want to reiterate the importance of the 1st advice on having a strong discipline. Good luck!

This principle only works when you can really afford to live your rich life and if you have a budget. If you have debt, you should probably be getting rid of that before indulging in your rich life. But keep the end goal and those dreams in mind! If your daily ice tea has zero impact on your budget then hell yeah.

The boundaries are mostly psychological. If folks had more money to spend, they wouldn't necessarily do so. My rich siblings don't spend extravagantly in the least -- we were raised by depression era parents.

Desperately want to talk with you about condo investing! You had a sweet young girl on your Netflix series who was sadly a great example of what is happening across America with condos. There is SO much we need to teach unprotected buyers and investors about aging buildings, underfunded reserves, and disjointed legislation. The can has been kicked so far down the road that today's owners are paying some HUGE prices for yesterday's lack of regulation. Apartments and commercial buildings are regulated, but condos are not! I'm happy you are helping buyers and investors because not only are they being hit with $100,000+ assessments or investor take-overs, but safety is a HUGE concern since 50% of ALL American condos were built 30 years ago!

if you want to do something really out there involving cars start with 1) get a fun sports car 2) attend autocross 3) bump it up to trackdays at a road course 4) get a racing lisense 5) race! it's an amazing pursuit and community and maybe that'll lead you to other avenues in life that you'll cherish
