This is what absolutely zero preparation for the Den looks like, combined with people who genuinely have no idea what they're doing. This almost seemed like they were on their way to a movie and decided to stop by the studio. Terrible idea, so tell us what else you have. Oh, we have a LARGER size. Yeah, let it sink in

They can still make counter offers in the Canadian version. I think the only difference between Shark Tank and Dragons' Den is that the entrepreneurs need to raise the full ammount they are asking for, otherwise they leave with nothing

Dragon bomb the pitch from the get go.
They projected perhaps a negative energy to get grilled that much by all dragons. As for Jim, he could have upped the valuation to get 50% and make up for it with a reduced cost when ordering for his restaurants. We’re talking about tiny valuations.

Maybe you could argue it was tough love but these guys are brutal sometimes. This is why I tend to prefer Dragons Den UK. That being said, they got some good advice by the looks of it.

If the retail marketing for sauces is so brutal, why are there so many sauces on the market? My concern would be trying to convince consumers that their product is better than the many others on the market.

Because they are "on the market" doesn't mean they make profit, the reason there are so many sauces is because dozens of products get replaced daily. Today you on the shelf, next day you gone

That should be a baseline concern for every product in any business. That's what all the other sauces are already trying to do and like other commenter said, they don't last long for that reason. The main thing is they didn't have a business plan/a bad business plan. They're pitching for restaurants, not for individual consumption but marketing in retail. It was a bad business strategy

The problem with Shark Tank is that Mark Cuban can basically land on every deal like a 10-ton gorilla and just swoop it up. There's not as much negotiation, suspense and petty backbiting as with the Canadian version.
