I went to Scotland to try 'The Best' Haggis - I was SHOCKED! 🏴
In this video find out what i eat in a day uk as I take a train to Edinburgh Scotland to try Haggis, Neeps and Tatties! But the challenge for this video, is that I have to do it all in one day. So I take a a train from Leeds UK to Edinburgh Scotland, have to find the best Haggis in Scotland, try, it, and make it back to the train station in time for my train out of Scotland later on in the day. So will I succeed? Or will I fail? Find out in this video!

Loved Edinburgh! The Architecture is stunningly gothic and the weather just added to it! Thanks for taking us with you. The train journey looked very comfortable. I wouldn't say the cost of the meal was too steep, it was a high end presentation the way it was served, and looked amazing, glad you enjoyed it. But do agree the train fare is absurdly expensive to travel within UK. You're getting expert at these adventures now! 😅 Can I suggest Aberystwyth soon? It's a University town by the beautiful sea. Known for it's Fish & Chips and ofcourse Welsh cakes and Lava Bread. That would be fun! 😊

Hello my friend lovely to see you as always, lovely venue & the meal was beautifully presented , pleased you enjoyed it. I've only had Haggis a few times but like it, I love travelling by rail but in comparison to other forms of transport is very expensive. Your recent trips abroad to do these reviews have been much more cost effective, looking forward to your upcoming videos thank you for sharing,take care 💜 XX
Another fantastic video even though it was expensive. Great point about the fares. Surely train travel is more eco friendly too. I'm Scottish and I have to say myself my wife and our 3 children all prefer black pudding to haggis!

Re train fares. Sadly XC is regularly criticised for high fares and lack of capacity. There *can* be low train fares but it all depends on the route and the operator. I mean Lumo has great fares for London-Edinburgh (a much greater distance than Leeds-Edinburgh) as it competes directly with incumbent LNER.

Historically, when hunters made their kill, they would use up the offal, which went off first, using the cleaned animal’s stomach as a cooking bag not used today . haggis is Minced heart, liver and lungs are bulked out with oatmeal, onions, suet, seasoning and spices before cooking. Nowadays natural casings are still used not always , but synthetic ones are becoming more common (there is no effect on the flavour

Surely it depends on time of booking of trains or planes. I flew to Portugal on Boxing day. The couple beside me said they booked 2 weeks before paying £620 each one way, I booked 6 months in advance at a cost of £80 return. I took a trip to Truro last September I booked 3 months in advance and paid £60 return. The lady next to me paid for a walk up standard ticket at £189!
Perhaps with rail, it's the cost of the infrastructure, maintenance, labour is also very expensive and don't forget to add the shareholder's bunce too. That makes it more expensive than flying.
Wow my friend that portion looks huge I would love to try that haggis 👍 I do enjoy your vids.This channel is defo in the up

INFRASTRUCTURE.....that's the answer! People who travel by train have little idea of what it costs to run a railway, but when you understand the structure of a railway compared to a budget airline (which is closer to a cab journey than a railway) it all makes sense. Need to try a haggis after watching your experience 😊

It is interesting how much it can cost to travel by train on the day. It can work out a lot cheaper to fly by plain or get the train ticket in advance a few days before travel. Coach is better value. I have enjoyed your short trips and have encountered the same problems you have had with delays and knowing the way to get to places. Weatherspoons does a good Haggis meal in January across the country for Burns Night they do for a few weeks.

We have so much more than haggis 😂 great vlog,❤
Liked and subscribed 👍🏻
The reason the trip abroad is cheaper than the trip to within the UK is the Plane ticket is probably subsided by the government of the country you are traveling to. If you want a UK equivalent get the train to Blackpool. The Blackpool council subsidises the cost of trains there making it one of the cheapest places to get a train to. The idea being get people there as cheaply as possible and you'll reap the rewards by having the tourists spend money once they get there.
Train ticket price ridiculous. However I hope you enjoyed your time in Edinburgh. There are so many fantastic culinary experiences to enjoy in this city so do return sometime. I’m sure you can get a flight from Leeds Bradford to Edinburgh for the same price if not cheaper.
Love Scotland and a good haggis but it's not all perfect . Nearly always cold and raining and when the sun does make a rare appearance so do the midges , pesky little blighters 🤣 Meal was on the expensive side even for Edinburgh as was the train journey , I could do Lancashire to Edinburgh and back in a day in my car for around £50. Love your mini adventure series 👍
Takes me back many many years ago to my honeymoon when I had haggis and glenfiddich -pretty good combo-not overly keen on the Haggis I am afraid.

Thanks for another great video...if you get the chance try McIntosh veggie Haggis, Neeps and Tatties that you can get in the supermarket..it's a microwave meal but actually really tasty when you add some butter to the neeps and tatties...regarding the travel cost....it's all about booking way ahead of time...I'm on Trainpal now and I've found a train that leaves Leeds at 07.42 and one that gets back from Edinburgh at 17.34 on Thursday 1st of August for £44.90 return..but I appreciate you probably do these at the last minute and can't factor in doing travel way in advance. Travel pricing comment: At least the train took you into the city. I am assuming now having travelled to Scotland before you would have to factor in either car gas and parking or taxi/uber fare both from home to airport and airport to city where the restaurant is located. Probably comes to the same pricing, I’d think??
Firstly the potatoes shouldn't be lumpy they should be smooth the turnip you had wasn't smooth either it's what we scottish would call runchie and the haggis looked like it had come out an oven, it shouldn't be cooked I'm an oven and definitely wouldn't pay what you did for it. There is so many variations of haggis tatties and neeps but sorry that really didn't look a good example
@DianeLittle-dd6ej
Ай бұрын
totally agree I've always had it side by side and the whisky sauce separate in a gravy boat for you to pour over your dish yourself . their is defiantly better places in Edinburgh that serve you up a good haggis neeps and tatties and cheaper the price
I hope you enjoyed the taste of it dude
The needs ARE mashed turnips. Not sure about the UK , but here in Ireland, we have belied or steamed carrots and parsnips, and they often have mashed turnip mixed in. Very delicious 😋
@BrapMan

Yep I am a Scottish blooded Scouser and our family have mashed potato, as well as mashed carrot and turnip (which is called "clapshot" in Scotland). Of course in southern England they call turnips swedes, as down there they have always been able to grow the wee purple and white Continental turnips, wereas we only had the tougher Swedish veriety of turnip, or rutabaga if you are from the USA. Who knew the simple turnip could be so confusing, eh

Thanks for sharing and keep on doing what you do 😀. I recently flew, in Business, Frankfurt to Manila, RETURN. Cost me just under 1,700 GBP. Both ways. That’s over 20,000 kms. And you have to pay that just for a train ride?
Did you buy the train ticket last-minute? If so, that might be why it was so pricey. Advance purchase from Leeds on LNER would be about 40 or 50
train toilet is brilliant compared to USA, the automatic door is lovely, thats not going to have a wonky latch that lets the door slide open while you are doing your business!
what type of haggis was it ?

Hello and thanks for another great video. As for comparing rail fares with air fares I must say that both modes have different pricing models. Air (Ryanair for example) will have low fares provided you book well ahead and are savvy enough to avoid the ancillary fees ! Rail doesn't have such a sophisticated pricing model and although the gov't (which is responsible for the fares - although few people realise this fact) wants to change things, nothing will happen for some time owing to the election. Even then if there's a change of gov't, rail is not the most urgent thing to be changed ... transport in the UK is well down the list of priorities of any gov't. Your train trip to Edinburgh would have cost less had you changed at York and taken LNER. Check Trainline, which offers split fares, and based on early morning Leeds-Edinburgh for Tuesday May 28 with a mid-afternoon return would cost around £100. Yes that is not cheap but then look at what Ryanair charges for Leeds-Dublin return on the same day (May 28). Right now I checked its website and the Ryanair basic price (not including the extras) is £365 !
Maybe the rail in UK is less effective than the air, so their cost reflects their efficiency.
Simple Air travel has lots of competition while rail has none
I like bog standard toilets,I wouldn’t expect anything less.
